What is the worst place you have ever visited?

I saw a thread on instagram about this and found it really interesting and wanted to hear more. What is the worst place you have visited and why?

Why did you book a hotel in Neasden? I've not been there after many years in London .

Brunei was shit too. The only cultural attraction is a building that's called a museum but is actually just a place where the Sultan keeps all the things he's bought, and he lets people look around it

He doesn't let them do much else though. Never seen so few people out and about in a capital city. They were probably all sat at home avoiding being beheaded.

I agree that North Nottinghamshire is not an uplifting place to be.

I was pleasantly surprised by Hull, but I like a bit of maritime industry. I also had a wonderful shopping trip to Leeds about 25 years ago, so I've always had a positive image of it

I've been to Dubai about 6 times (not vacation), and hated it with a passion.

Topeka, Kansas, is a tough place to be, imo.

Lived there as a teen. Never considered it a particularly sketchy area or station.

Egypt.

The men. Awful.

I got called all sorts of names because I didn't buy something or let someone clean my shoes or take their taxi.

One man actually followed me on a path in the middle of a deserted island in the Nile. I did a 180. He did the same. I then yelled at him. He finally went away.

Morocco, all of it.

Downtown Los Angeles. Sketchy as fuck! Also Hollywood boulevard. But Santa Monica & Malibu were lovely.

Whitby. Stank of fish and chips all day, full of dogs and their turds.
Plus the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

I agree! I'll add Manhattan Beach as a nice place, too.

Have had lovely family and couples holidays in Turkey (and have never been to Bodrum or Marmaris) but I would never go on a "girls" holiday there, nor to North Africa.

Downtown LA is sketchy like bears shit in the Californian woods.

Which is a bit cold and has no atmosphere, by the way. 1/10, that was just for the chocolate.

Yeah, Midi was always considered very dodgy indeed I think, I believe the terror attack was at Bruxelles-Central though.

Cairo. Dirty, filthy, vile place. If I never go again it’s too soon. The pyramids are a massive let down. Now surrounded by buildings and beggars. Horrid

Casablanca. Its only redeeming feature was what looked to be a gorgeous beach. There’s nothing else there worth seeing

Nairobi airport was scary

Brussels was underwhelming. Nothing to see, nothing to do. All the buildings look the same

Blackpool. Dirty, run down, depressing, stinks of fried doughnuts

Stoke on Trent. I can’t even think of anything to say about it, that’s how bad it is.

I’ve worked in Hull a fair bit, there are nice bits and it has some interesting history but the first time I visited the first thing I saw on exiting the train station was someone shooting up on the grass outside. It also had a very weird tiny dinosaur museum.

My Mum used other teach in Grangetown, and has some stories. On parent teacher night, one of the Mums stole the classroom television..

Bridlington is 10x worse.
I had to work there for 2 weeks about 10 years ago. I met some very odd people, and most of the town was grim/depressing. I hear Grimsby is even worse, but haven't been yet.

Tunisia when I was 14 about 20 years ago.

Tunisia. Awful.

Dubai. Sea full of oil and sea snakes. Manager of hotel refused to speak to me, only my husband. Men made clicking leering noises when we left hotel and I was dressed appropriately. Next door hotel shooting a porn movie which we could see. Never again.

Has anyone been to Scunthorpe? I was brought up there. Left at 18 and only went back to see family. Death of steelworks killed the town

Same here, but mid nineties. Had a brilliant time and have such great memories of it.
