There’s so much upsetting news at the moment. Can we have a good news thread please?

Good idea, thank you! There are loads of blackberries out already which probably isn't a great indicator climate wise but they are tasty! Also there are tiger cubs at Longleat https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cr5985rp66eo

Two tiger cubs curled up together on a bed of straw, leaning against a breeze block wall inside their enclosure. They are small and fluffy, with closed eyes and they appear to be yawning.

Endangered Amur tiger cubs born at Longleat Safari Park

The species is one of the most endangered in the world, with only about 450 Amur tigers left in the wild.

Ive had a recent cancer diagnosis that had a strong possibility of mets. My first scan has come back as all clear so Im taking that as a win!

AtlasPine · 30/07/2026 18:38

Some lovely good news on this thread.

I’ve had several pieces of good news recently which have brought an end to unsettling situations. Feels good. Also, a relative in poor health is on the upturn.

My younger daughter just told us she is expecting a new baby in January. It will be her 2nd child. it will be our 4th grandchild. We are so excited to meet this new little person next year.

It’s raining in Norfolk

upinaballoon · 30/07/2026 21:59

The combine came again this week and took the rest of the wheat, while the sun shone.

In possibly the best news of the year, my neighbours have taken down their England flag. Plus today a friendly cat came and sat next to me on my lunch break in the park, which was extra lovely as I was super stressed and nearly didn't take a lunch break at all.

Why does it bother you that they had an England flag?

My type 1 diabetic 3 year old hasn’t had a night time low in weeks 🥳🥰

hotmumshit · 30/07/2026 22:13

Tidied a bit of my flat today, after being mentally beat down by the school holidays

Vacuumed the living room, which already now has breadcrumbs on the floor 🙄 but i'm counting it as a win x

Why does it bother you that they had an England flag?

Mainly because it was used to represent views that are the opposite to my own. I know this because my neighbours have expressed their views to me and the timing when it went up etc, As it was being used as a symbol for things I disagree with, I personally really did not like having it in my line of sight all the time. However everyone is entitled to express themselves freely and I made no comment about it to them. Each to their own- we’ve helped each other out in neighbourly ways over the years and I will of course continue to do so happily.
The pole also squeaked a lot which disturbed me at night this summer with the windows open.
I expect snobbishness on my part also comes into play. We all have our faults!
Im very happy it’s down, for all those reasons!
