There’s so much upsetting news at the moment. Can we have a good news thread please?

Just got a letter from the DWP to say that my PIP award has been extended until at least 2032

Wow that’s fantastic, HugeFerrets!
I was chuffed with my 1 year extension (much like yourself, I’m looking forward to a miracle at the end of that Hmm)

DD1 has had a difficult year. A new diagnosis of epilepsy and some nasty side effects from medication and a job she has been finding demoralising. I have been constantly worried about her mental and physical health.
She just got a great new job and I am so happy for her.

My DD left her passport on a train late evening while travelling around Europe last week and a Ukrainian woman living in that country found it, messaged me that very evening (I was in England), in Ukrainian, as my phone number was one of the "emergency contacts" written in the back of the passport. Then we arranged for her to meet DD first thing the next day near where she lives.

How lucky is DD!

Moral of story: make sure you have completed the emergency contacts section in your passports!

Despite a tough week, knelt down next to my feline knight, kissing his paws, and checked, he licked me back and purred.
How lucky am I,to live with a sweet natured and loving cat

A small pension has matured and they’re sending me £20k soon!

This is a great idea for a thread. My good news - last day at work, and then taking a well deserved break.

I went for a lovely bike ride yesterday. Hardly breaking news.. but it was so beautiful. I went down windy country lanes with beautiful flowers growing, there was a light breeze, the sun was warming my skin but i didn't sweat. It was the most perfect temperature. There was pretty dappled light under the trees. I've also lost 20lbs recently so moved easier and felt lighter. I live in a rainy place where Summers are usually cloudy and glary but this year we've had blue skies and sunshine and after a few hot weeks weve had a week of perfection. I found it all a bit emotional to be honest. I felt very blessed.

In possibly the best news of the year, my neighbours have taken down their England flag. Plus today a friendly cat came and sat next to me on my lunch break in the park, which was extra lovely as I was super stressed and nearly didn't take a lunch break at all.

aww that’s nice about the cat. I volunteered at a museum where a friendly ginger and white cat would come into their gardens and be friendly with people a lot.

My young adult DS has recovered brilliantly from his mental health issues last year .
Has a lovely girlfriend and is away travelling !
Things others take for granted are a big win for him .
