I’m on day 15 post event and it’s the first day I’ve felt better. Haven’t needed a nap and the brain fog has reduced considerably

Glad You’re feeling better today OP. Have to say that 15 day brain fog doesn’t sound like aura migraine though.

No idea what it is - mri came back clear. Still not 100% but get the impression doctors think it’s psychological and I just need to get over it. So I guess that’s what I’ll have to do.

Glad you're finally feeling better OP. I started migraines with aura at 14, they disappeared completely after pregnancy number 6 but have resurfaced as aura only ones 2 years ago. Glimpses of bright sunlight shining through a window, reflecting on a surface like white paper can trigger one for me. Also looking directly at a light, or using my phone screen in a dark room. Only last half an hour or so but the shimmering irrisdescent zig zag crescent I get means I can't see anything properly til it passes. Hardly get much of a head-ache afterwards, compared to the classic migraines I used to get, which had me in my bed trying to sleep through the awful headache and sickness. The aura only ones still leave me feeling a bit wiped out afterwards but nowhere near as debilitating. Definitely hormonal in my case, anyway. Oestrogen fluctuation or family history can play a huge part.

I get them, I didn’t at all through my pregnancies or anything until I became perimenopausal at 39. HRT has been a good send for me!

This sounds similar then in terms of profile. The doctor thought it odd this was my first but suspects it’s hormonal. I think I’ll go to the menopause service my work offer. My colleague went and they immediately offered hrt but I’m not sure I can take it

I’ve had these.

i used to get migraines when my period was due. Once I hit peri-menopause they changed. I was going to work and I felt like something’missed’ in my head, then I got a sensation like I was walking through treacle. It was very odd. That lasted about an hour or two and then I got what I would call a dull headache which lasted about 48 hours - the same amount of time as my usual migraine lasted.

I went to see my GP who said it was a vestibular migraine and that the reason for the change was hormones due to being peri-menopausal. I had them on and off throughout peri but once I hit the menopause proper they seemed to abate and now, at nearly 12 years post-menopause I haven’t had one in a long time. In fact I can’t remember the last time I did.

That gives me some hope then! At the moment I’m still needing an afternoon nap🤣 as it’s knocked me for six!

I got them a lot in pregnancy. I would get visual disturbance, the smell of burning oil and the taste of copper. Not all at the same time but it was very odd. I started to have them again recently. I think peri related. I do get migraines with the actual headache. Having them without a headache was weird.
