Horrified my colleague today 🤣🤣🤣

Colleague let me know she farted during a pelvic exam today. I have a hold my beer story to this.

A few years ago I underwent emergency surgery whilst in sepsis to remove my ovary which had an infection which had caused said sepsis.

Before I went in I apologised to the surgeon for not shaving my vagina as I had been so ill. He sat with me and said oh don’t worry people have weed on me in surgery before.

On my awakening from the anaesthetic I was wheeled to my room where I was met with said surgeon. He sat on the end of my bed and let me know I had given him ‘a story for the pub’. On asking what he meant, he informed me I had shit on his arm during surgery.

Please feel free to add any of your medical mishaps, I need a proper laugh this evening 🤣

I projectile vomitted on a dentist (and myself, tbf!). Can’t remember what he did but it made me gag, then made me hurl 😅 (I never went back there 🫣)

I am fairly unshockable but I wouldn’t tell my best friend that, let alone a colleague! 🤢

I’m not sure I’d want to me told if I’d done that.

AffIt · 28/07/2026 19:46

I one told an anaesthetist that I loved them VERY SINCERELY, because I had some Diazepam as a pre-med and my goodness me, it's wonderful stuff.

(The reason I know this is because said anaesthetist was an old university friend and came round to tell me after I had recovered 😸)

McTwatface · 28/07/2026 19:48

Haven’t we all evacuated our bowels during childbirth?? 🤣

anyone…

Culpeper · 28/07/2026 19:50

Wow OP. How completely weird and unprofessional of him to tell you that. Did that really happen?

morselover69 · 28/07/2026 20:05

my boyfriend sharted on my leg in bed, and he didn't even have a medical excuse

blacksax · 28/07/2026 20:18

Welcome to Mumsnet OP.

AggroPotato · 28/07/2026 20:18

I projectile vomited on a doctor in A&E once.

In my defence I was a child with a head injury, but I will never forget her face 😅

🌉

studentsehoesy · 28/07/2026 20:23

You apologised for not shaving? How bizarre. Why did you do that?

TheresDirtInTheYurt · 28/07/2026 20:26

I mean, obviously that didn't happen. I've worked in a hospital for 18 years, on medical, surgical, and maternity wards, and while I likely haven't met this exact surgeon, I've never met a single HCP who would dream of telling a patient they had opened their bowels whilst under a GA. Firstly, because it's not a terribly uncommon side effect of a GA; secondly, because a surgeon removing your ovary wouldn't have their arm anywhere near your anus; and thirdly, because it would be wildly unprofessional to risk humiliating the patient like that.
What a bizarre story to make up and post on the Internet.

Thank you. It’s clearly bullshit. And not even amusing bullshit.

Lexy2345 · 28/07/2026 20:41

I’m confused as to why this grossly unprofessional surgeon had his arm anywhere near your bumhole, when he was presumably removing your ovary via an abdominal incision.

Oh and what on earth persuaded you to apologise for your unshaven fanny? 😱

I had a puss build up over my bladder where my ovarian cyst had ruptured and moved into my kidney. Would you like my medical notes? I also had a stent put into my urethra? Why would I make it up 😂

of course there’s a surgeon down that end - if they're doing gynae surgery there’s very often someone sat down there the whole time moving the uterus from the ‘bottom end’ so the surgeon in the abdomen can see what they need to to do the operation.

GA’s don’t ‘commonly’ make people open their bowels in theatre, but emergency abdomino-pelvic surgery does sometimes cause some impressive clearing out.

How do you mean, removing the uterus from the bottom end? The reproductive system isn’t connected to the gastrointestinal tract.

21ZIGGY · 28/07/2026 20:55

Not in any way on the same level as shitting on a surgeon, but I had an abscess on my armpit when I was about 14 and I was also very in love with take that. I had some serious drugs and was in hospital for a few days for continual drainage and packing and every single time that they gave me the drugs, all I did was talk about how I wanted dread locks like howard donald. I am very pale and very ginger, and this would in no way work as a hairstyle on me. 😬

They often need to use an instrument that goes pv to move the uterus from the inside. The vagina and the anus are pretty close so yes it is conceivable that if someone’s bowels open the surgeon who’s doing that uterine manipulation will notice!
