Temps in Lucerne next week

Hello

I'm looking at meteo weather and it's says 26 ISH up to 33 by Thursday , however BBC and others has it at 35.

Does anyone who lives there have any insider intelligence please.

I've just had to cancel another leg of my trip in Germany due to 38 temps.

Grindelwald!! Drive or train from interlaken is fine.

Just head over to the Jungfrau region for the day and plan to stop the night in Bern. You could visit Meiringen on the way, walk the Aare gorrge which would be shady and cool from the spray and see the Reichenbach Falls (Sherlock Holmes) or go on to Interlaken amd .Grindelwald/Wengen for the Eiger and .Jungfrau(assume you are not considering taking the train to the glacier though as likely very busy by the time you get there). None of these places are that far by car from Basel and the road is a dual carriageway at least. However you are now looking for accommodation very late in the peak summer season.

Or there is a glacial river gorge walk in Grindelwald which your dc might enjoy as it has climbing nets and walkways.

Have you done a lake tour on the paddle boat yet? What about going up Rigi or Pilatus? That involves a boat then train ride up, very nice.
Luzern also has a large lido.

Did you know there are premier inns in Germany with aircon? We have stayed at some really nice ones near saarbruchen.

I'm really sorry you're still feeling so anxious about this holiday. Remember you picked it because you want to see Switzerland and mountains and you will do that.

I sympathize with your worries about the heat. Unfortunately it's the new normal but passive cooling measures can actually do a lot. I was very scared about booking a hotel in Liechtenstein with no air con but had no choice because the kids wanted to go there and the country doesn't allow hotels to add it (that's what my hotel said anyway I've not checked it). The passive cooling was fine so long as we kept the sun off the windows.

Remember on holiday you're not stuck in the heat like you are at work, you can find respite in water, up mountains, in air conditioned spaces. You can rest more too. It sounds like you might need to specify a bottom line of "hotel must have aircon" for future trips though. I generally find if I know there's a place with a/c I can escape to, I can cope with hot weather.
