I'll kick off with:

"What temperature should I wash my sheets and towels at?"

He'd been there 9 months.

DS was in 1st year uni… 11pm “hi mum don’t worry but me and ‘friend’ have been run over”!!!! some boy racer had lost control of bmw and mounted pavement and rammed into them both from behind. My DS and friend panicked and ran off (shock/adrenaline?) as driver and pals seemed “dodgy’. Got back to their halls and had phoned police on the way. Told to wait in their flat and someone would come to them. No one turned up. I’m worrying about internal injuries and told them to go to A&E but he kept saying they felt ok. Police never arrived so I drove over to check they were ok and thankfully, other than a few cuts and cruises, they both were!

Forgot to add the bonkers one…
”How do I open a tin of tuna if there’s no ring pull thingy on it?” 🙈

In this case I’m the guilty party. I remember phoning my mum when I was at uni asking “how do I clean a bathroom”. One of my flatmates also asked me how she would know when the water in a pan was boiling 😂

This reminds me the musings I had with my first pregnancy. "How will I know if I'm in labour?"

Tbf I initially thought I had slipped a disk as I felt like I'd broken my back. Dispite being on day two of induction for preclampsia and in hospital waddling around trying to bring my labour on. Even then the midwife was telling me I was trying to push. I thought I was holding my breath from the pain.

Ah the naivety.

At home my kids sometimes get the "you will have to do what I have to do - run it and feel the temperature" while they look at me like " but you could do that for me?" Makes all that pain worthwhile

DC’s friend, telling me with huge consternation that they could not possibly use the oven in their (fairly grotty) house share as ‘something is wrong with it, it is extremely dangerous’ and they had called the landlord. On further enquiry :” it has actual flames coming out from the bottom”

Oh right: an old fashioned gas oven

That is HILARIOUS 🤣 🤣 🤣

Would you not rinse fabric conditioner then? Surely your machine does ? You rinse off hair conditioner.

That’s an interesting question. How do I know the answer, which is what @Wonderknicks wrote?

I imagine it’s because I’m old, and when I was growing up neither product existed (or, at least, was commonly available) so when they were introduced there would be instructions on the label telling you how to use them. There may not always be now.

Leave-in hair conditioners are unusual, so the label tells you how to use them.

No, fabric conditioner goes in the final rinse, it's not rinsed out.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

There's a clue in those two words.

Answering these questions is our only shot at immortality. For generations the washing temperature advice will be passed down parent to child. That's your mark on this world. Sorry it wasn't like the taj Mahal or something, but it's quite impressive.

🙌❤️

My exH thought the same when making Angel Delight and I found 8 bowls of strawberry milkshake in the fridge. He was 33.

Thanks, i haven't laughed so much in ages😆

My best moment as a mother was when I answered the call from Middle Daughter. She wanted to know what to do with washing stuff that was black, because there was a program on the washing machine for stuff that was white and another for stuff that was coloured, but there wasn’t a program for stuff that was black. 8 years ago and I am still snorting with laughter when I think of it.

I’m still not sure how you wash something which is white but has a lot of coloured writing on it. What about uneven red and white stripes, with the white twice the size as the red.

I do the first one on whites and the second on coloureds, but I know that’s a guess.

I used to work with someone who washed her whites and light cream items in different loads, so she waited until she had a full load of either. She told me, annoyed, that her mother was visiting and had put them in together.

Then do you use an ordinary washing powder/liquid, or one for colours? ☺
