Graduation Jellycat Bunny Emergency

Piknik · 21/07/2026 20:01

I don't have TikTok, I don't know anything about the importance of Jellycats - I am out of the loop on these sorts of trends and think all a bit sillly and a con but DS has just told me that all DDs friends will have the new Graduaction Jellycat Bunny and DD (who loves stuff like this) will be really sad if she doesn't.

So putting aside my thoughts on the matter I have been trying to find one and they are sold out everywhere. The ones on Ebay are cheaper than the real thing so clearly fake. Can anyone help me? To be fair, DD doesn't ask for much and there is no big 'gift' coming her way so I'd really like to find one if there is any chance.

ANY ideas, suggestions, links really welcome. She graduates on Friday..... yikes.

I’m in the procession and have seen students walk on stage clutching one.

Adults walking on stage clutching a stuffed bunny? Wow, this has really surprised me. It’s a cute token gift but bizarre if 21 year olds are actually going to on the stage holding them like small children would

They really won't.
I've been to two Graduations this week, and saw no-one walking around with a stuffed toy.
"All DDs friend" will not have them.

I was thinking the same. I went to my DD’s uni grad this week and can’t imagine her, or a single one of her friends wanting one. Odd.

Morelovelyandtemperate · 22/07/2026 12:03

She's getting a degree, she probably won't be too upset at not getting a cuddly toy.

Her actual mother says she will be sad so I think it's better to at least try to find one rather than assume she doesn't care

Really? Bloody hell. It’s a nice enough gift but to be upset if she doesn’t get it? These are grown adults who apparently have been in receipt of several years’ higher education. ND aside, that’s odd to be upset that she can’t have the same toy as her friends.

It does however go some way to explain why some of the graduates are like they are.

You learn a new thing every day, who would think grown adults (Sen aside) want fluffy toys …

SauvignonBlanche · 22/07/2026 16:23

I hoped DD was joking when she said she wanted one 🙄
Thankfully her boyfriend bought her one so I escaped the same plight as the OP.

OP hasn't actually said what age her daughter is. It might be one of these totally made up/really not a thing nursery/primary graduations for all we know.

I bought myself a giant cuddly capybara the last time I went to our local zoo / farm and I'm 46. Everyone who sees it is jealous.

He's called Barry and he lives on the landing. Sometimes he sits at the dining table.

Let people have happiness.

It's bad enough that most young female graduates seem to have the same look (long hair curled up at the bottom hairstyle/lots of make-up) but now, they are carrying fluffy toys?

What is the target customer for these items???

If I thought my DDs would be sad if they didn’t get a cuddly toy to hold as they collected their degree certificate I’d think I’d failed as a parent! It’s commercialism gone bonkers!

Honestly I genuinely despair - grown women (and men I presume) being upset at not getting a teddy bear like their friends. It’s a definite failure somewhere

And that’s fine, but the fact the grandparent is desperately trying to source it so the ADULT isn’t upset is not the same as buying yourself something.

Adults - it’s a graduation bear.

I don’t see them as ‘toys’, more collectors items. Admittedly I am autistic but these things bring me a lot of joy! I embrace that.

Oh no I didn’t know that! Sorry 😔

What a nasty and unnecessary post. What on earth is the problem with women styling their hair or wearing make up at their graduation?

I'd rather my grown up daughter wanted a stuffed toy than was as snide and nasty as you.

frugalkitty · 22/07/2026 21:13

For those sneering at graduates wanting a Jellycat, a lot of girls last week had bouquets of flowers, on sale at graduation for £20-40 a pop. We watched one girl throw hers in the bin as they'd drooped already in the heat. My daughter has collected the Jellycat bunnies for years so I'd rather have bought her the graduation bunny that will last for years than a bouquet of flowers that only lasted a day or two. Horses for courses I guess.

Young women aren’t allowed to have long hair that curls up at the bottom? That’s just normal women’s hair! Why are you so appalled by it

SemiRetiredLoveGoddeess · 22/07/2026 21:31

The availability of these products is obviously being controlled by somebody somewhere. This racket is as old the hills.

Would not be surprised if the prices increased in response.

Waiting for Disney to take over the company and become really toxic and lose their charm

Beware of a host of fakes joining the market.

Never heard of jellycat . Had to Google it.
Looks like children's toys for teenagers, students etc. Nice colours and designs but nothing new.

Have seen people over the years being whipped into a frenzy of need over toys and other collectables.

Very deep psychology used in their design and selling methods by all the Companies involved.

Low manufacturing cost. Big profits.

Jellycats are massively popular at the moment on Insta and TikTok etc. They're the latest must-have collectables - there's been reporting on it on the BBC etc. It's the same as any craze - people want them because they're popular, regardless of what they actually are. It'll be the next thing in due course, and people who were clamouring for a Jellycat will want something else.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/07/2026 09:09

They are cute but £45 is ouch

but least will last unlike a bunch of flowers

hope gets to your dd in time
