I want to like him but am finding him quite annoying and smug. I'm worried the power will go to his head.

I can’t help thinking that the rush to remove Starmer and replace him with someone who wasn’t even an MP a couple of weeks ago suggests that something has gone seriously wrong within government. If Burnham wasn’t part of the problem Labour can remain in power with a squeaky clean Burnham at the helm.

Out of 403 current Labour MPs surely one of them could have taken the reigns.
He’s either going to shake things up and regain confidence or fall flat on his face. He is a bit of a chameleon in politics happy to toe which ever line best suits his route to the top.

I think people will look back and wonder why the press disliked Starmer and wished we’d just let him get on with things. What was it that made him such a bad pm

the press are good at convincing people they are going to be worse of. Twice this week I’ve been told I won’t get my pension at 67 the age is rising. I’ve had to explain that’s not affecting anyone born before 1977. The press do a good job at leaving out major details

I didnt vote for him. Neither did the country.
It seems to be a thing now having to put up with prime ministers we didnt vote for on a revolving door basis. Like doesnt come into it.
There should be a general election everytime a prime minister resigns or is ousted.

I think if a new leader sticks quite close to what was already happening that's one thing but if they are bringing in a lot of changes they should call an election.

I don't like the idea of building millions of council houses, we should uae the homes we already have, and are currently standing empty. Leave agricultural land alone. We will need it.

I like his choice of John Healey for chancellor - a competent principled man with long experience.

But AB himself comes across as a bit smug and arrogant. And he's a Catholic which is bad news. We don't need religious nonsense interfering in law making.

I think even if you go North -v- South, that's divisions and that's the last thing we need as a country. All areas have richer and poorer bits.

Broadly, yes. He appears to be a nice guy and the consensus among those who know him & have worked with him is that he is a nice guy. Even Kemi Badenoch said so the other day.

Will he be a good Prime Minister, though? That’s a completely different question. He might just be too nice to make the tough decisions which are necessary on welfare in particular and to disappoint people.
