Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, after snuggles in bed with boy cat 😊. He's sat in his chair in here too, while I drink & scroll.

The washer's on already but that's it so far, apart from giving the cats their breakfast. There are pots to wash and proper tidying to be done later on.

Today will definitely be a slow, moochy, kind of day here. I'm well ready for the break. I think I might just spend the day with my crochet in between various house jobs.

Dd2 will probably suggest watching some 9-1-1 together at some point, and dd1's at work from mid-afternoon. So, hopefully a fairly quiet and restful day here.

I have no idea what's for tea - I'll rummage in the freezer shortly 🤔.

After that, I might start a new book before an early night 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 18/07/2026 10:03

Going to the beach.

DP recently got over his fear of going into the sea and that’s now all he wants to do.

Also, we’re going crabbing. But we just admire how cute they are and pop them back. No crabs are harmed.

topcat2014 · 18/07/2026 10:03

Nice leisurely day running my wife's art gallery. Should be a nice day for sales as not too hot. French cafe jazz on the play list.

Plus a day off on Monday so we are going to Newbury - never been before but seems pretty

Rainbow1235 · 18/07/2026 10:06

Morning @lucysmamand the Saturday gang.
Just having a light breakfast (coffee 1 slice of seedy toast and cottage cheese, if anyone is interested) before a day out for a colleagues 60th birthday.
Meeting at 10:45 for breakfast and then getting the train to Durham for a bit of day drinking. Really looking forward to it.
DH is running a 10K at 6pm, DS is going to see the Odsessy with his mates, so no idea what anyone is doing about food. We will all likely be home for the football, but I may be asleep 😴
We had some rain here last night which is quite exciting!
Have a good day everyone. Happy summer hols lucysmam

therockingbird · 18/07/2026 10:09

Morning all, just having my coffee planning in my head what can be done today.. so far I’ve googled how to cement a rotary clothes dryer in the garden 😆 so a trip to Wickes first off .. then I’m going to mow what’s left of the back garden lawn. Badminton court booked for 2pm and then a swim in the outdoor pool afterwards. I’m in a diy mood so god only knows what else I’ll be picking up on my trip to Wickes when I finally get myself out the door.. have a great day all.

Squirrelblanket · 18/07/2026 10:09

We are going for a walk soon then this afternoon/evening we're going round to a friend's for dinner. He's doing a French themed evening. It's been planned for ages but so weird that England are playing France tonight. 😂 (We won't be watching.)

frozendaisy · 18/07/2026 10:09

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I had a dreadful night, not getting to sleep until after 4.15am, but I'm up and busy.

So far I have had a shower, put a wash on, and prepared the stuffed marrow I'm having to eat this evening. I made Mr Dilemma cauliflower cheese to have with a gammon steak for his evening meal.

We're waiting for the delivery of a good but dilapidated cupboard/bookcase we have been given. It's oak, and solid, but need quite a lot of work to get it looking nice. I've already bought some liquid wax so I can give it a good feed, once it is cleaned up!

Once that arrived and is in place we're going out to get a few bits, Mr Dilemma wants some nice bread to have with his meal this evening and some more grapes, he gets through a punnet every 2 days, but since I struggle to get him to eat fruit and vegetables I don't mind that. I'm sure there are a couple of other things that we need but I can't remember what they are.

Cold chicken for lunch, with salad if I can face it. I've been a bit off my food in the last few days, which isn't a bad thing really.

I have no other plans for today. I will hang anything that doesn't belong to, or is used by, Mr Dilemma on the line, but everything else will have to go in the tumble dryer. Luckily it doesn't cost us anything to use it!

Have a nice day everybody, or at least the best day possible.

Over a year ago I won a couples photoshoot. We booked it so far in advance in the hope we could both lose some weight. That didn't happen but we are going.g today anyway. I am one of those weirdos who loves having my picture taken.

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/07/2026 10:24

Doing some gardening before it gets too hot, lots of dead plants.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 18/07/2026 10:27

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. A slow day for me today as I had a procedure yesterday & a tough couple of days leading up to it. Yesterday morning was horrendous - haven’t been that ill in a long time 😢 The main thing now is recovering from the sedative so I can’t drive until late afternoon. I thought I would sleep well but had to get up & go downstairs as I was in a lot of discomfort. Might have a nap later. I’ve just had a shower which has really helped. DH has already finished work & has rung to say he’s going to the car wash then off to buy straw for the bunnies. The dishwasher needs doing & there’s a basket of washing to hang out plus a huge pile of dry clothes on the bedroom floor that need sorting. Mostly mine! I have a load of clothes to post on Vinted. Been slack lately & haven’t taken any photos. Might do some later as we need the lounge back! I have sold a couple of bits. Once I’m ok to drive again, I’ll brave the crowds at Tescos as we need one or two things. I’ll get pizza for DH but I’ve gone off it a bit so I’ll have one of my bag meals from Iceland. They’re really quick to cook from frozen & taste great. Quite fancy the paella & will buy some extra prawns as you don’t get many. DD will sort herself out. She seems to be living on BBQ beef super noodles atm! We’ll be watching the 3rd place match tonight. Gutted that England didn’t make it to the final. Hopefully they can at least beat France! Have a lovely Saturday everyone ☀️😎☀️

MrsJigsaw · 18/07/2026 10:27

Dropping DS off for his first shift of his summer job at midday, then DH and I are off to a local comedy festival for the afternoon.

Will pick up DS from his shift on our way home then DH might pop to a friend's to watch the football. If he does, I'll enjoy some trashy TV whilst DS probably catches up with friends online/on Xbox, unless he's knackered and wants to just mooch in front of TV with me!

Thislittlekitten · 18/07/2026 10:32

Good Morning @lucysmam and the Saturday gang

I’m two week into the summer holidays @lucysmam and only know feel relaxed. It was a very stressful end to the year. I am doing some college work these holidays but at my own pace.

Like @DilemmaDelilah I had a terrible sleep. Been up and down since 4.04am. Had a few cups of tea and bacon rolls and sorted pets. I’m now aiming for a shower and need to pop by the chemist and then library to pick up a book I ordered.

Both children and DH have plans today so I shall take DDog to our favourite walk place. Then I will read over some college stuff and start my new book. Oh I need to pick up a top I ordered for going out tomorrow with friends.

I think tea will be pasta or quiche.

Enjoy your day everyone.

InglouriousBasterd · 18/07/2026 10:44

Morning all! I sacked off Pilates as I had a terrible night and woke up exhausted. We’re off to the Olympic park today to watch the Diamond League athletics, can’t wait! Just having some fruit and Greek yoghurt before heading off, and a strong much needed coffee!

Will have a potter around Westfield before heading home and watching the footie.

Have a lovely day everyone!

Tiddlywinks63 · 18/07/2026 10:48

Good morning everyone, I’m having a second cup of coffee while faffing around on here 😁
So far I have tidied my craft room, sorted out my sashiko materials, not found the book I was hoping would turn up, done some embroidery, given myself a headache and I can see a day of achieving very little!
DH has taken bigger dog out, tiddler went for her walk at 5 this morning.
There’s left over pulled BBQ pork for dinner, DH can have his with picked slaw and flatbread, I’ll make a cheese sandwich or something.
I need to find something amongst my huge craft stash to keep all my sashiko bits in, then perhaps I’ll start doing some. I already have at least 1p diff embroidery pieces on the go, I’m great at starting things but lousy at actually finishing them!
At least it’s cooler at the moment.

MrsTulip · 18/07/2026 10:54

Just about to pop to the supermarket to pick up some thank you c and small gifts for the team as we are off on a Rainbows sleepover this afternoon. Will also need to finish packing my kit and load the car.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 18/07/2026 10:54

Good morning lucysmam and others. I have had 2 coffees and a slice of toast. Then I stripped the bed and put everything in the washing machine. I went to get petrol and hung the washing out on my return. Then I emptied and loaded the dishwasher. Im now sitting in the garden centre with a friend and I'm having eggs benedict. Have a lovely day

Simonjt · 18/07/2026 11:15

Good morning everyone, it looks like its finally cooling down in the UK. Our two are off on a holiday with their grandma this week, so we aren’t going to see them until next Saturday. The most I’ve ever been away from them is three days, so that will be hard, they of course will give zero shits.

Once they’re at the airport with grandma we’ll go out for some lunch before taking the dog on a long walk. Tonight we’re going to the cinema to see, oh I’m not sure actually, my husband booked it and I guess I wasn’t listening.

Tomorrow we’re painting their bedrooms so we need to get some bits for that as we don’t have any dust sheets.

Have a nice saturday

Megsdaughter · 18/07/2026 11:17

Up early and had first wash on and out in the line by 7. Bedding all in tge wash once DH got up, he put it out to dry later.

I had a slice of toast and marmite which is unusal for me as I dont really eat bread anymore as I was addicted to it but since losing 8st on WLI bread is off the table.

Then went to check on my lovely friend who lives alone and came home from hospital yesterday after an operation.

Once home I put some more of my larger clothes onto Vinted.

Now just Mumsnetting sitting under umbrella in the garden. Will bring the washing in soon and DH will remake the beds ( I am disabled and find it hard to do).

Dinner is steak and salad, followed with the last of a large watermelon.

frozendaisy · 18/07/2026 11:42

lucysmam · 18/07/2026 10:14

Ooh, your dinner sounds nicer than my "see what's there to be had" @frozendaisy . Maybe I'll make more of an effort!

It’s deceptively easy!

shush don’t tell them

grill lamb chops (easy flip once maybe twice maybe)
boil or steam new potatoes
that’s it for the cooking

rest is chopping

let potatoes cool (so you can do this bit and get pan washed and put away long before dinner needs serving)
chop lettuce, fresh herbs (parsley is out favourite), dash of extra virgin olive oil (good for you) bit of mint

alternative is (brown) rice/ouzo pasta mix (one pan) strained - tiny amount of squeezed lemon (as the carbohydrate) Add ouzo/rice into same pan according to cooking times (one pan)

if you want to be nice (not essential) you can put an EV olive oil/balsamic vinegar/garlic powder dressing to add to taste - stirring not chopping admittingly

feta, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, olives
just chopped and mixed (again can be done whenever and sit in fridge)

very little washing up, prep or effort really

I have a number of plates of food that are full of flavour, vegetarian/vegan, not ultra processed - throw a piece of meat on top voila!

I also have plates that take a good 24 hours of pre-prep and a lot of time at cooker. It’s a trade off!

I could happily do this on a Saturday

Watching the rugby for the day. I'll only move for drinks, toilet and food.
