Neighbour demanded proof of our hosepipe ban exemption

My NDN has just demanded to see proof that we are exempt from the local hose pipe ban !!!!

I have said to them I won’t be showing them anything as it’s private but they can report me if I want and the water company can check.

We literally have just been filling a small paddling pool daily for the dc for after school and today have a little sprinkler toy as it’s boiling.

I know some people aren’t aware that there are exemptions (eg being on priority services register or certain tariff) but I’m so shocked they demanded proof !!!

It’s really not. The exemption is for the benefit of the disabled person themselves.

Might mean they can’t run their washing machine, or take a shower when they need to though.

b. i live in a top floor flat with no garden. I would quite like to turn my tap on and actually have some water come out of it. I dont have a garden because i didnt have kids which is part of the reason i have to live in this shithole sauna that passes as a flat. I dont get to have a garden to escape to. I dont see why i may have to go without basic water for washing because someone has chosen to have their sprinklers on for hours YOU are the one who mentioned choice THERES your choice

We know the water companies are shit but that doesn’t mean we can’t be sensible to help our neighbours especially if they are more vulnerable. Won’t help them if they have an exemption but the water pressure in their area drops. What if they have medical equipment reliant on water supply. But as long as your lawn is green

I would presume one who relies on medical equipment requiring access to water would have a reserve reservoir.

Its not owned by the local authority Its always been HA Incidentally it has a bath but no shower. Perhaps i should fill the bath EVERY time i need to cool off rather than jumping in and out of the same water every couple of hours. Because im sure that a, someone like you would call me entitled if i asked again for a shower to be fitted so thems the breaks and why the fuck should i be made a mug of and conserve water when ppl more well off than me cant be bothered. By the way i DO agree with you about the water companies making mugs of us all but you lost me when you told me to be grateful for a sauna that has caused a bilateral ear infection due to the heat and humidity in here (DIAGNOSED) and led to hearing loss

The ban doesn’t apply to the actual use ot the sprinklers or whatever, it’s how they are filled. It’s primarily for the benefit of the disabled person. And of course no-one polices it. That’s why it’s an easy piss take - unless of course NDN decides to be an arse.

Yes, fill the bathtub each time you want to cool off. Reuse the water if you are energy-conscious.

Why are you filling the pool fresh every day?? Fill it once a week and top it up with one bucket in between if it evaporates noticeably - you don't need a complete change daily, it isn't a bath.

You can receive a diagnosis and still explore alternative treatments, or perhaps you could ask your Housing Association to give you a house with a garden.
