I can usually spell period so I prefer the shorter word over menstrual

Period products is far preferable to “feminine products” in my opinion.

The name is fine but for correctness I think they should have said "menstrual products".

Disagree. Period as a word has a meaning which might mean a length of time, but is also commonly used to refer to menstruating. Women would not say "I am menstruating" they would say "I'm on my period".

There are a lot of women out there who are functionally illiterate, or who have English as a second language. The NHS using language around "people who have a cervix need cervical screening" or "people who menstruate" rather than just women is excluding people who don't know what those words mean. That is not a good thing. Plain English is best to be easily understood. Women. Periods. Mothers.

Just had a look at the 'toiletries' section on the Waitrose website and guess what - a section labelled as 'Men's Toiletries'. Hypocrites.

I’d rather not have period products labelled ‘feminine’ - it might help break the rather sickening obsession that some TWs have about them, fetishising them as the epitome of femininity and ‘womanliness’.

I think it's great that they are using the word period as period products is exactly what they are. Why should we be discrete & call it 'feminine hygiene'

Much prefer the term period products to the euphemistic “feminine hygiene” products, as though periods are a dirty, secret, thing. I don’t really care why they have changed the term.

Feminine doesn’t mean dainty and pretty!!! It’s feminine to bleed every month, to carry a baby in your womb, to feed a baby from your body. Don’t buy into mysogynistic definitions of femininity.

Mine was 'time of the month'. She'd visibly wince at period! Maybe we should just go straight for menstruation products actually, it is just swapping one euphemism for another. Though I don't mind period.

Feminine products is pretty awful though, makes me think more of glittery body powders and marabou sandals. Or maybe it's just time to reclaim feminine, and there's little more feminine than inserting a tampon! Definitely more so than glitter and feathers, which I tend to associate far more with men playing dress up than with actual females.

Waitrose have supposedly said "Thank you for expressing your concern about the piece in the media.
What you’ve seen does not represent the true facts.
Our store fixtures, which include period products also have incontinence pads, including those specifically for men.
As the term feminine hygiene products did not accurately reflect our range, we began changing over the in store signage to ‘pads and tampons’ last year.

Makes sense to me. You might need to be female to have periods but you certainly don't need to be feminine.

Yeah I'm fine with that. It's factual. It's for periods. The act of cells and blood coming out of your vagina isn't especially 'feminine'. Women with short hair and wearing hobnail boots and have facial hair, wear high vis/'manly' clothing have periods. It doesn't mean they're being 'feminine'? It's just a period. So call it that.
