To the person on the previous thread who was goading me about Rupert Lowe’s disgusting remarks about Dunblane. You do realise that I’m Scottish and the massacre was one of the grimmest events in recent history.

Yes, we know. We’ve moved on and nobody’s “goaded” you. Please either join in our threads in good faith or leave us alone, you can’t be “goaded” if you don’t post.

Yes, it was. No one seems to have started a thread about his comments though. Not sure why you are reviving it.

No one was goading you about Dunblane. They were commenting on the fact that you had nothing to say on it, if I recall and just popped in to tell posters off, as ever.

Why would I comment on him? Rather a random idea. And the constant implication that I support Reform or Restore. How rude.

Notonthestairs · 11/07/2026 10:10

If you only post to criticise then the goading isn’t coming from regular posters.

If you can post how much you hate Von Der Leyden, you can post to denounce Lowe’s heinous deliberate misleading remarks.

There are a couple of threads on Lowe’s comments - and a lot of posters claiming ‘he misspoke’ ‘he meant…’ . Bullshit. Frankly embarrassing for them that they’d even try that.

I have not remotely implied that derxa. I don't think anyone else has either.

The conversation at the time on the thread was split between musings on AW and on RL. You only commented on AW, despite being Scottish and sharing our rage and disgust. Yet you didn't pop in to agree there, only to comment on comments on AW.

If you cannot see or acknowledge that, I cannot help you.

OK, my bad. Probably best avoided.

They don't get into active it seems.

pointythings · 11/07/2026 10:20

@derxa, all you seem to do on these threads is drop in and tell us off. That's not constructive and it's not in the spirit of these threads. The AW/RL discussions were going on at the same time and yet you only popped in to berate us for not shedding crocodile tears about AW. We respond as we find. You used to engage with discussion and we used to engage with you - no more. I'm beginning to think the classic GIF also applies to you.

TemperanceWest · 11/07/2026 10:22

There was no goading @derxa , just an observation.

You only come on these threads to mock or to tell us off (and then you often pop over to the LiW thread to snipe about us). Accusing other posters of being goady is rather ironic.

Marina’s take on this week’s events. Interestingly the Telegraph has an article asking if Reform can survive without Farage.

the Telegraph has an article asking if Reform can survive without Farage.

It says a lot about the intelligence of your average knuckle dragging Reformista that it's only now this question is being asked.

Imagine wasting over 2 years of frothing rage backing Reform, only to have the whole edifice melt away (now with a bang but a whimper)

Yes, I pay myself rent in order to avoid tax, but it is coincidentally £1 less than the level at which I would have to declare it under Parliament's transparency rules.

But he’s an ordinary bloke, right? Not part of the establishment?
I think I’ve just dislocated my eyes by rolling them too hard.

DuncinToffee · 11/07/2026 12:21

never mind, MN unhid my post

I read that article. Odd arrangement. I wonder how they calculated the rent.

“The structure of the payment also provides potential tax advantages because it allows Farage to take £50,000 out of his company as rent rather than a dividend or salary. Rent payments can be deducted from a company’s corporation tax bill and are not subject to dividend tax. A salary payment of the same amount would also be deductible from corporation tax but would be subject to national insurance.”

Who wants to be a billionaire? No prizes for the correct answers.

Very sad to hear about Dermot Murnaghan.

Yes, he always appeared unflappable. The work he did with Chris Hoy to raise awareness will have saved lives.

Agree it’s very sad, also Bonnie Tyler she always seemed such a lovely person.

TemperanceWest · 11/07/2026 18:00

Farage really is a cunning stunt. Here he is stirring the pot along with a dollop of speculation. He is a disgrace.

"Mr Farage said: “One theory doing the rounds, I discussed this with the Prime Minister yesterday, is that it was a burglary that went wrong. But the car went onto the drive at approximately 12.30pm on Wednesday.

“She’d done one interview in the morning [...] and she was due to do another one at 1pm. So if you were a burglar, would you literally drive your car onto someone’s drive? You wouldn’t."

“From what I can see of it, from what I can make out, this was premeditated murder.”

The Reform leader refused to speculate on whether the alleged murder was “politically motivated”.
