Another rapist goes free with a slap on the wrist

Yes I know it the Express (I don’t follow them) but this just popped up on my fb feed. The way they report it! ‘Baby faced’ no other offences (that they know of plus every rapist has a first victim)
Wtf? What is wrong with this country?

Do they think it's acceptable? Is it internet influence? There seems to be no consequence that would stop these predators.
The reporting is not helping in seeming to pity the criminal.
How do we change how thinking about women and girls in a predatory way happens?

frozendaisy · 10/07/2026 11:40

If that was my daughter I would take the sentence

prison would be the safest place for it

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/07/2026 11:52

And people wonder why vigilante justice is a thing. Please believe me I’m not advocating or encouraging anything. How would that help that little girl, but If I had to put my hand on the Holy Bible I can how and why it happens

RiotNotDiet · 10/07/2026 12:39

Why on earth is his ‘baby face’ commented on? Good that he sobbed. I bet his victim has sobbed too. The headline should be ‘outrage as yet another violent child rapist faces no consequences’ or ‘another abused child will never have any justice.’ Ffs.

That judge should be fucking sacked. How do we start the appeal?

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 10/07/2026 12:58

If I was her mother I’d be raging. I’ll bet my house he does it again

fashionqueen0123 · 10/07/2026 12:59

Omg. Why was the sentence suspended! This is horrific. Can people refer it for being too lenient?

AuntieNorma · 10/07/2026 13:00

How do we appeal against this failiure of justice?

Yetanotherone12 · 10/07/2026 13:02

I believe anyone can raise an objection to an unduly lenient sentence.

Yetanotherone12 · 10/07/2026 13:05

It sounds like we need to change our sentencing rules:

Sentencing Wilson, Judge Penny Moreland said she had to impose the sentence that would likely have been handed down at the time of the offence, when Wilson was 15.

Meadowfinch · 10/07/2026 13:12

They really don't give a toss about the safety of women & girls, do they.

From the supreme court, through No 10, to magistrate courts and the police, no matter what lip service they come out with.

I hope someone takes their revenge on this little creep. He deserves everything he gets.

Time to request another review of sentence.

KayFabe · 10/07/2026 13:14

Women are sent to prison for non-payment of council tax and tv licences ffs. Some years ago now, I received a 2 year suspended sentence and 2 years probation with 2 years rehabilitation (this rapist has been given 60 days) for drug possession.
If women were committing violent sex crimes towards males, they certainly would not get a slap on the wrist.
I can only imagine how fucking pissed off these girls feel. How bloody unfair.

Meadowfinch · 10/07/2026 13:15

This sentence is already being reviewed. The ULS page on the govt web site is asking that no further requests are made on this specific case, because it is already under review.

Thank goodness. Thankyou for the information. Surely someone, somewhere, is waking up the fact that the sentencing laws are … oh.. what’s that phrase. The law is an ass?! It’s worse than that though. In such scenarios, the law is actually toxic.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 10/07/2026 13:39

Do we need to do more overt teaching in schools about younger children? That it’s totally unacceptable to date two years younger, for example? I know 15 is young and stupid, but 12 is so much younger!

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/07/2026 14:18

There should be mandatory significant prison for anyone who rapes a child. I’m a bleeding heart leftie but the recidivism rate for sex offending is extremely high. Offenders are only really safe to women when they are locked up.

Yetanotherone12 · 10/07/2026 14:38

I think we need a general overhaul of the sentencing guidelines tbh.

we’ve come a long way in the last 20 years on getting rapists and sex offenders firstly to court, and secondly convicted. The law hasn’t caught up with the modern world where these crimes are now dealt with seriously.

they belong to the world where women asked for it, wives couldn’t be raped, men were believed, and the impact on the rapist was more important.

would a petition work? Not this case specifically, but to campaign to get the sentence rules changed. Surely we can’t go on with these lenient sentences that have to be constantly reviewed.

Sodthesystem · 10/07/2026 14:50

I pretty sure half the country would support minimum 10 year sentences with no early realise for sex offenders right? Even if it meant lesser crimes got shorter sentences due to prison overcrowding. So why the f are these guys still only getting slaps on the wrist?! Bloody patriarchy.

Me too.
I would give you an alibi also.

RoseOliviaAu · 10/07/2026 14:53

I saw two men convicted of selling girls as young as 13 given just 2.5 years. Literally pimping out little kids for money and they get a pathetic sentence!

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/07/2026 14:54

One reason sentences are not mandatory is that juries are reluctant to convict at the best of times, and if it was mandatory 10 years, and some nasty, violent little shit looked a bit sad in court they might be even less likely. But CHILD ABUSE FFS. Who wouldn't support 10 years for someone raping a 12 yo?

Did his 12 year old victim also have a “baby face”? Or maybe she was acting provocatively, wearing skimpy clothing, enticing the rapist to commit an offence…. because to my way of thinking describing a rapist ( who was 15 when the offence occurred so well above the age of criminal responsibility) in terms that imply that he was unaware of his actions due to his immaturity is on the same level of skewing the truth of the matter as victim blaming a child.

I can only cynically conclude that since victim blaming is now quite rightly seen as unacceptable, implying that perpetrators are immature and childlike is the new get out of jail free card some judges think rapists should be given.

This particular baby faced rapist is now an adult, in an adult males body, with the strength and power to overcome resistance from most women, let alone 12 year old children. do these judges not know any women or children to understand what a loaded weapon they have released into the community?

Meadowfinch · 10/07/2026 18:38

"His baby face" !!

Did Judge Penny Moreland fancy him? Did he appeal to her maternal instinct? Wtf was she thinking?

HE WILL DO IT AGAIN, YOU STUPID WOMAN, no matter how pretty he is.

Yet another judge who doesn't give a toss about the safety of women and girls.

Another judge who needs to stand down. She is completely divorced from reality and not fit to sit in judgement.

TheFormerMrsTruelove · 10/07/2026 20:06

When rapists are being treated on a level with persistent shoplifters, you know something has gone badly wrong.

Does anyone know who is responsible for setting sentencing guidelines?

Was it the judge who called him “baby-face”?

surely it’s the daily express headline- I can’t find anything that suggests it’s a quote.

tbf to the judge their hands are often tied by sentencing guidelines. If you read my pp the sentences are a hangover from when sexual assault was seen completely differently - men couldn’t rape their wives until relatively recently.

the judge did state she had to impose the sentence that would have applied when the crime was committed. Which to me sounds like she would have liked to give him a less lenient term.

fortunately the Police and the CPS are changing and prosecuting, but the sentencing needs dragging into this century as well.
