Leslie Odom Jr appreciation thread

If you've clicked on this thread, then you know.

You HAVE to be in the room where it happens this summer.

Leslie blew me, and the audience, away last night. He had a full 3 minute standing ovation before he sang a note. He had to restart the opening number. The atmosphere throughout the whole show was electric.

My 4th time seeing the show. My first time sobbing through the majority of the second half.

You could tell Leslie was living his best life being back on the Hamilton stage again. It IS his role.

If I were you, I'd beg, steal, borrow or barter and get yourself to a show this summer.

I’ve literally convinced everyone I know to enter the lottery weekly and take me if they win 😂 I love him, but I’m not paying £500 for a ticket (well, I’m not NOW but if FOMO hits hard enough towards the end of summer, all bets are off)

OP don’t know if you’ve seen this, but I have tickets for this as my ‘backup’ https://lwtheatres.co.uk/whats-on/leslie-odom-jr/

Globules · 07/07/2026 07:45

I had seen that, thank you.

It'll be amazing, I'm sure.

I managed to get tickets on release day, so £500 for the 4 of us to go.

Not cheap by any stretch, but normal west end stalls prices.

Worth every penny.

We’re going at the end of the month, my third time, eldest’s second and DH and youngest’s first. I anticipate a big cry as well 😆

Totaldramallama · 07/07/2026 08:23

I couldn't even figure out how to get tickets but I'll be doing the lottery over summer. I always cry at Hamilton but I think I'll cry the whole way through if I get tickets for this. I'm welling up thinking about it

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 07/07/2026 08:27

I get to see him at the end of the month and I cannot wait! I am so happy he will be here and we all get to witness how amazing he is, I think ill be crying my eyes out!

I'm still buzzing and foresee I will be for the next few days.

I came to work and hugged 2 of my colleagues who have tickets in the next few weeks. I told them what a ride they've got to look forward to.

Sorry, had to google him.

ZootSuit · 07/07/2026 16:49

I have tickets for next month, it will be my third visit and I'm not sure I'll be able to go back after seeing Leslie! Cannot wait!

I'd love love love to see him but at £2k for us to go, it's simply out of reach.

Last time we saw Hamilton, the cast were pretty bloody brilliant so I'm not complaining.

But to actually see LOJ as Burr? The dream.

SoScarletItWas · 07/07/2026 20:04

I’ve seen Hamilton more times than I care to admit to. I’ve got Leslie tickets for August and it will be special, but I think we are SO spoilt with our West End casts and don’t want to take anything away from their brilliance. Stephenson and Leslie on stage together will be fab and I bet the whole cast will be delighted to share the time with him 🤩

CatBusStop · 07/07/2026 20:09

We’re going next week. Then to save up in hope that Christopher Jackson comes to the west end after his broadway return….

Stephenson was amazing.

It was the first time I've seen him.

So I can't say for definite that performing with Leslie brought out the best version of his Hamilton. I imagine it did though 😁

JUST BOUGHT TICKETS!!!!!

Yes - I AM shouting!

DH and I are going to be in London for a few days later this month and had been trying to get tickets for a show but couldn’t find anything available when we looked. We had given up on Hamilton and were looking at TKAM, but DH wasn’t fussed on it and it was expensive when it wasn’t a show he was ecstatic about.

We had planned to enter the lottery for Hamilton on the very off chance we won, but when I saw this thread, and clicked to look at the lottery page, I saw that there were actually tickets available for each of the 2 nights were available.

Can’t believe it!

We’ve seen it twice before - once on Broadway and once in the touring show in Dublin. Both were amazing in different ways - I actually preferred the Hamilton performer in the Dublin show, but the Hercules Mulligan/James Madison performer and the women in NY were far, far stronger.

I predict tears this time around.

Our teen/adult DC may never talk to us again. (They came to Dub to see it with us, but weren’t in NYC and won’t be in London)

That would be great. I have to say the Washington I saw on the West end did lack the gravitas of Washington and was a little disappointing

B9waiting · 07/07/2026 20:53

I am so jealous! Love him!

We went last night - the whole cast is fantastic. Stephenson as Hamilton is just so so brilliant, what a voice! But Leslie is a force and was phenomenal. He has really developed the part and is enjoying it so much. The King made him laugh in the Adams Administration, he’s winking at and interacting with the audience in several places; it’s just lovely to witness.

SoScarletItWas · 16/07/2026 08:03

They always do the laugh in The Adams Administration 🤭

I go in August, am looking forward to Stephenson as much as anything as I’m glad he’s back 🤩

CatBusStop · 16/07/2026 08:04

Ah ok I’ve never seen it live before…

Seriouslyoverit · 16/07/2026 08:38

I am so jealous and my teen DD was desperate to see this.
Can anyone tell me what sources I need to sign up to in order to make sure I know about hot tickets and am in with a shout ? What is the lottery you speak of ?
I also missed Jesus Christ superstar so need to up my game !

SoScarletItWas · 16/07/2026 08:48

@Seriouslyoverit follow the shows on social media - they will post about ticket release dates.

Now, keep checking the Delfont Mackintosh website for Hamilton tickets. They do get returns that can pop up.

The Hamilton lottery is via the TodayTix app. You can win to buy £10 tickets for upcoming shows - best for those who are fairly local although I did once win for a Saturday matinee which was perfect as I live in the Midlands! Full info on the Hamilton website:

We have tickets for next month & I cannot wait! Have seen Hamilton in the West End twice before but to see the original Aaron Burr is gonna be something else!

PiggyPlumPie · 16/07/2026 09:19

I'm going tonight and I'm so excited! After seeing Sam Ryder and Billy Nevers and co last night at JCS I think I might combust!

We've come down from Aberdeen and it's been worth every penny so far! (Might have seen Caberet at the Kit Kat Club and Oliver! as well..)
