I think mine would be Jurassic Park. It's a film that I go back to all the time, and just reminds me of my childhood.

Jurassic Park was definitely one of those watershed films. But for me I think it would be The Matrix for effects overload. So much going on and so many groundbreaking techniques.

Pulp Fiction is another one that just felt special in terms of the subject matter, the soundtrack and the non linear timeline (yes, I'm sure it wasn't the first). But it felt so fresh

Ah, I was going to say Jurassic Park too! Or Jaws.

Pansykavalier · 04/07/2026 18:23

Gone with the Wind
Rosemary’s Baby
The China Syndrome
Catch 22

The whole Rocky Franchise! I watched and loved the first one when I was 8 (I was a weird child 😂) and have loved every single one since then. I still watch them all once a year (I’m now 40!) and know a lot of the words off by heart 🙈

SomeoneIsWrongOnTheInternet · 04/07/2026 18:37

Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings. All of them. Can’t get enough of middle earth.

ET..happy memories

TheThirteenthFairy · 04/07/2026 18:39

Blade Runner (not the director's cut).

firstofallimadelight · 04/07/2026 18:39

Sixth sense. I was completely stunned at the end. No film has ever tricked me to the same extent although Shutter Island had a good try.

TheThirteenthFairy · 04/07/2026 18:40

I see we've moved onto more than one so -
Farewell my concubine
Raise the red lantern
The Grey

MauriceTheMussel · 04/07/2026 18:41

Whiplash

Rocky 4 training montage is cinematic genius. 😊

This one for me too … but without my housemate at university spoiling the twist 🤬

Hatty65 · 04/07/2026 18:43

Possibly The Magnificent Seven or The Great Escape. I've watched them so many times now.

FluffMagnet · 04/07/2026 18:45

Jurassic Park too OP, the magic of seeing the dinosaurs for the first time again! Followed by the Lord of the Rings triology, but especially The Fellowship of the Ring. We went each Christmas holiday to the cinema, and was blown away!

Allseeingallknowing · 04/07/2026 18:50

The Others

Sgtmajormummy · 04/07/2026 18:51

Amélie.
I’d love to be surprised by the quirkiness again.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/07/2026 18:51

The Tamarind Seed - I don’t suppose anyone else will have heard of it. Featured Julie Andrews in her first non-sweet role, and Omar Sharif as the Russian who’s trying to recruit her as a spy - or is he?
Some heart stoppingly scary 70s Cold War moments, and a couple of brilliant twists. Plus partly set in Barbados, at a hotel where we’ve stayed.

ThesophisticatedJY · 04/07/2026 18:52

Imitation of Life
The Sound of Music
The Remains of the Day

Madisnttheword · 04/07/2026 18:53

Inception

CoodleMoodle · 04/07/2026 18:57

Hot Fuzz!
(I liked the other two movies in the Cornetto Trilogy as well but HF is the best by a mile. Imo it's one of the greatest films ever made.)

UncleTed · 04/07/2026 19:07

Avatar (first one)

Allseeingallknowing · 04/07/2026 20:05

The Green Mile
Sisu

PenelopeJoanSterling · 04/07/2026 20:07

Tomb raider with angie jolie, due to how much history could be and the power of artifacts etc

JoyousOpalLemur · 04/07/2026 20:08

Monty Python and the Life of Brian

DozyCrow · 04/07/2026 20:10

The Green Mile. It's my favourite film and I watch it regularly.
