Hello new new user name.

RaininSummer · 03/07/2026 19:26

Slugs, woodlice, silverfish, mice , a squirrel and random trespassing cats. Not all at once.

SoScarletItWas · 03/07/2026 19:28

A mouse, but I was on holiday near a forest in a Nordic destination at the time and it was three years ago 😉

Britainisgreat · 03/07/2026 19:29

Mice, beetles, spiders...

pimplebum · 03/07/2026 19:30

yes of course i don't live in a sealed container

leggingsbotoxmatcha · 03/07/2026 19:31

Yeah but I broke up with him eventually.

BrokenWing · 03/07/2026 19:33

Birds (including an inquisitive and scary magpie once)
Slugs, earwig, clothes moths, spiders, bees, fruit flies
A cat wandering about living room while our lab just lay there and watched it
Wasps (quite a few chasing one of ds’s friends into house when they disturbed an underground nest)

pkt3chgirl · 03/07/2026 19:36

Mouse in cupboard, squirrel in loft, parrot in house (bunch of wild green ones near here). Slugs, snails and whatever the elderly dcat can catch to bring as a gift.

sesquipedalian · 03/07/2026 19:42

Next door’s (vicious) cat came I to the hall, took up residence and spat and hissed at me. I eventually got past him with a brim and was able to open the front door and see him off the premises. The cats once brought in a baby rat and then let it loose upstairs - took us a few days to recapture it. I had a bird once in the utility room - got it out with a fishing net.

Rozendantz · 03/07/2026 19:45

Sodding car bought in a live mouse at 2AM today which I then had to chase around the bedroom while the bloody cat ignored it. Does that count?

Redheadedstepchild · 03/07/2026 19:46

Oh yeah!

In deepest darkest Lancashire in an old farmhouse my mum thought would be an excellent renovation project:

Wasps' nest.
Frogs.
A bird in my bedroom.

But the best is:

Slugs in a bag of sugar after coming in late from babysitting on the night Princess Diana died. They had turned completely transparent from the gorging.

I considered befriending the slugs as emotional support critters to watch the 24 hour rolling news with after I'd stopped hawking and dry retching but then just threw out most of the cupboard contents. It was a high up wall cupboard as well. You had to admire their literal tenacity.

"Where were you when Diana died?"

"I was sicking up Rice Krispies after I'd nearly spooned a slug into my cereal bowl."

Cats used to bring in live mice for me to catch. Now they have crossed the rainbow bridge, we get more random cats, plus various bees, wasps, spiders and the odd grasshopper. Lots of birds and squirrels in the garden but they don't venture in.

NellyTimes · 03/07/2026 19:49

Two toads, a pheasant, a robin, a blackbird, a pigeon, couple of dragonflies, a cockchafer beetle. I do miss that garden though, so much wildlife compared to where I am now.

PinkNailPolish2026 · 03/07/2026 19:50

Numerous. Foxes, squirrels, mice, spiders, we had a mink years ago at a holiday cottage we stayed at. The worst was Thailand, we had a couple of snakes and huge spiders.

afaloren · 03/07/2026 19:52

One of my cats brought a live squirrel in once. I was terrified it would bite me. Hovered a garden cushion near it and it hopped on. I carried it out into the garden and it jumped onto a tree!

macaroon8 · 03/07/2026 20:03

Mice, rats, bats (randoms plus a nursery roost) pigeons( one rescue) blackbirds, wrens, swallow, spiders, flies, wasps, a pony, daddy long legs, wood lice, beetles, bees, random cat, random dog, slugs, silver fish, milli/centipedes

Think thats it...

user293948849167 · 03/07/2026 20:05

Yes I have a cat so a few birds, bats and mice let loose in here.
Also shrews and once a mole (dead unfortunately).

Timeforatincture · 03/07/2026 20:13

A pony? WTF? We have cats so whatever they bring in, but the silliest invasion was the fox that ambled in through the patio door and settled down to watch University Challenge

lmnabc · 03/07/2026 20:58

Woodlice endlessly despite fumigating bombs

Shedmistress · 03/07/2026 21:00

I get lizards in the bedroom and hall during the hot summers.

It was a house pony (it was a tiny thing ) had been relocated and it escaped it's field and walked inside ours. It's owners had their entire ground floor tiles to make clean ups easy. It was about the size of a Great Dane.

JoyousWriter · 03/07/2026 21:13

Woodlice, silverfish, spiders, hornets, flies.

Headlice.

Mice.

Bats

A squirrel.

😄 Are you sure it wasn’t a rat?

Pickledonion1999 · 03/07/2026 21:18

Had a big frog hop in once and this week a baby bird that couldn't fly just sort of hopped through the patio doors and around the kitchen until I ushered it out. Also had a pigeon come down the chimney in my bedroom last year. Our neighbor came with a big net on a stick and caught it for me.

XenoBitch · 03/07/2026 21:20

Heard a snuffling sound under my bed. It was a hedgehog!
