A quiet and friendly corner of MN to share the very dull day to day happenings of our lives. No criticisms, political discussions, or controversies here. Think of it as neighbors (I'm a Yank) chatting over the garden fence or having a cup of tea while the kids play together. Everyone is welcome.

It will be calming for all.

That's a stunning car, MrsP. I hope your DH gets the problem sorted out, whatever it may be. Your day out at the vineyard sounds very enjoyable.

Sue would your spaniel tolerate gabapentin? I have to give one tablet to Dcat before taking her to the vet every time. She's about 11 lbs and it makes her much less reactive while still awake and noticing everything.

Gorgeous holiday photos, Sprouts.

An exciting evening for you all, havoc. Hope your mum is ok.

We had a wet Saturday, a very good thing as I had forgotten to water my deck plants. A few more peppers have set, so it looks as if I'll have at least six in the end.

Looking forward to baking bread later today, and we'll have Italian sausage meatballs with fettuccine for dinner. The local supermarket's own sausage is very good. I have some work to finish to prepare for next week, and also need to do laundry. So much for the day of rest...

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/08/2026 18:36

Penguins, I'm imagining this when you go out in the car! 😄

mathanxiety; Possibly. I'm hoping we can manage it without strong prescription meds first.

MrsSPenguinz · 02/08/2026 20:11

Thanks @mathanxiety Baked bread sounds wonderful.

😎@Mumtobabyhavoc

Did about 4.5 hours of cleaning house and doing garden with DH and we got a lot done but tired now. DH made a lovely Sunday roast with cauli cheese so we had that and just having dinner now. DS finished the cookie dough ice cream and took a bath whilst we gardened. DH got more ice cream, luckily the shop is right by our house for emergency ice cream. I hoovered all upstairs, cleaned upstairs bathroom, cleaned kitchen walls and floor, cleaned entrance hall floor and walls and then picked up leaves in the garden and cleaned the outside windows of the kitchen, entrance hall and living room. DH hoovered living room, dining room and stairs and planted the plants we bought at the plant nursery and the silkies were out with us singing. DH also put filler in the kitchen ceiling where there was one crack from before and we will paint soon hopefully.
Heard from the replacement shed roof guy, says he's been on holiday and will respond soon.

So much to catch up on. Penguinz, that car is fabulous. What make and year is it? It might well be the heat that's causing it to act up now. I love your wooden fence and the plantings.

Sue, I second the recommendation for gabapentin. Our vet won't see one of our cats unless she's had it before the visit. It makes her quite docile. She's been labeled as a "difficult patient". 😁

Math, your rain is headed our way, not that we need it after all we've had for the last few weeks. The Italian grocery I shop at also does some lovely sausages.

My large heirloom tomatoes are finally starting to ripen, and I'm getting some lovely colors in my late-blooming zinnias. Alfred the aloe is also thriving in this heat. I took the last picture as the cat, who adores being out on the deck, was heading inside. He's the calm cat and does very well at the vet.

Lots of driving today. Visited friends with Havoc for the afternoon in a suburb, Langley. Took Highway 1 over the Port Mann Bridge, which is fairly new. Pics are east then west.

Emergency ice cream indeed! 😋
Lovely deck, Miss. 😍
Mmm bread, meatballs and peppers. Invite, please, Math. 😋😋😋😋😋

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/08/2026 00:53

Bizzey, sounds lovely! How do you mix your Pimms? I've had it with lemonade or ginger ale.

bizzey · 03/08/2026 01:17

Ahh @Mumtobabyhavoc ..that actually was a big question today!

I have only ever known it to be mixed with lemonade

I have heard of the ginger beer my x.

Mam made a face when I brought out the pimms !!

But she said it was one of the nicest ones she had tasted !!

To be fair ...
I think the ratio they make it at the church fair and places is a 1:4 cheap cheap value lemonade..

I made ...1:1 proper lemonade with wonderful fresh fruit !!

And lots of ice ..

It was so lovely to drink

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/08/2026 07:22

Bizzey, in the past when I've mixed one up at home it was ginger ale pop, cucumber spear, Pimms. In Australia, it was lemonade & Pimms. It's a very rare drink here. I just Googled and saw the ginger beer version. I don't anyone else who knows it, but it's easily found in liquor stores. I don't really drink alcohol, haven't really for years now, but I still have a bottle of it in the fridge, so next time you're in the neighbourhood, pop by and I'll mix one up for you. I miiiiight have one, too 🙂

MyrtleLion · 03/08/2026 09:37

I have to go to London for a meeting but I will then have dinner with a friend later.

sueelleker · 03/08/2026 14:57

Had a follow-up appointment with my GP re. the small patch of skin cancer on my hip. Despite treatment, I still have a bit left; so he's referring me to the hospital dermatology unit. It's very slow-growing, so there's no rush or panic.

Had an amazing day out at Windsor with my boys 😍!

Loads of photos so may have to be a photo dump as it is getting difficult to post photos now.

Basically...all my photos are from Windsor and the Castle .

Apart from this best one !

DS 1 and I needed a double 4 to win the darts match against the other 2 ...

Look how close I was 😁😁😄!

Fun fact..
That table I posted was a 1/6 (th) of the size of the whole. Banquet table that they use .

I will find the full length picture.

The guide said they have it dismantled and then they put all the bits together.

Castle is closed every Tuesday and Wednesday in order to get these prepared.

We went into the investiture room as well ..
But there were people looking at me...so couldn't use my phone !

Nice pics, everyone!

We also had a day out yesterday, in your neck of the woods @MrsSPenguinz- Cambridge. DH is a graduate of King’s College and every year for several years now they’ve let the lawns behind the Chapel grow as a wildflower meadow. They then mow it with a team of horses and yesterday was the mowing so we went along. A few pics attached.

The lovely horses are shires and called Cosmo and Bryn (I asked). They’re beautifully placid and unbothered by the fairly large group of people taking photos, most of whom I managed to exclude from my shots 😂

The mown flowers/grass/hay is dried and rolled up into mats. You used to be able to buy it to get the seeds - not sure whether they still do this.
