Anfield stadium not allowing people to take suncream to concerts?

So Anfield haven't been allowing people to take their own sunscreen into the Foo Fighters concerts.

They say that there are stations in the stadium but I wouldn't want to use some random sunscreen that will probably be all gunked up after the first 50 people have used it. I wouldn't trust it or the ingredients. My daughter is also VERY fussy about textures and sunscreen is a trigger. Plus, if it's hot and sweaty, I would need to reapply it which would potentially mean missing part of the concert I've paid a fortune for and losing my spot.

I get them not wanting to allow big bottles of factor 50 in in case people are trying to smuggle alcohol or whatever but surely that can be negated by asking people to decant into clear bottles?

Put on one of those all day sun creams and it won't be an issue.

ShetlandishMum · 27/06/2026 13:02

Then don't go.

FionnulaTheCooler · 27/06/2026 13:02

I wouldn't be able to use a communal suncream station either as I have sensitive skin and only a couple of brands don't bring me out in prickly heat rash. It seems like a very overzealous rule.

Wear long sleeves, take a scarf and hat.... you won need sunscreen.

Can she wear a UPF hat and clothing over most of her and just use some mineral sun cream on exposed skin?

Sunshineandrainbow · 27/06/2026 13:03

They should limit the sizes if necessary. Place I am going tomorrow it's allowed under a certain size

Not for everyone. I'm a redhead and have very UV-sensitive skin. I can burn through clothing and factor 50 sunblock if not regularly reapplied. I'm sure there are many other people like me.

I have Solbari UV clothing (after a recommendation on here!) I have a wide brimmed hat and some long sleeved wrap type tops. They come from Australia though so take avweek or so to arrive.

Lots of us burn even with all-day sun creams on, especially if you're in a hot stadium and are going to sweat and brush up against lots of other people.

TeenLifeMum · 27/06/2026 13:07

That sucks. I have to reapply (currently treated for skin cancer) but have allergies to many sun creams so can’t use generic ones. Thankfully not an issue I need to deal with.

loobylou10 · 27/06/2026 13:13

They hardly check bags in my experience. Have a bag with lots of zip pockets and hide a small sunscreen in one of them. They won’t look.

Teeed · 27/06/2026 13:16

How long is the concert? I would work around this by applying just before I went in. It’s easy to decant some into something disposable for a one off.

TinyTempest · 27/06/2026 13:18

Has ITV reported it wrong then? Or is 100ml not enough for you?

  • Sunscreen: Fans are strongly advised to apply sunscreen before leaving home and bring a bottle with them. Due to the high temperatures, sunscreen will be permitted inside Anfield, but it must be travel-sized (100ml or less) and in a plastic container. Aerosols and pressurised bottles are strictly banned. Free sunscreen will also be handed out upon entry.

Venues shouldn't be allowed to do this. My son is going to a concert today and was stressed about taking a bottle of water. It is ridiculous. Yes ok someone might throw a bottle, but the damage caused to people by not being able to drink and use sunscreen is much greater!

Some venues don't let you take bags in, only the teeny tiniest ones which re big enough for a phone and key.

Problem solved then!

That is all really sensible guidance.

imeanwtf · 27/06/2026 13:32

Very normal to only allow 100ml.

Although when I went to Anfield (for the football!) I ended up with a club shop bag, I put my normal bag inside that and they didn’t bat an eyelid when I took it in that way.

Ponderingwindow · 27/06/2026 13:36

I would not have a problem
decanting my suncream into a smaller container. I actually do that anyway.

I would have a problem with using a generic product. People need to be able to use an allergen free suncream.

as someone who has to bring their own hand soap with them even though that gets rinsed off immediately, I’m certainly not going to trust a cream I leave on my body not to send me to the hospital.

TinyTempest · 27/06/2026 13:37

If anyone doesn't want to buy a 100ml bottle especially, just decant some into a ziplock bag.

GardenCovent · 27/06/2026 13:38

Where did you get your information from op as Anfield are not banning you from taking sunscreen in. Yes it has to be decanted into a smaller container or just take a travel size one but it’s def not banned

GardenCovent · 27/06/2026 13:40

I got that info from the Liverpool FC website

TinyTempest · 27/06/2026 13:46

It's odd that the OP says they've paid a fortune, yet they didn't bother checking the stadium's site, or even the news?

ETA: Odd not to check before posting misinformation.

Shinyandnew1 · 27/06/2026 13:50

I would imagine anyone working for Anfield won’t be happy to read your thread title when it’s completely untrue!

I'd heard that there's no such thing as a once a day sunscreen, not in reality when it comes to protection.
