Good morning from a Travelodge bed in Newcastle, with dd1. We're just waking up & getting dressed ish for breakfast.

After that, we're coming back to nap & then shower before heading for our flight to Dublin for a gig tonight. We're meeting one of dd's friends and her mum there.

Dd2 should hopefully be sorting out the remains of her GCSE work with their dad & getting rid so there's space for dd1 to move back next weekend.

What about all of you? 🙂

I’ve already been out to get some steps in, it was lovely at 7am, and I did some litter picking. The rest of the day will be spent clearing the washing and keeping the dog cool. Can’t wait for it to cool down tomorrow.

SuperSange · 27/06/2026 08:27

off to a friends daughter’s 4th birthday party with another friend this avo. It’ll be lovely, in the local village hall. Nice day for it.

MarthaBerry · 27/06/2026 08:28

Been awake early, put washing out at 7, another load on. Tea in bed with dog now and hoping for a nap but wish I was at a hotel having breakfast. One of life great pleasures is a hotel breakfast !

Bubblewrapart · 27/06/2026 08:31

What a lovely sounding day @lucysmam !

DS7 and I are home alone today so we're still tucked into bed reading. Bliss. Going to start breakfast soon, then we're off to the theatre for a morning matinee. This afternoon there's an armed forces day taking place locally, will meet my youngest and parents there for a bit 🥰

Ladyoftheapple · 27/06/2026 08:33

Driving home and then heading to bed after my night shift 😴

frozendaisy · 27/06/2026 08:34

Morning morning morning

I intend to nothing much today
Eldest had las resit mock yesterday which has been intense for weeks - he is out for the afternoon thank god! (Love him to bits obviously)

H has to go for a collection Mike’s away heat just getting ready to go so whilst he is driving up and down the country I will slowly get dressed and see where we are when he gets back

Thai green tofu curry and football later

frozendaisy · 27/06/2026 08:35

@lucysmam enjoy sunny Dublin

Meadowfinch · 27/06/2026 08:43

I've just put the 2nd load of washing on, about to make another coffee. Then do the bathrooms, and the kitchen floor.

Ds is working an early shift at the pool so I'll make him some breakfast, then drop him off before doing the food shop.

This afternoon, cut the lawn, water the greenhouse and veggies, catch up with a couple of friends, and then collect ds at 7pm.
Then supper in the garden. 😎

Good morning, we’re in Toronto on holiday so its 3:30am here but my brain thinks its 9:30. When its actual normal morning hours we’re going out for breakfast before going to the hockey hall of fame centre, then the CN tower, after lunch we’re going to a castle, I have no idea what its called. We have a friend who lives here so he’s joining us for food tonight.

I love Dublin @lucysmam

Have a great saturday, I hope its a bit cooler in the UK today.

Loveinbloom · 27/06/2026 08:50

I am going to sit and re read the fabulous Octavia by Jilly Cooper. It is so of it's time, but it is set in the heatwave of '76 and I love being transported back to that summer. I was 22, and having a blast!
Massive bonus is Jilly's beautiful descriptions of the English countryside, as her characters cruise along in a narrowboat. Bliss!

Whatever everyone us up to today, enjoy yourselves and stay frosty😃

Blahblahblahhhhhs · 27/06/2026 09:00

Oh I don’t know. Feeing a bit like my username today !

I am up and dressed but feeling fed up.

im going to get a cup of tea and eat the last banana in a minute.

today’s not very productive plan including film a few booktok videos for next week (thinking if i make 15 then i will be sorted through the week) - side note i have made a total of £500 and 31 free books (new releases, special editions and kids books which eventually go to work)

get a wash load on , vacuum down stairs and clean the Guinea pig.

might go to the shop and buy a magnum 😉

truthfully I think I’m feeling a bit loanly for the first time in a long while- normally get very stressed if a don’t get a day or two’s complete peace now and again but not this weekend!

Rowgtfc72 · 27/06/2026 09:10

Morning!
Up at 5am to walk the dog. Packed dh and dd off to work and now sat on the sofa with a sausage and mushroom bun watching Jackie.
Looking forward to temps of 31° yesterday which is better than yesterday's 35°, (oh how i hate summer- I'm a winter kid me)
Not sure how much cleaning I'll get done!
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

You've inspired me to read that book! I much prefer books written years ago.

Good morning @lucysmamand all. Enjoy the gig - ds1 was in Dublin last weekend for a concert and had an amazing time (and about a million pints of Guinness!)
I had a lie in until 8.30 which I regret a bit as I’ve missed the coolest part of the day, but needed it. It’s been a long and stressful week teaching in the heat, a funeral and sorting out my elderly mum’s discharge home from hospital. She finally landed home yesterday so I’ll be there today helping her settle. My aim is to get her out in the garden but she’s very nervous about her mobility so it’s about building her confidence back up. We’re also dealing with the whole new world of carers, which is hard when she’s used to being independent.
BBQ with the dc and ds1’s gf tonight before they all head out to watch the England match. I’m glad I’m not a football fan - couldn’t cope with the late nights.

Kim82 · 27/06/2026 09:33

Good morning everyone, I have a very busy house this morning. Dh is at work, dd18 is still asleep, dsis and BIL are milling around packing stuff for their night away tonight and dd11 and dniece13 who stayed last night are getting ready for dance.

So far today I’ve done 2 loads of washing and hung them outside and a third load is in the washer, I’m waiting for my Tesco delivery and dsis and BIL are going to drop the girls at dance at 10am and then head off to their night away watching the rugby. I’m going to clean the house once everyone has gone out, drop some food off with my brother as he’s struggling at the moment having been made redundant, pick the girls back up from dance at 2.30pm and either take my niece back home or bring her back to ours where she can stay again tonight if she wants to, the choice is hers. Dd18 is off to a bbq at a friend’s this afternoon and I plan on doing nothing once I’ve picked the girls up.

No idea what to have for tea, I might get a takeaway, I’ll see how I feel later. Ds24 and his boyfriend mentioned maybe coming round for wine and a film tonight to celebrate the boyfriend’s new job but there’s no definite plans for that yet. If not I’ll just enjoy a glass of wine myself and watch the football with dh before going to bed. I’m tired today!!

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 27/06/2026 09:49

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Had about 3 hours sleep so may need a nap later as want to be fresh for the England game tonight. DH brought me a cuppa in bed before he left for work around 8 & I am still there, although seriously considering getting up! I’ve tried on some clothes & made a pile to photograph for Vinted. Trying to wear different dresses as I have so many but tend to just throw on the same old thing. Today’s is leopard print. I think there’s just about enough to put a load of washing on. Then I will do DH’s white work shirts separately followed by his bike gear. Really must mop the kitchen floor! Dishwasher needs doing as per. DH has been saying about cleaning the bathroom all week so hopefully he’ll do it today. We could do with a few food items but I don’t think I’ll go today. Hoping to tidy out the freezer to better see what’s in there. No idea what’s for tea. I haven’t done a meal plan this week & honestly I can’t believe how much it’s affected things! I need my lists! Oh & need to photograph some jewellery to upload on Vinted. Got quite a few parcels to collect from the PO. Have a lovely Saturday all.

Rainbow1235 · 27/06/2026 10:20

Fallulah · 27/06/2026 10:22

The dog and I had a lovely long walk this morning; it is finally a little cooler.

Off to buy anything and everything that will tackle the flying ant issue we seem to have around our front door as they have found their way into a kitchen cupboard somehow. 🤢

Then I need to do hours of marking exam papers before finding somewhere we can take the dog much later with some water she can splash in. Will probably stay up for the England game.

cinquanta · 27/06/2026 10:33

Just back from a couple of hours at my non-airconditioned gym. Its a bit cooler in the morning than the evening. I'll cook DH his full "English" before he goes out and then I'll probably spend the rest of the day pottering in the garden.

ShipshapeShore · 27/06/2026 10:42

I'm still in my PJs. Going for a quick shower in a min. It's been a week in school and I need to catch my breath! The house has been neglected so I'm going to pop on a house reset guided clean later so I dont have to think and get back on track. I've decided on new frames finally so I'll go to Specsavers later and sort that out. I want to spend time reading too. @Blahblahblahhhhhs if you want to share your account I'll watch and like!

literallyevery · 27/06/2026 10:44

Woke up at 4:45 then managed to nod off again and got up at 6:45 🙌 thank god the heat has gone (mostly).
DH took DS to football and cycled down with DD as well, I went for a quick hair cut and matcha and now back home with a wash load just gone out to dry in the garden. Not sure what we’re doing the rest of the day but feeling good as now been AF for 5 weeks and plan to stay this way!

OchreSwan · 27/06/2026 10:58

Morning all. I’ve struggled in the heat this week so grateful for a slightly cooler day today. On my way to meet my mum and grandma for a coffee, and will go back with my mum to stay with my parents for the rest of the weekend. Couldn’t be happier to be escaping the city for the countryside!

Expect we’ll do something nice for dinner, and will be watching the England game with my dad this evening. Could do with an early night but the football is more important!

Peridot1 · 27/06/2026 11:00

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. Enjoy Dublin - my home town. (I have now got Summer In Dublin by Bagatelle on a loop in my head. I think it was from 1978.)

I woke up around 4.30 but managed to get back to sleep and was surprised to see it was 7.45 when I woke up. I have washed some towels and need to hang them out. And then do some more washing. DH has lost 20kg over the last year and finally has taken all the clothes that were too small for him from under the bed and I’m gradually washing them. There are a lot. He hates throwing anything away. There is a t-shirt from a stag do in 1990………

I have just vacuumed to deal with the insect cemetery that the house was becoming due to bugs and flies flying in and dying.

Not planning too much today. Need a quick supermarket run to get some salad bits and fruit. Also need to figure out what is for dinner today and tomorrow. We have bbq-ed a lot this week so maybe not that. I quite fancy just ordering some pizzas and having them in the garden but don’t think DH will be keen.

Might do a few things in the garden. Have a few plants to plant before they die. Should have done that first thing.

Then am planning on sitting in the garden in the shade with my book.

gingercat02 · 27/06/2026 11:02

Just having breakfast in the garden. I was at a silent disco with the work lot last night so it was a late one.
@lucysmamare you ever at home these days lol.
DH and I are thinking about going to Feast by the Sea, but it's quite windy so we can't decide

F1 qualifying this afternoon and then a quiet night in I think.

FamingolosForDays · 27/06/2026 11:03

Morning all.
@lucysmam who are you going to see!

I am absolutely exhausted. I havent slept well due to the heat (and lack of fans) and needing to be up early/late to try and cool the house down.
So far I've walked my uncle's dog who has come to stay for the weekend, watered the garden, treated an ants nest in my willow tree, and played mariokart with DS. Half way through my second cup of tea and considering going back to bed for a nap. It has cooled by a few degrees here although meant to go up to 30 this afternoon.
I have got to do some weeding, mow the lawn and cut some brambles back as its getting out of control again.

DS and I just discussing chicken wraps and potato salad for dinner.
The dog slept with DD last night and she has not emerged from her bedroom so I assume she has gone back to sleep!

Tomorrow my cousin is coming round, we haven't seen each other for a few years but we have had a very unexpected loss in the wider family, which reminded me to get in touch with her. I'm looking forward to it.

Then we will need to meal plan and get ready for the week ahead- DD and I are off to see Harry Styles on monday, I am seeing Biffy on Friday and there are various school events to plan for. Have a lovely weekend all!
