How stupid are Labour MPs?!

One after the other on the BBC this morning, all but one patting themselves on the back and almost dancing for how clever they are that they're forcing Starmer to resign so that Burnham will be coronated the new PM.

They all think they've got the new Boris.

Maybe he is, but it didn't work out very well for him - or for us - did it?

Starmer stood for leader once, won by a landslide, and then won a landslide general election. Burnham has stood for leader twice before, and got trounced both times. Winning a mayoral election in a Labour heartland is hardly a remarkable achievement.

They all seem to think Burnham will unite the left, but he hasn't given one policy idea that will appeal to left wing voters.

Starmer is a decent man. I don't regret voting for him. Burnham is an actor who says anything that he thinks will make him popular. I know who I'd rather have.

Ah yes, but people want the tax rules to benefit/encourage the behaviour they want but then scream and shout when someone they don't like uses that same scheme. It's the politics of envy. There should be no place in the political system for such stupidity. Tax policy should always be first and foremost to drive behaviour for the good of the country, not vested interests.

They are not infantile to them they are doing what they believe is right.

Nobody can accuse this gang of Labour MPs as being very bright. If they think Burnham is the answer, they haven’t understood the question. 🙄

Agree, and that's part of the problem, as they will probably find out by Crimbo, when the shine has gone off Andy, and everything else has got worse.

That's fine if they were running as independents. They weren't. They ran on a Labour manifesto, with Starmer as leader. It's fine to blame the press and social media and use the same old Labour trope that everyone is stupid and gullible apart from them, and incapable of understanding partisanship in the media, but it was those Labour MPs who have toppled Starmer and agitated for Burnham, and they that undermined their own government over and over again, despite being elected on a Labour manifesto. I suspect many of them just don't understand what the job of an MP under our system is. They still think they are activists.

I have wondered about this in relation to the fact that they were responding to what they were faced with in their constituencies in the local elections. But many of us didn't have the chance to vote then and I wondered if it was over-influenced by the view in the north. London seemed different again with the Greens, for instance. And with the Greens in mind, were they being persuaded by Burnham making noises about PR - as with Caroline Lucas preferring them to get behind him in Makerfield. Or, is Burnham simply all things to all men and women?

Very bad, certainly. (Though he was never prosecuted.)

Which is why Labour’s endless allegations about Tories (most of which allegations were and are false) make Labour look so hypocritical and stupid, given the shit that’s come out about Labour in just two years - and the complete absence of a shred of evidence for organised Tory government corruption.

Then they should have put forward a more honest manifesto at the last GE as to their plans. It's dishonest to stand on a manifesto and then almost immediately ignore, add or change it in so many ways.
