Operation Mincemeat (the musical) what's it like

I was just wondering if anyone had seen Operation Mincemeat (the musical), was it as good as the reviews say?

I’ve seen it twice, when it was still fairly new. I had to be strongly persuaded the first time but honestly, it’s FANTASTIC. I laughed & cried. Go.

Absolutely amazing.

Really, really good. My only niggle is that a couple of the performers were not intelligible at times, and we were near the front.

We are going this evening, very excited! Does anyone know if the theatre has air con? 🥵

I saw it at Southwark Playhouse so I don’t know where it’s on now - maybe google the theatre & see if the site mentions air con?

It's fab! We sat in a box and loved every minute of it.

It looks a bit cheesy & silly which I hate. Is it like that the whole way through?

I really enjoyed it I’m not sure I quite understand why so many say it’s the best thing they’ve ever seen, but that’s probs just a personal thing. It’s clever and funny and sad.

It’s on at the Fortune, which is on the list of all London theatres with aircon which I screenshot from a reel on Facebook. Haven’t accuracy checked it…

There is a certain silliness to it, but I wouldn’t say it was cheesy. It also has some very sad/emotional moments.

I thought it was absolutely brilliant. Very clever, funny and moving and I highly recommend it. I was a bit dubious but went on a colleague's recommendation and it was definitely worth going.

I had mixed feelings about it, probably not helped by the fact that I went with people who are not particular fans of musical theatre and I could feel their negativity in the way they engaged with the show. Spoilt it for me. Leaving that aside, I did find it quite cheesy and fundamentally felt that it probably wasn't the best medium for this particular story. I love a bit of musical theatre but this didn't really sit well with me.

Having said all that, I thought the actors were excellent, I enjoyed the music and I was quite fascinated by the way that the actors kept chopping and changing between roles. So as a pure bit of musical theatre I enjoyed it, but for a wartime story I felt that a musical wasn't the right medium.

Yes it does - We went last week on a hot day and it was fine. Not the chilly type of aircon, but didn’t really overheat wearing a T-shirt and light skirt.

it might depend where you’re sitting though as I heard that the top circle was warmer. We were on the middle level.

Is it still on in London? I thought it was touring now? Or is that as well as London?

I absolutely loved it! Very funny but also very moving. I cried which I wasn’t expecting. I had a brilliant time.

I enjoyed it and it was certainly very cleverly put together with an astonishing number of very quick costume changes and great staging.

I found the second half a bit dull though. They'd covered most of the plot in the first half and it felt like filler. Also the very hyped up acting and singing lost its novelty for me.

We loved it. Watched in Brighton a months or so ago. Enjoy!

Saw it in Nottingham last week and enjoyed it.

The show itself is really good - very well staged, and it manages to make the musical comedy work with the often serious subject matter.

The acting wasn’t brilliant though- a lot of “accent acting” where people thinking putting on a posh accent is somehow acting. The guy playing the older secretary was very good (men and women both play a range of parts of both sexes).
