Operation Mincemeat (the musical) what's it like

I was just wondering if anyone had seen Operation Mincemeat (the musical), was it as good as the reviews say?

I misread that as Operation Mumsnet. Now that I would see!

The guy playing the older secretary was very good (men and women both play a range of parts of both sexes).

That was why I had to be persuaded to see it, I thought it was going to be all gender woo. But he was so good that I cried.

I loved this show, as did my two daughters and 12 year old granddaughter. Funny, poignant, clever...all of it.

Saw it a couple of years ago in London. I thought it was excellent: funny, extremely poignant in places, great performances. It was a small theatre and quite intimate. I’m not sure if that would translate well into a bigger theatre.

Such a fast-paced, extremely funny, captivating show , and in a beautiful small theatre too. Highly recommended.

In September/October, really excited!

I've just been put off because I've not read anywhere how they treat the back story of Glyndwr Michael - are they sympathetic and decent? My mum is from Aberbargoed and he was added to the war memorial there as The Man Who Never Was (Y Dyn Na Fu Erioed). So provided it's respectful I would be happy to see it, but nothing I have seen really talks about the actual dead man at the centre of everything - if he is given agency in the musical then that would be great, not to mention important.

they are really respectful, there is a tribute at the end. I think the whole thing was done really well with lots of heart felt bits amongst the comedy.

I absolutely loved it. Big, big recommendation from me.

There is also a plaque at the fortune theatre to Hester ( the secretary) some fans tracked down her real story.

I really enjoyed it. It’s very clever and the way they switch characters and scenes with only 6 actors is very impressive. I wouldn’t say it’s the best thing I’ve seen though.

Thanks for those answering the respect question - it's not mentioned in any of the reviews only 'lots of laughter' - hence you can see why I was reticent to go. But it's brilliant to hear that there is a tribute to a person who wasn't just a dead body utilised for a military operation, but a man in his own right who fell on incredibly hard times and in a time when the welfare state simply didn't exist. Thanks so much @ZoeyBartlett and @Gizlotsmum I might look into going either when I'm next in London or when it comes on tour.

I've seen it twice, and would happily see it many more times. Funny, touching ("Dear Bill" 😢 ), brilliantly performed.
I've seen a lot of theatre, and this is absolutely one of the best.

It's dd's current favourite.
That means she has seen it probably about 20-30 times.

If I asked her to give you a lowdown on it only with a limit of 5000 words she'd run out of words. 🤣

I think I've only seen it once with her, but it's good. I was prepared to be sceptical, but no, it's good and respectful of the subject. The cast do a very good stage door too.
