A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour* *government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Rachel Reeves has backed Andy Burnham, and suggested that she would accept a demotion.
She obviously knows that she's got not chance of staying in the treasury (thank goodness).

I'm going now but I have to say I just cannot believe you think Rayner is beyond the pale for saying 'scum' and then apologising and KB is fine for likening a secretary of state to the Gestapo - the Gestapo - and making a point of bragging that she never apologises. And you all think she's clever and funny. If she is popular it's a shameful reflection on the public.

I don't care what you think! I've also not commented on what Kemi said as I've not seen it. It won't change my party allegiance, whatever it was.

'Shameful reflection on the public'? Get over yourself. Labour are currently a busted flush failing to read the political room in the country. Concentrate on your party's own failings and stop the sanctimony over those who don't share your political leaning.

But liberal use of "far right " for anyone who disagrees with you is fine?

I very much doubt that Starmer is regarded warmly or with respect around the world. That’s wishful Labour thinking.

And Starmer hasn’t achieved anything, abroad or at home. Except perhaps some sort of record for the most sackings of colleagues, aides and civil servants per month of his brief time as PM.

I do wish the left could break out of its delusional state of mind about the ability and worth of its politicians. If they’re incompetent, unpleasant, venal, loathsomely ambitious and untrustworthy etc etc, just admit it. I have no problem seeing and acknowledging that in plenty of Tories and universally in the ranks of Reform.

Your last paragraph exactly!! 👏

Good line about Keir having 400 knives in his back.

A line the speaker rebuked her for because, you know, 2 MPs have been stabbed to death in recent years. Jesus Christ - you lot are unbelievable what with this and the oh so funny 'bollard' what with this and the oh so funny 'bollard' moniker you endlessly use in homage to that wit and stellar PM Boris Johnson. As a Labour supporter it's been a difficult week but reading this has restored my faith in the left because, well, we're not like this!

Presumably it was a reference to Julius Caesar...

I imagine she can't wait to be released from the job. She's clearly under a huge amount of stress and I bet she feels quite unwell because of that.

While I'm not exactly sympathetic, as she did want the job, it can't be pleasant for her. Maybe a bit of empathy. But I've definitely not gone soft! 🤣🤣

Her personal popularity isn't translating into votes, though. So that is a problem for her as well as some comfort to those of us who dislike her!

This isn’t the thread for it. The other thread dislike her, that’d be a better fit.

I blame Starmer more for all this. He really does think he’s untouchable even when ousted. Such mediocre male confidence.

Oh stop being so patronising. People have differing opinions, get over it.

Middlerage · 25/06/2026 08:15

I hope Reeves is moved away from the economy altogether, she’s shown no signs at all of listening to any of the good ideas that policy experts had in the last two years for reform of the tax system for growth and for that reason alone…it’s not over til she officially gets the push though.

much as I’m liking the clothes! I wish I had near floor length pink blazer…

again that’s another well heeled politician with massive rental income who will still be an MP, she’ll be ok. Unlike the people who have been laid off since Labour got in….

Yeh that was a heavy line from Labour re bollard to try to sell him in. It didn’t work.

They’ll mostly be thinking about their own jobs anyway, and how to avoid the same fate from their electorate.

Has there been a General Election since she was leader? 🤔🤔🤔

Did I dream Aberdeen the other week?

A few by elections in left-leaning constituencies, and council elections which tend to be used as protest votes, aren't indicative of how people would vote in a GE. They're hovering around / above the same % as Labour in Westminster voting polls, so Labour should be concerned as to how well they (and Reform, sadly) will perform in a GE.

This was posted by Luke Tryl of More in Common on the day of the by-elections. The Conservatives are doing well in many council by elections.
Which explains why Labour supporters now have Kemi in their cross hairs.
