Weird Gordon Ramsay advert

WaffleParty · 16/06/2026 13:45

Now I am fully aware that I may be over-thinking this, but WTF is Gordon Ramsay doing with his new Uber Eats advert?
He goes into people’s houses all alpha male and hair gel and berates them for cooking from scratch - throws food on the floor and tells them to order Uber Eats.
I like a takeaway as much as the next person but this advert seems all wrong. Food waste is not funny especially with cost of living crisis and home cooking should be encouraged not ridiculed.
Feel free to tell me I’ve lost the plot!

“Food waste is not funny”? Oh don’t be silly. If you’ve paid for the food you can do whatever you want with it 🤷‍♀️ It isn’t stopping anyone else eating it. No issues with “wasting” food.

You’ve lost the plot.

MajorSamanthaCarter · 16/06/2026 13:49

I'm fairly certain he'd pretend to eat a turd if he was paid enough, he doesn't care about anything except the money.

Of course it is, he is playing on his "Kitchen Nightmares" Persona.

Oh right I misread, no i don't particularly think the men were being "alpha" it is a ridiculous advert though.

You've completely misunderstood the OP.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 16/06/2026 14:14

I definitely read the OP as saying GR is being alpha male, berating people etc. Agree though it is playing on his TV persona and the point is the irony of a chef telling people not to cook.

I phrased it clumsily. I meant GR is all alpha male - not that it’s all men.

He did ads for Burger King last year.

No I wasn’t - I was referring specifically to GR. no issue with the other men in the advert.

Yes, I've seen this and it's strange. He's surely not hurting for money unless his daughters wedding put him into a financial precarious spot? I doubt it!

DeedlessIndeed · 16/06/2026 14:23

I thought it was a really odd take.

I assumed (wrongly) that most chefs would be all about promoting cooking from scratch with decent quality ingredients.

I did raise an eyebrow and commented to DH, but then we agreed it just shows Ramsay will do pretty much anything for money. Which he wouldn't be the first to do so, nor the last.

Agree, it’s very strange! I guess he was a footballer as a kid so the point is it’s even more important to him than cooking? Whatever was intended, it’s odd.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/06/2026 14:32

I haven’t seen this ad, @WaffleParty, but it does sound particularly daft. Gordon is discouraging people from cooking from scratch - he really has sold his soul.
