Wealthy banker with connections to royalty is arrested in hunt for notorious 'Putney Pusher' | Daily Mail Online

I vividly remember this case which still haunts me and cannot believe it was ten years ago. Finally someone has been arrested who appears to be an ex army wealthy man.

I hope he is charged - so arrogant.

It's one of those things that sounds all righteous and shit until you think about how we need to run a system that actually encourages witnesses to come forward.

The "encouragement" is a country with law and order.

Your choice.

I'm not sure what you mean here, can you expand further? The poster is talking about penalising people who have information and don't come forward promptly (I agree with you it's possible someone could've just found out but that's evidently not her hypothetical here).

AmandaHoldensLips · 15/06/2026 16:41

It's hard to fathom just how much this man hates women.
He meant to kill her.
It was a bus for fuck sake.

I expect him to go with the It wasn't me defence.

I wonder who he pissed off enough to hand the police new information though

My money is on an ex partner or ex wife who has broken their silence after all this time because he's pissed them off big time. There's no way the police were still investigating this, somebody has finally grassed him up and its only a pity they didn't do it earlier.

PermanentTemporary · 15/06/2026 16:47

Can’t help hoping it was a female officer on the phone or the desk who took whatever tipoff it was that led to this arrest. Not that it matters, I just like the thought.

Christ, how did they not catch him at the time? The cctv images are surely good enough for him to be recognised by someone who knew him. Crazy.

Of course. At least his partner has always known. I guess some of his mates as well.

His house is 'only' worth 1.4 mill according to the DM article here - so he's not that wealthy, in London banking terms..

Might have been what it went for last time it changed hands, or when he bought it though. Or if might be a pied a terre he keeps just for when he's in London and he actually has several other residences elsewhere, who knows. If it's him, I really hope they get a conviction, because he's a sociopath.

Well this is it. I would not like to be a spouse or child of the man who did that.

I was thinking this. There may be a very good reason why someone who knew didn't come forward until recently. Whoever this running man is, they've shown nothing but intent to cause death to a complete stranger. I can only imagine how he treats those around him on a daily basis.

Wealthy banker , allegedly royalty connections, army type and no doubt the best lawyer money can buy! He won’t go to prison!

PTSD from being in the Army defence incoming.

PTSD from being in the Army defence incoming.

There is a difference between defence and mitigation.

Apparently.

Dorisbonson · 15/06/2026 16:53

We trust the army to make life and death decisions and understand the consequences of them. This man must be a psychopath, who knows what else he has done/got away with.

I just came here to start a thread if I couldn’t find one! I’m so relieved someone finally turned him in. I remember this vividly. And I’m not at all surprised it was a wealthy banker. I hope he gets prosecuted now and comes face to face with the victims- the person he attacked and the bus driver who managed to swerve and save her life.

I suspect if it had been an asylum seeking immigrant, you wouldn't be able to move for threads.

Still, nice of Stephen Yaxley Lennon to weigh in, as new protector of women.

I'm confused how they found out after so long

Pure speculation but he either split with a long term partner who knew and now wants revenge.

Or he met someone he thought would be impressed with his manliness, but they were a decent human being.

Hoppity80 · 15/06/2026 17:08

I suspect ADHD mitigation/defence and later life diagnosis also incoming. Ie, had to act impulsively.
Absolutely not saying that people with ADHD behave like this!

banmusk · 15/06/2026 17:08

I read a thread about this on a (heavily moderated) male dominated forum. There are posters claiming he'll get off because the victim was unharmed, or that it was an accident.

CurdinHenry · 15/06/2026 11:43

While I'm glad his crime beard finally came clean kind of fuck her for covering up for this long

What a ridiculous comment, we dont know that it was a woman who gave the information, and even if it was, we don't know when she found out. I remember when this video was first shown, so many people on social media claiming that he was defending himself because she tried to kick him, despite the evidance being in front of their eyes. So many people seem to want to blame women, for everything.

Thanks. I'm shocked someone stayed with a partner that they knew attempted to kill someone

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 15/06/2026 17:12

Obviously a relationship gone bad is a possibility but I would have thought workplace allies turned enemies is also a possibility. I am sure there enough competitive and unscrupulous people in banking that someone knowing about it for years and keeping it secret to have power over him, is a possibility.
Or it’s someone who was in his power professionally and now is no longer in that situation.

Contrariwise, I am not. Remember how many woman return to abusers 😧

Have I missed something? How do you know he's been arrested because of his partner?

Just to seem like a genius, I will add a third "None of the above option".

Could be any number of odd trivialities that tripped the charges. Maybe a totally unconnected arrest that provided physical or digital evidence ?

I can guarantee this will not be the only thing the police will find interesting about this man.
