Wealthy banker with connections to royalty is arrested in hunt for notorious 'Putney Pusher' | Daily Mail Online

I vividly remember this case which still haunts me and cannot believe it was ten years ago. Finally someone has been arrested who appears to be an ex army wealthy man.

I hope he is charged - so arrogant.

I know it’s from 10 years ago, but even so, I think the CCTV is actually pretty crap. And it always amazes me how poor it is. I’ve no doubt his partner, nearest and dearest would have known it’s him, but I would guess it’s not clear enough for a jury to be able to conclude it’s him “beyond reasonable doubt” on that alone?

1 pic is poor the other is good. Certainly good enough for friends and family to recognise him, which I have no doubt they did.

ISTR having to go to an Argentine news channel to read details about Freemantle a few months ago.

This is where some of the more rabble rousing Indian and Pakistani news websites get a niche in often copying some articles word for word or sometimes naming suspects unable to be named due to court proceedings

This is still online. Guess these people love doing interviews about themselves.

How long does google maps (or similar) store tracking data?

Depends who is asking.

Its not his fault he’s related to this guy.

And if you really want interesting then read up on his mothers work during WW2.

She wasn’t alive during WW2 unless you mean Prince Philip’s mother.

Sickeningly this was published mere months after the school incident.

People who have experience with current and ex military... Are most actually like this?

From what my late husband told me - no.

He was the Duke of Kent’s tank gunner for a while (before the Duke inherited the title and was still just a Prince). Scots Greys.

I desperately want the police to have found the right bloke but I was surprised he was supposedly only 35 at the time of the offence. It could be the black and whiite camera shots but he looks older to me in them.

If the perpetrator is generally abusive to women then I understand why a partner may not have come forward until now, if that is how he has been identified.

And other family loyalties may have provided a cover.

But if the CCTV was that recognisable and he worked in any large city office building, then surely some of the back room staff who didn’t owe him any loyalties would have come forward?

The interview took place in February 2023. The crash was July 2023. The article was published in March 2024. All very odd.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/06/2026 14:48

I guess it depends on whether “Amanda” and the website knew of CF’s involvement in the crash.

The interview predates the crash. After the crash it is alleged that she and her husband tried to get as much as possible about them off the internet. Yet the interview was eventually published, with both her name and his included, in the following year, by which time the police either had confirmed that she was not facing charges, or were getting close to that point. I find it odd that she didn't contact the magazine and tell them not to publish. If I'd been involved in an awful event like that I would see it as disrespectful to those poor little girls and their families to be featured in a vacuous lifestyle piece about bathroom fittings.

Indeed. I'm guessing it was important to homemaker Claire Freemantle to show and tell people what her and banker husband Dominic had done with their six-bedroom Victorian home, and their journey to achieving a calm bathroom design.

Hoardasurass · 15/06/2026 11:30

I expect him to go with the It wasn't me defence.

I wonder who he pissed off enough to hand the police new information though

That's what I was wondering.

Lalgarh · 16/06/2026 15:20

It could be he was off his face and bragged to a few colleagues in a truth or dare.

He's 44 now so would have been mid 30s then in 2017. He looks much older imo. Heavy set and greying

TopsieGreenwood · 16/06/2026 15:26

I notice people on social media are already claiming the woman kicked him or tried to trip him up 🙄

Very distasteful unless she had signed away her rights to the article or there was some other contractual obligation to publish. If not, an appallingly crass decision to go ahead.

I'd have guessed 40s from that footage too. Though I suppose 35 isn't that far off, it's not amazing quality and heaven knows I'm no expert in these things.

They did at the time too. I was on mumsnet then and some posters really went to town claiming it was obvious she had tried to trip him up. It got really nasty on here as I recall.

I think he looked older in one pic, but that could just be the blur of the CCTV. In this pic he could easily be mid 30s.

It's confusing, but Director is just a seniority level within banking - there are two above it (Exec Director and Managing Director) and there are loads of each of them. So even in the team he's in there's likely at least a couple of ED's and one MD above him. People would typically expect to make ED around 35-40 and MD around 40-45 (not everyone makes MD) so if anything he's a little behind the curve.

It doesnt mean that he is in charge of UHNW at HSBC private bank

Thanks!

Make around 35k-40k and 40-45k? That seems incredibly low for ED and MD at a well-known private bank!

The link to that article is from an archive website. The original article is gone.

Am I wrong in thinking that Freemantle had her first epilectic episode while behind the wheel and that's why she lost control? If so, that is radically different from shoving someone under a bus to avoid having to divert your jogging path six inches to your left.
