Do you wear full makeup on a beach holiday.

We are in the canaries on holiday. I only use mascara and lipstick hoping my tan is enough.
This in my mind gives my skin a rest.
Last night we got talking to a group of people and all the ladies had full makeup on. (They looked lovely)
Am I the only one not to use full makeup.

My lashes are lifted & tinted and brows tinted so I feel that makes me look 'done'. Apart from that I just use a tinted sunscreen and a lip glaze.

O don't wear make up.

Haven’t for absolutely decades years.

O actually lived in the canaries for a long time when I was younger and me and my friends wore clear mascara and would wear lipstick (as it kept the lips
moist!) But pulled only wear it if going out in the evening.

I wear full makeup most times I leave the house, but I definitely wouldn’t for a day on the beach. For a start, I’d need to top up my facial sunscreen and that’s not exactly possible over a full face of makeup. If I was spending a day on a beach, I’d wear a water resistant mascara, fill in my brows and maybe wear a tinted lip balm. Nothing more.

Crikey no!
Possibly some mascara, highlighter, lipstick for a special evening, but that would be a helluva lot of effort for a holiday.
However, you do whatever makes you feel relaxed as it is your holiday.

jay55 · 14/06/2026 17:13

Just melts off my face in the heat, would be total waste of time for me.

WheretheFishesareFrightening · 14/06/2026 17:15

I wear mascara, blusher and maybe eyeliner at home. I will wear the same on my beach holiday evenings.

WhereverIlaymycatthatsmyhome · 14/06/2026 17:15

Nothing in the daytime but mascara, eyeliner, blusher and lipstick in the evenings (half makeup?) I definitely don’t bother with foundation on holiday.

MissyPants · 14/06/2026 17:16

I don't wear make up daily either, only for special occasions. Even then it's just BB cream, blusher, mascara and lipstick.
So I too would not be wearing a full face of make up there. I think just mascara and lipstick would look lovely on tanned skin in the evening and that is what I would opt for as-well. No way would i ever or have ever worn makeup on the beach, sod that!

I don’t use makeup at all so if I was in the Canaries, I wouldn’t be in full makeup either.

I wear the same as at home, a little bit of No 7 foundation to hide some redness on two areas of my face, a tiny bit of brown eyeliner and a fair amount of blusher, plus I tint my brows.

Tappings · 14/06/2026 17:51

On the beach/ by the pool is use no make up but when going out in the evening I do my normal make up. But I don't tan at all.

Thebinisrightthere · 14/06/2026 17:57

I've actually stopped wearing makeup. On a rare night out I'll wear mascara, eyeshadow & blusher. But never on holiday. I do always wear concealer as I don't want to frighten people and some glow drops to give me a bit of colour

Prombles · 14/06/2026 18:01

Tinted moisturiser with SPF, lipstick, brows. Might bung on mascara at night.

ghostyslovesheets · 14/06/2026 18:05

I’m not really a make up person but in the evening, if eating out, I’d do tinted moisturiser and lip gloss.

Biore UV glowy moisturiser with SPF 50 is nice for a bit of ‘face’ if needed in the day

Spiffingdarling88 · 14/06/2026 18:07

I do otherwise I look like im ill.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 14/06/2026 18:10

I do at night but last holiday my face looked quite pale against the rest of my never tanned body so I probably won’t next time 🤣

ElegantDresses · 14/06/2026 18:14

No, I leave it at home apart from brow pencil and mascara and those are only for evenings. It's nice to have a break from routine.

perlana · 14/06/2026 18:19

I need to cover up broken veins on my cheeks, so I put on SPF and then a quick light brush over of good powder foundation. That's it. And a hat and sunnies. I am sure no one will notice or care about my red thread veined cheeks, but I feel better for a 2 second brush over! And it doesn't slide off either....

tiramisugelato · 14/06/2026 18:35

I never wear make-up, on holiday or not.

Hotdoughnut · 14/06/2026 19:44

Why does this bother you? Perhaps they have dodgey skin? I look like an actual different person without makeup on. To be fair I only use BB cream, but even at 40 my skin is still a hormonal mess so nobody sees me without my skin tint. It makes me feel more human. Why should anyone feel bad about that, for presenting their best self.

SaraHoliday · 14/06/2026 19:51

I don't wear full make up - though I do take make-up on holiday.

Just something light and glowy for nights out really.

Less is more sometimes! BUT you do you - whatever makes you happy.

Have an amazing holiday! I will be there soon! 🌅

Ohhhthedrama · 14/06/2026 20:00

@Hotdoughnut- I don't think anything in the post indicates she's bothered by it or that anyone should feel bad. She's simply asking what others do on holiday.

canuckup · 14/06/2026 20:04

I would find it difficult to not put at least mascara and a bit of foundation on

SliceofTosst · 14/06/2026 20:16

I get my eyelashes dyed before a beach holiday.

Nothing during the day.

Evening maybe some eyeliner, brow filler and lipstick. Love lipstick.

Slothlydoesit · 14/06/2026 20:20

I have a lash lift & tint beforehand too, then in the daytime wear a posh sunscreen/face primer type thing, tiny bit of mascara & some lip balm or lipstick. At night I wear makeup for going out to dinner etc if at a hotel.
