@MewithME I know 🙄

@martha79 😁😁😁

TeaAndStrumpets · 15/07/2026 08:35

Morning! Positive slugabed here, awake and up at 5.30!

So wonderfully cool this morning, and my ankles have shrunk back to their normal size. I'd almost forgotten what they usually look like 😄

Someone at the sender's end has made a tremendous fuss about my missing delivery and DPD have suddenly "found" it. It's been sitting in their local depot for a week, but is now being delivered today apparently. Fingers crossed!

These computerised courier services are fine if no human gets involved! I bought DGS's new boots online last week. They were delivered to the Argos desk inside Sainsburys. DH went along to collect with ID and the QR code from my phone. . The lady couldn't find them at first, but there they were, sitting in the wrong place. This was last Saturday. I keep being bombarded with texts and emails reminding me to pick up my parcel!

I did nearly post on here - goodness knows what sort of incoherent nonsense you'd have got!

That's my usual style @martha79 ...I wouldn't worry 😂

@TeaAndStrumpets how is your DGS doing generally? I think I saw you say he didn't want a medical bracelet. There's a thing you can add to your phone so in the event of medical emergency, services can see your info on your lock screen. There's probably other clever things too.

Hell..I once attended a conference with a cyborg woman who had implants to open doors and pay for stuff...I move in weird circles 😜

Morning

Looking forward to The Football

MewithME · 15/07/2026 09:31

@ValleyClouds I forgot! Yes, I'll watch it later. I was a fairly avid footie fan in my twenties. I have lapsed in middle age but I like the big events.

Yeah @MewithMEI don’t think we will win but I’m looking forward to the ride

Thanks for asking. He's a lot better and getting used to the strict routine of testing, injections etc. He is so looking forward to college, a fresh start and a chance to make friends. At school he never liked anyone to know about his autism so will just want to blend in. I think this is his attitude re a bracelet, too. He does have a card in his wallet and ICE on his phone. He wears a continuous glucose monitor which sends an alarm to his phone if he's about to have a hypo, which is averted by a small can of original coke or some sugary sweets. At some point he can have an insulin pump fitted but to start with he needs to learn the usual techniques in case the pump ever goes wrong.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 15/07/2026 09:48

@TeaAndStrumpets glad dgs is getting to grips with it.

JewelleryCat · 15/07/2026 10:08

@Oioiqueen I think it was you who liked to know what van I get from Ocado. Today is the Cherry van as usual

I'm disappointed in your variety I'll admit

Oh so am I. I want different vans again like I used to when I first joined

TeaAndStrumpets · 15/07/2026 13:49

Finally had my delivery. Thank goodness. I hate waiting in for things.

TeaAndStrumpets · 15/07/2026 15:11

DGs had a good time at his college taster day. He isn't vain at all but he did remark to his Mum that he was the most handsome person there 😄

I reckon it was the new boots.

Haha...I love that with my DS. He's just really factual with his autism. If I tell him he's a good looking kid, he sometimes just says....I know. 😂😂

I have to gently explain about boasting as a concept. But I'm glad he doesn't have self esteem issues at least!

How's the pre-match build up going @ValleyClouds ? DS is with his Dad for the next hour so I'm having a non alcoholic beer and got a takeaway coming as a treat because I'm really tired.

I haven't slacked off with work at all yet. It'll be full on until I finish in Friday for a big chunk of annual leave.

Not the cherry van again!

Alright day here, some meetings... then messaged one of my favourite colleagues for a 'quick chat' on Teams and ended up talking for an hour and a half 🤣

Just spent half an hour clearing out the attic room, it's very warm and dusty (and cat-fluffy) up there. Sitting down for the evening now.

ValleyClouds · 15/07/2026 18:35

@MewithME I’ve got the crisps in and I’m watching people speculate on the score on the BBC !!! You??

I medically can’t drink at the moment sadly!

Well who needs false modesty!! He would only say it to his mum of course...as you say, just completely truthful 😊

Edited

I had a non alcoholic beer and then had one drink drink at half time. It was needed. DS doesn't know much about football but enjoyed it with me when he got home which was lovely. He got all excited when we scored. I jinxed it. I said..it's England... it'll not be painless. It's never this easy 🙈

Woo, it's another early morning wake up!

Brain is rattling with some work stuff and house stuff. Off after today for a fortnight so worrying about making sure I've finished things off and/or handed them over. And I think I need to put tasks into actual days for moving - some are already fixed like when I've got people visiting to help but there's still lots that's just on a big list.

You sound very organized! But it's bound to play on your mind and keep you on high alert. Hope it goes smoothly with the actual moving. Once people know your freezer is full of ice lollies there will be loads of volunteers!

I have had tentative moving plans for over a year, with several collapsed sales, so it hasn't seemed real. Now it is real it's time for action not words, and panic mode is setting in! There's so much to do, so many things to change. We'll be ditching British Gas for a start. We must have paid a fortune over the years for servicing and call out insurance. There's just this fear the heating will break down on Christmas Day that kept us paying. No gas at the new house. BT only covers the area for basic slow broadband, so we'll be moving to another provider. Not sure if we can move our phone number though. And so on. I lie awake at night worrying about who we might forget!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 16/07/2026 08:23

Morning.
@martha79 oh dear, that made 2 of us again. I was trying to stay off my phone but it made no difference.
You do sound organised.
So for you & @TeaAndStrumpets
I once read a tip that if you keep waking up thinking I must remember xyz, then keep a pen & notebook next to the bed. Write down what you think of & then switch off because you've noted it for the morning.
