It's all so serious now. Way of the world I expect.

I do think we’ve become so pious as a society. We don’t laugh as much. Just think about the comedy films and TV shows out in the 90s compared to now. We are much less ready to laugh.

I have hope though. If we look through history we have always swung between solemn and excess. We’re just in a bit of an Oliver Cromwell era atm. We are in a pit financially and we seem to value penance and moral high over anything else. But it’ll change. It always does.

People don’t like a laugh anymore or want to interact as much.

It's a shame. I miss the old days of MN.

It's so serious now- life, MN, everything. The pile ons start one post in, and get very personal. And that's before the trolls inevitably pop out from whatever rock they lurk under.

It's very hard to keep a light hearted thread on MN from derailing.

I feel that if anyone started a bar thread on MN these days they would be called an alcoholic and a shit lazy parent and it's all the fault of the 'boat people' or trans or something.

Glass of wine in hand..dog is asleep though, she had a good walk earlier. I can talk shit any time of the day. 😂

it used to be a barrel of laughs, wit, and dry humour, but then over time all of those users got banned and then too many men and trolls turned up, sucking up all the fun for newcomers. Now it’s all anger and insults…. and users looking for insults.
