If you have grown-up children, how do you spend your evenings/weekends?

Just that really? I’m 53, with a younger partner, but we never go out in the evenings. If you are of a similar age with older children, how do you spend your evenings?

After work, I go to a night class once a week and go swimming - otherwise we cook dinner, walk the dog and do house stuff. I'm up at 6am and work is full on, often with a long commute, so I'm tired by the end of the day. Nothing very exciting. I don't know anyone who's out loads in the evening after working full time either. We do more at the weekends though - I meet friends, go walking with the dog, gardening, do my hobby, that sort of thing.

This last week :
Dinner out with DS
Curry night with friends
Yoga class
Quiz night @ church tonight
Seeing DPs tommorow

I would say I am out about 3 nights a week on average
1x purely social
1x Either a churchy thing or amateur dramatics
1X Yoga

I also run 3 times a week but tbat is in tbe morning

I do think the nature of your work makes a difference, I’m 4 days and DH is FT but we both work locally and have short car commutes (half an hour each, traffic fairly easy) so I am usually home by 5.30 (up at 6.45 leave the house at 8) and him by 6.30. It would be different if our jobs were very high-pressured or we had long commutes.

We go for dinner or to a concert or to the pub

Yoga, gym, netball, Pilates, walk with friends, go for a run, Pilates, TV. I love it. When the kids were younger I was either stuck in doors as they were in bed , or running them around to various activities.

I'm glad that my mother has recently started branching out. She goes swimming, paddle-boarding, to the pictures, to music performances, and to various art-related classes like glass-fusing and woodwork.

I don’t go out much in the evening compared to many. Probably once a week I will meet up with friends to go to dinner/drinks/book club/theatre.

I go out at weekends mostly in the daytime. Also I go on a lot of holidays and weekends away.

I thought it was just me! If ever I sign up for a regular commitment, my heart sinks for some reason and it’s, “Oh, lord, I’ve got to go to Pilates on Tuesday.”

Me too!

need some sort of hobby which suits an unsporty, uncreative and unpopular person!

😃

Again... me too!
