Would he fall for it? Yep, probably; he's not the brightest.

(We're joking, but I'd be willing to bet there are some disaffected Republican voters out there who wouldn't think twice. He's made a lot of sworn enemies in a very short time.)

In my time, I have noticed that intelligence is not always related to animal cunning. (And that animal cunning does not equate to intelligence).

Furthermore, people who are crooks tend to have a highly developed sense for dishonesty. After all, it's all they think about.

This is why one of lifes joys is watching a pair of grifters circle each other in the tank.

UK media is on a frenzy about Starmer here. First that he would announce a plan to leave. Today, that he will resign on Monday.
For his own good, and if he has a single brain cell himself, Starmer will resign tomorrow. He does not have the support of his own party.
His sin: getting tangled with Mandelson ( Epstein's friend and someone who will soon have to face court for disclosing sensitive information about UK assets to Epstein) and pushing contracts with Palantir for our Security and Health services (Palantir is financially related to Mandelson), in breach of the Parliamentary Ministerial code ( unrecorded, unofficial meetings).
There is thread after thread saying that the media hates Starmer. And many people do not like Starmer, as he is quite unpersonable. But I only see the above reasons for a full on sudden rebute, even by his own party.

Trump exchanges with Meloni are quite the thing to read.....
And the agreement, well the Iranians did make it to Switzerland. Bibi will try to interfere; we all knew that. But I think it is clear that Trump wants it sorted. I am a bit sorry for Rubio. He has a lot of work to do!

Edited

I actually think Labour is making a fundamental mistake.

They stepped into a complete shitshow when they won and should have been aware of it and proactive. Yes, they made mistakes quickly, with poorly thought out policies and u-turns, but they should be standing united behind Starmer. Lammy should be out, Burnham should swallow his ego and go in as deputy and then they should buckle down, tell some honest fucking truths - immigration is a necessity (anyone been in hospital recently?), the revitalisation of Manchester is due to financial services not re-shoring of industry, coal isn't coming back, we need to find a way to get ourselves back into Europe for both financial and political reasons. Stop this infighting, stop kowtowing to the right wing media, stop courting Reform voters, unite and govern. I'm broadly sympathetic to left of centre left politics, but I've seen nothing in Burnham to indicate he has what it takes.

I was not expecting that. Somebody please, take the phone and microphone from him.....

Iran returned to Los Angeles less than 24 hours before kick-off here after being denied permission to arrive sooner, another example, they say, of the treatment that makes them feel the most oppressed team at the tournament.

Iran held Belgium to a 0-0 draw.

Yeah, I read that...
Somebody please organise a tour of the ballroom, with lunch, plans, presentation, dinner. Then to the reflecting pool... and a camomile tea, so he gets to sleep after that.
So to keep Trump away from interviews!!! And TS.

The sticky point of Lebanon is already sticking. The Iranians will not be threatened and Netanyahu will not be told what to do. The solution is crystal clear. Iran will have to break with Hezbollah, for good, and Netanyahu will have to leave Lebanon alone, for good.
Rubio will have to wear cowboy boots to sort this one.

I see Trump claims to have “inspected” the Reflecting Pool (aka he flew over it in Marine One on his way back from Camp David), and has now ordered repairs to start immediately. That’ll be another $10 million for his buddy the pool guy then.

Imagine the blue air phone call between Vance and Trump after his comments almost derailed the talks.

The fact that Iran was willing to resume talks is indicative of their good faith in attending. But Obama's nuclear deal took two years of negotiations, items mentioned in the MOU could change, and is a meaningful peace deal even possible while Bibi's in power?

The Guardian shows a bitter-sweet state on the negotiations, but clearly pressing ahead.
If Nwtanyahu's position as PM is at stakes here has crossed my mind. I suppose his too. If he keeps obstructing Trump, he will face a new sort of problems.
Trump, at present, holds access to money on Iran's side, so US can press there for full detanglement from Hezbolah. And help Lebanon to desarm Hezbollah, if any stock is left. Lebanon has expressed that they are short on people and resources. Some of the money can go towards that.
Trump also holds arms supply and regional defence support to Netanyahu. Plus possible sanctions. International support. Quite a few levers to pull. US does not need Netanyahu. They can, and some of them likely prefer, deal with a more moderate PM in Israel. Trump, according to the news, has already spelled this to Bibi via phone call. So, it will escalate from there.... The lack of any minimal concerns or considerations for the future of Israel in the international stage that Netanyahu shows is quite astonishing.

In the TRUTH of Sunday, June 202612:36 AM that I clipped above, check this line:

"It hasn't looked or worked like this since 1922, when it was originally built, but even then, it leaked badly, and didn't work."

WTF logic is that? So this guy, who is POTUS, wrote that line and did not spot the contradiction. Or is he saying it has never worked ? Was it working in 1922 or not ?

Then this, because no he has to exaggerate his previous bit. Almost every time. Say something then instantly exaggerate.

"Ours worked perfectly, including the mirror like finish, perfectly reflecting the two Great Monuments, which it never had before! "

Does he think there are no photos of things being reflected in the reflecting pool ?. Or is it that HE has not seen any of the 100s of thousands of photos. Or maybe he can't use Google ?

"What these terrible Vandals have done is a true affront to both Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, and should be dealt with accordingly."

The pool was finished in 1923. Them dudes never saw it.

"What they have damaged does not even include the earlier killing of a large amount of grass which was, by far, the least of it. "

He is obsessed with grass. And is he saying the same people also killed the grass at an earlier time. And again, does he think nobody can use google to see the bare patches in the grass decade ago ?

I could go on. But sigh.

@RedTagAlan Trump was sent by him/her on high, to test our patience, hear sweary words from the supposed leader of the free world, and appreciate the benefit of being able to read and understand more than 100 words at a time.

Magats on the other hand would say that Trump was sent to expose fake news, keep America white and remake everything in his gold image ... for their benefit.

For the benefit of rich men who paint pools for a living... or invest/ gamble in the big markets.

Because the ordinary citizen must be paying more for fuel, at present.
Have to carry their ID with them at all times, just in ICE case.
Not sure how busy hotels are in US, but with all this eVisa refusals... I do not like football, so I would not go anyway. But I will not be travelling to US at present, no matter for what.
And so on and on.....
We are definitively feeling it in UK. And we do not like Trump!

I was aware of previous reports of disagreement in Iran and this article is interesting in giving the hardline points that Iran's new SL is supposedly taking.

Has anyone seen proof that Khamenei is even alive?
Maximalist demands to get what you really want in the negotiations.

Yes I was aware of the tensions too but actually going on TV to express dissent seems like another level - almost Trumpian! but at much higher personal risk in Iran

Also fascinated by the new ayatollah's absence from view - horribly disfigured by his injuries? too emotionally damaged? mossad will kill him if they catch sight of him? - you would think with all the technology available they would be able to do something

I was reading about the pool today. About how it was built on a marsh and sunk. Concreted in the Reagan years, and near totally rebuilt under Obama. And I spotted something I have not seen mentioned.

It has always leaked. So it had to be topped up. Obama fixed that, and with no water being topped up (apart from evaporation), the algae bloomed. Of course. But the Obama rebuild did include a water recirculating system, so they knew it would be an issue.

The Obama rebuild did reduce its empty and scrub from twice a year to once a year.

However, it still has no filter system to remove the algae. A big UV system would do. That is what it needs. And the rule of thumb for aquariums ( I keep fish), is that the filtration cycles 4 x the volume of water per hour. And that is a big pool, with a lot of organics going in (goose poo).

Trump done totally the wrong thing. It either needs a massive filter, or a massive leak that means the water is always being replaced. Paint will do nowt,
