A DJT endorsement is enough to make even me, want to keep the current policy on drilling in the North Sea.😬

I thought that too. Although TBH I have not really thought much about the North Sea. But now I am thinking... stay Starmer stay :-)

UK media is on a frenzy about Starmer here. First that he would announce a plan to leave. Today, that he will resign on Monday.
For his own good, and if he has a single brain cell himself, Starmer will resign tomorrow. He does not have the support of his own party.
His sin: getting tangled with Mandelson ( Epstein's friend and someone who will soon have to face court for disclosing sensitive information about UK assets to Epstein) and pushing contracts with Palantir for our Security and Health services (Palantir is financially related to Mandelson), in breach of the Parliamentary Ministerial code ( unrecorded, unofficial meetings).
There is thread after thread saying that the media hates Starmer. And many people do not like Starmer, as he is quite unpersonable. But I only see the above reasons for a full on sudden rebute, even by his own party.

Trump exchanges with Meloni are quite the thing to read.....
And the agreement, well the Iranians did make it to Switzerland. Bibi will try to interfere; we all knew that. But I think it is clear that Trump wants it sorted. I am a bit sorry for Rubio. He has a lot of work to do!

Edited

Assuming we end up with Burnham as PM ... he comes with zero baggage in parliament for the past 2 years. The most that can be said is that as a Labour Party Member, he supported the 2024 manifesto.

RedTagAlan · 21/06/2026 16:00

New game.

“You close it and you won’t have a country, You won’t even make it back to your fking country.”

Who said that, and what current event was he talking about ?

Well, that was a pre Trump discussion I recall. I am with you on civilians not saluting. But Trump likes it.

Att

The POTUS holds no military rank. The role of C-i-C is a civilian role. Technically civilians or military out of uniform aren't supposed to salute.

Reagan started returning the salute of military personnel in 1981. He felt it was disrespectful to the military personnel who served him to ignore the salutes he was given as POTUS. Prior to that no POTUS saluted, but all have done so since. So I guess it's considered a gesture of respect rather than 'returning a salute' in the military meaning. So Scrotus is just doing what other POTUSes (POTII?) have done.

Although I'm sure he sees it as them acknowledging his 'superiority' rather than him showing them respect. Because he's not capable of truly respecting anyone. That would mean he considered them his equal, or God forbid, superior to him.

MushMonster · 21/06/2026 16:14

I am happy with Labour in power in UK. I can see the start of the good things they are working on. I do not know much about Burnham, but if they chose him, I will be happy with it.
I cannot understand the reason for Starmer's stupid moves here. But here we are. Having to chuck out yet another PM.
It does not look good. Trump will say a lot about it.
But we need someone who has the will and knowledge to assemble a UK company to deal with things like Security and NHS software. And Starmer had not the will. On the knowledge side, UK can assemble enough to have our own IT team, that is for sure. And we have been told enough times that we are to fend for ourselves.
Our next PM will get lots of Meloni comments from Trump, I bet. How we beg to be his friend and how little and pathetic our army is and how we turn up when the war is won or not turn up. Blah blah blah.
I think we should get building a large pool and keep it blue. Just to post the picture back as response to his truth social thingy.

Except that Reagan had his bone spurs treated, and so joined the military and became a captain.

And I am quite happy with a convention that allows honourably discharged personnel to retain their honorifics (if they want*), and the convention of saluting. In every possible insult possible to Trump, they have earned it.

Erm.

"Sunday, June 21, 202612:36 AM Truth Social

Many additional people have been arrested having to do with the disgraceful Vandalism of our beautiful Reflecting Pool. It hasn't looked or worked like this since 1922, when it was originally built, but even then, it leaked badly, and didn't work. Ours worked perfectly, including the mirror like finish, perfectly reflecting the two Great Monuments, which it never had before! What these terrible Vandals have done is a true affront to both Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, and should be dealt with accordingly. We met with contractors today, will probably be forced to release and drain much of the water in order to do the necessary repairs, but will have them done as quickly as possible. What they have damaged does not even include the earlier killing of a large amount of grass which was, by far, the least of it. They took some form of knife or blade, and put a 250 foot long gash into the beautiful facade of what took so much work, competence, and money to build and complete. They also poured corrosive and destructive chemicals into the Pool. The Reflecting Pool was never so beautiful as it was just one week ago, even going back to 1922 when it opened. We are very proud of what we have done with this magnificent structure, and we will get it repaired, quickly, to an equal level of Beauty. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

Vandals. Vandals. A 250 foot gash.

Old sparky is being dusted down as I post.

Trump interfering in foreign politics again.
Trump can fuck off.

The media stirring the pot and causing destabilisation of the governing party can fuck right off.

Any labour MPs who don't have the balls to stand behind the leader they stood on a manifesto with can also get to fuck. If they don't have the loyalty and courage to stand by their own beliefs, then fuck if I'm voting for them next time.

This is playing into the hands of the right wing nut jobs.

He did just threaten to kill the Iranian peace delegation.

Art of the deal.

RedTagAlan · 21/06/2026 17:14

Ohh. It's going well then. CNN now:

"The Iranian delegation currently attending talks in Switzerland has lodged a protest after US President Donald Trump threatened its negotiators a short while ago, Iranian state media has reported.

“Iranian delegation has lodged a protest with the US side and is now weighing options for an appropriate response to Donald Trump’s recent verbal threats,” Press TV, a state-run media channel in Iran, posted to X.

Some context: In a phone call with Fox News today, Trump said that the US might “take over” the Strait of Hormuz if it can’t reach a deal with Iran and threatened the Iranian delegation that has gathered in Switzerland.
“You close it (the Strait of Hormuz) and you won’t have a country,” Trump said he told Iranian officials. “You won’t even make it back to your f**king country.”
CNN has reached out to the White House for more details on what taking over the strait would entail."

Going just about as well as you'd expect from trying to negotiate with a demented malignant narcissist who's been surrounded solely by yes men (yes people?) for the past few years.

Time for me to step away from the news and social media. We weren't evolved to be bombarded with this shit day in day out. It's too much. The human race is finished....it peaked some time ago and now is in a spiral to destruction.

How interesting that he's back again on the US collecting tolls. He's obviously still cheesed off that Iran didn't agree to imposing tolls and sharing the money with him.

I think this far in any revival in Labours fortunes would involve plans that do not involve (or require) Kier Starmer. Regardless (for now) how that came about.

The first round of Iran-US talks have ended and Vance said it went well. Was that before or after Trump's latest sweary comments?

You put Hormuz Strait in
You put Hormuz Strait out
In out in out shake it all about
You do the hokey cokey and you turn around
And that's what it's all about.
