And now Guyliner has pulled out of the opportunity to stock up on cheese and Toblerone... US-Iran talks postponed as Vance pulls out of Switzerland trip - BBC News. Quelle surprise.

In Jan, Brent crude was $66.6 pb. Today it's $79 and analysts say it's unlikely to return to pre war price.

Pump prices will reflect any supplies bought at the war rates for delivery now.

This article explains more on oil prices.

British loyalists can add that to the Liz Truss tax they are paying.

Looks like Trump was played by his Fed pick. What a shame. and now he's stuck with him. What a shame.

US President Donald Trump pushed Warsh's predecessor, Jerome Powell, to cut interest rates, and made clear he expected Warsh to fulfil his demand for cuts.

Kevin Warsh stands at a podium giving a press conference, wearing a navy suit, navy tie and white shirt, flanked by flags with the crest of the Federal Reserve.

Fed holds US interest rates steady as uncertainty over Trump's Iran deal remains

The Federal Reserve held rates between 3.5% and 3.75% after Kevin Warsh's first meeting in charge of the central bank.

@SerendipityJane it's almost as if he thinks everyone is a craven arse-licker, and then some people turn out not to be, isn't it? I mean who'da thunk there might actually be people around with an ounce of integrity? 😂 Obviously not Trump because he has no understanding of the concept.

I think it's more a question of some gifts can't be taken back.

SCOTUS are a good example (quite similar to the UK House of Lords). Once you are in, it's for life. Obviously there will always be scope for financial shadiness. But for power and prestige ... well there's nothing more you can be bribed with.

He's back from the G7 meeting and late night shit posting defending the surrender MOU.

Trump began the fightback against resounding criticism, including from Republicans, that the US had given away far too much and abandoned key war aims. “These fools, who think I haven’t been tough enough on Iran, when the Stock Market Just Hit A RECORD HIGH, and Oil prices are “tumbling” down, are either jealous, bad people, or stupid,” Trump posted on Truth Social at 4.32am.
.....
And then
There is no 300 Billion Dollar payment to Iran by the US That’s Fake News! All there is for the US is Success, Lower Oil Prices, and Victory. Check out the Stock Market. Dumocrat propaganda at play!!!”

That photo...😂 Macron has clearly had more than enough time with the dotard.

You remember that back in March, Trump said there would be no end to the Iran war without UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER? (all caps)

He was actually telling the truth for once. He just didn't mention he was going to be the one doing the surrendering.

SerendipityJane · 19/06/2026 15:23

This case keeps on running. Seems the DoJ is desperately flailing and has agreed in an unprecedented development to pay the costs of the defence attorneys.

There will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER! After that, and the selection of a GREAT & ACCEPTABLE Leader(s), we, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before. IRAN WILL HAVE A GREAT FUTURE. "MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN (MIGA!)." Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

The sharks are sensing blood in the water. Trump's hubris has him still thinking that he can shoot someone in the street in front of witnesses and get away with it.

The sharks are sensing blood in the water. Trump's hubris has him still thinking that he can shoot someone in the street in front of witnesses and get away with it.

At this stage, it doesn't really matter what Trump thinks. What matters is what the people around him think. Do they think he could still shoot someone on the street in daylight and get away with it ?

Also, while Trump has immunity, his underlings haven't. I can only speak for myself, but I wouldn't be planning a future that relies on a pardon from Trump anytime soon.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/06/2026 16:52

Good point. He may not be able to do anything much, fairly shortly, whether because he has popped his clogs or because he has been 25thed at last.

The one certainty is that Trump would shoot himself in the foot.

logicisall · 19/06/2026 17:00

@SerendipityJane It's fair to say that the people around Trump are likely to be formulating their exit strategies. No more mentions of a third term for him!
Exceptions would be 'warrior' Kegsbreath and the interns who are still revelling in producing sm posts. Little Marco meanwhile, is watching his Cuban dream go up in smoke.

DuncinToffee · 19/06/2026 17:17

Oh what a surprise

A major flu outbreak has sickened nearly 160 troops at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas less than two months after Pete Hegseth announced that U.S. troops would no longer be required to be vaccinated for the flu

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/06/2026 17:20

Very unfortunate for those troops, but why is there a flu outbreak in summer? It's usually a winter thing. And two months isn't much time; most of them ought still to be covered by the last jabs they had.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/06/2026 17:31

So now there is an outbreak they are to be vaccinated whether they want to be or not, no matter what Kegsbreath may have said about their rights and whathaveyou..

Sigh.

All it takes is for someone to have been to Australia, where it's the runup to winter and the flu is already brewing - in lovely new variants.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/06/2026 17:41

'Spose so. But these are presumably fit and healthy young people so it's slightly surprising so many of them have come down with it at a time of reasonably fine weather.

placemats · 19/06/2026 17:43

"The outbreak comes just weeks after the defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, ended mandatory flu vaccination for the military, citing the need for bodily autonomy for servicemembers.

“We’re seizing this moment to discard any absurd overreaching mandates that only weaken our war fighting capabilities,” said Hegseth in an April social media video. “In this case that includes the universal flu vaccine and the mandate behind it.

“Your body, your faith and your convictions are not negotiable,” said Hegseth."

Edit - quote from the Guardian article linked by @DuncinToffee

Hegseth is opposed to bodily autonomy when it comes to abortion and reproduction rights.

"Spanish" flu killed more people than WW1.

The bigger question there is why is there a flu outbreak in summer as @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime says. It’s a pretty exclusively summer disease outside of the tropics. Even with travelling back and forth between hemispheres. You just don’t get outbreaks in the summer.

Given the huge prevalence of H5N1 in just about everything in the US and the Trump administration breaking the CDC and monitoring this is a bit concerning.

I’m not sure citing a novel pandemic flu is entirely reassuring.
