I had looked at the totality of sanctions against the UK (tariffs) and compared it to the various international sanctions (banking, weapons, export, investment etc) by the UN Security Council and several countries and it didn't tally with your comment. I therefore wondered whether there was something else that I had not been aware of.

I am fascinated by this.

One the one hand - wild anti semitism. Things being said, memes being sent, "jokes" going around that never would have seen the light of day even a few years ago. I am shocked almost every day. It seems very regressive and aggressive.

On the other hand, a very pro Jewish White House - Jared and Ivanka and grandkids, Bibi in the situation room, almost all top aides advisers and so on.

There is big disconnect. I don't know what that means or where that goes.

But I am uncomfortable and think it is worrisome.

I think it's the lack of distinction between jews and judaism and Israel's behaviour and foreign policy, on the right and on the left, and the fact that about half the world seems to be determined conspiracy theorists - again, a place where the far right and the far left tend to overlap. They're not against Israel because of genocide (with the exception maybe of gen z voters). They're against Israel because of 'globalism' and jewish space lasers.

I don't actually see the White House as being pro Jewish. I see them as liking Bibi's foreign policy - his desire to eradicate Palestine aligns with their desire to eradicate various underclasses and minorities, and Trump can relate to his urgent need to do anything to stay out of prison, and they like the opportunities to enrich themselves off the back of the smoking ruins. I don't think any inherent moral conflicts or contradictions bother any of them in the least.
