Graduation meal in Liverpool

Looking for some recommendations for somewhere to go for a bit of nice food after our daughter’s graduation next month. Shes a bit of a fussy Annie so don’t want anything cordon bleu or Michelin star esque, she likes Italian food (well, pizza and pasta 😂) steak, burgers etc not seafood.

I’ve asked her but typically as a student she has survived on Botan/Maccies after a night out and the odd Nando’s when she’s been feeling flush so she’s not really got much insight into where might be decent. I’m conscious that during grad week we’ll need to book so keen to get somewhere sorted so I can forget about it as we’re pretty busy in the run up. So hit me with any suggestions please!

The Cowshed or Italian Club sound like places she’d like. Albert Schloss is pretty reliable too.

We went here after my DD’s graduation - it was lovely www.papillonhopestreet.com/

@JasonTindallsTan Well you are in luck, there’s no Michelin starred restaurant in Liverpool. Some decent restaurants exist there but you have to like food to enjoy yourself at them.

Did you just wake up and decide to be a twat today or is it a usual state of affairs for you?

When was the last time you visited Liverpool, 1985?

OP there’s loads of good restaurants in Liverpool One, there’s chains like Pizza Express (my fav) and Zizzi’s, and several more.

Lark Lane is nice, lots of nice independent restaurants, Moranto’s is one of my favourites, been there around 40 years now.

Also Allerton Road has some nice independent restaurants too.

Oh after googling those I think we’ve been to the Italian Club before when visiting her and it was delicious. The garlic bread lives long in my memory.

@JasonTindallsTan Well you wrote Michelin! Did you check it out? If you want pasta and Nandos, of course you aren’t interested in good restaurant food. Or you could open your taste buds to something better. What a shame to
miss out so much.

bluerrainshower · 06/06/2026 19:11

Gusto on the Albert dock is nice

tripleginandtonic · 06/06/2026 19:13

The Italian at the top of Lark lane is lovely if she's near there

OhFeyreDarling · 06/06/2026 19:15

If she likes Indian then Mowglis is amazing.

Have a look on Bold St, there is pretty much every cuisine you can think of up there

champagneplanet · 06/06/2026 19:15

The Botanist is great too, one on the Albert Dock and one in Liverpool One too.

MabelsBeats · 06/06/2026 19:16

Would she like The Ivy?

IlovePostitnotes · 06/06/2026 19:24

Maray (Bold St or Docks) is lovely. Recommend the Disco Cauliflower.

Humptyandhambel · 06/06/2026 19:25

We love The Italian Club. Also highly recommend The London Carriage Works for something fancier.

What are you wittering on about? Why on earth would I want to take my daughter somewhere to celebrate her achievement somewhere that she might not enjoy? Go and look down your nose elsewhere, I won’t be apologising for not wanting a seven course tasting menu with garnishes of whale sperm and lichen 🙄

Can’t believe no one has mentioned The Casa Italia. Love the pizza and the lasagna is delicious. No reservations. Would second The Italian Club.

Aberdyfi · 06/06/2026 19:50

I think either Papillon or The Pen Factory on Hope St would be best. Maray on Bold St would be another option.

deeplybaffled · 06/06/2026 19:53

Casa Romana on wood street is good. Second Casa Italia.

Not forgiven Il Forno for closing down!

madroid · 06/06/2026 20:14

This is my go to. Can sit outside if the weather's good. It's near the graduation venues. Service is good. Food delish!

We always have fun at Bem Brasil. Various types of meat brought around on skewers and carved onto your plate. (Lots of football memorabilia on the walls as well)

I second the Quarter for Italian. They also have a delicious assortment of desserts.

PShelp · 06/06/2026 21:25

Definitely the quarter! So convenient for the graduation too. Have a drink at the Belvedere beforehand

Yellowpapersun · 06/06/2026 21:37

Another vote for The Quarter in Faulkner St., just off Hope St., Anglican cathedral end. Always lovely food and a nice lively atmosphere. You definitely need to book ASAP as it's so popular. The Spanish chicken is amazing.
