Is anyone getting any benefit at all from the Asda rewards app?

Signed up a couple of years ago and for a while it was quite good. Seemed to build up points quite quickly, there was always extra points on offer, like spend £5 on laundry and get 50p or whatever. That's all gone, my current offers are only for non-grocery products like garden furniture and barbecues, and I have had 86p in my cashpot since December.

Asda seems to have really lost its way, it's the biggest supermarket round these parts and was significantly cheaper than Tesco/Sainsburys for a long time. But that's not the case any more, they just seem to be struggling and although I am well prepared to be told i'm unreasonable and people are regularly getting £5 off their shop, it just doesn't seem like that.

Disclaimer: I know the supermarkets owe us nothing, and that everything's a bonus etc etc. But I'd rather just go to Aldi which makes no pretence about rewarding loyalty.

Yeah I'm totally with you.
I hardly shop there now tbh as there's a big Tesco close by. I feel like for a while my asda had hardly any fresh produce, and the free from area was terrible. Tesco, while slightly pricier, at least has everything I need, and I build up my points for treats.

EmpressaurusKitty · 06/06/2026 16:26

The Asda rewards app is utterly crap nowadays.

Baskingintheheat · 06/06/2026 16:29

I only use it when I get a £10 off £50 offer on it. Otherwise I ignore it. It's not useful for anything else.

Snap. Nothing since April and I use weekly at least. I think you now have to activate any discounts in the app and have theme scanned at checkout.

Plus what the heck is the George rewards about. I've never yet been able to redeem any points!

FionnulaTheCooler · 06/06/2026 16:29

No, mine is shite too I've had nothing for months. I only really use it for a top up shop but last year I still built up enough to get a small Christmas cashpot going, this year it's empty.

Gloriousgardener11 · 06/06/2026 16:30

Yes I agree, I haven’t had any money in my cash pot for ages despite always using the app and I often spend £100 +
I feel they get all my shopping data and offer nothing of any great benefit!
I think the M+S app is similar so I stopped using it.

LaliqueSaltGrinder · 06/06/2026 16:30

I think there have been lots of issues at the top management level of Asda with Walmart selling, then the two brothers who took over falling out with each other. DS worked there for a while as an evening shelf stacker through the worst of it and that whole thing was a shitshow. Availability in my store is good, the staff are nice, they are the only place locally where you can buy a roast in the bag chicken, a printer cartridge and a pack of socks all under the same roof.

But I am not a loyal shopper and probably spend 35% of my budget in Tesco, 35% in Aldi, 10% in Asda and the remaining 20% split between the local Co-Op, local Sainsburys Express, Waitrose and Lidl.

Its honestly shite! The whole shopping experience with them is just a mess

EmpressaurusKitty · 06/06/2026 16:34

I use Asda for basics because it’s local, convenient & they generally have what I need. I wouldn’t say I feel any brand loyalty at all though.

BeSoCareful · 06/06/2026 16:34

The George rewards scheme is rubbish too they should allow points to be converted to vouchers

LaliqueSaltGrinder · 06/06/2026 16:37

I didn;t know George had an app - is it separate? I used to use them all the time for school uniform but now that my kids are past that stage I only ever buy the occasional pack of socks/knickers.

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 06/06/2026 16:39

I agree. I used to accrue a tidy sum when it first came out. Now it is barely anything.

And the George reward points baffle me too @macaroon8.

Yes, and I’m slightly embarrassed by my points total plus annoyed that there’s no real benefit the scheme as I’ve used them for everything for the last 15 years 😭

InconsequentialFerret · 06/06/2026 16:53

It was about a year ago Rewards stopped offering anything, then when I had nothing in my Christmas Wallet I couldn't be arsed to scan it again and haven't used it since.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 06/06/2026 17:04

Just had a fiver off a £35 spend and several vouchers for money off clothes, gardening , frozen food . I like it .

Passthecake30 · 06/06/2026 17:08

The checkout staff alerted me to a £2 off £12 fresh meat voucher last week, before that, nothing for a couple of years.

NCTDN · 06/06/2026 17:15

I agree. I used to get good deals and Asda was always the cheapest. But Tesco is definitely cheapest for me now. If I choose club card offers I spend less than in Lidl.
asda scan and shop always, without doubt, says I need a random spot check even though they’ve never found anything missing. That’s enough to stop me going there.

Electricsausages · 06/06/2026 17:15

The rewards are non existent
I rang up and complained and they put £3 on my app but have had nothing via shopping for months

Fernticket · 06/06/2026 18:55

I got so fed up of the app that I uninstalled it!

Meredusoleil · 06/06/2026 18:59

Nothing since April!

Meredusoleil · 06/06/2026 19:03

George Rewards on the other hand, have been excellent for me. I often get an extra 10% off sale items for 100 points. But then I tend to get the whole family's clothes from there, so collect a lot of points 😉

Yup . I have nearly 9000 points on this and the only thing I ever spend them on is getting delivery brought forward a day.

thesagarollson · 06/06/2026 19:41

I was doing well with it this year and have already £50 in my Christmas pot but for the last 5 or 6 weeks absolutely nothing and I spend about £100 each time

The Asda rewards app is utterly crap nowadays.

I agree I never bother anymore with it plus the app NEVER loads and wants me to mess about resetting passwords when I’m trying to pay
Tesco and Morrisons rewards are much better

1975wasthebest · 06/06/2026 19:53

It’s my nearest supermarket and it’s good value, but infected the app soon after they ended the partnership with Blue Light. The latest executive chairman seems obsessed with Rollback prices. He started in late 2024 so it’s him who’s probably cut the decent rewards, after the company doing really badly.
