Is anyone getting any benefit at all from the Asda rewards app?

Signed up a couple of years ago and for a while it was quite good. Seemed to build up points quite quickly, there was always extra points on offer, like spend £5 on laundry and get 50p or whatever. That's all gone, my current offers are only for non-grocery products like garden furniture and barbecues, and I have had 86p in my cashpot since December.

Asda seems to have really lost its way, it's the biggest supermarket round these parts and was significantly cheaper than Tesco/Sainsburys for a long time. But that's not the case any more, they just seem to be struggling and although I am well prepared to be told i'm unreasonable and people are regularly getting £5 off their shop, it just doesn't seem like that.

Disclaimer: I know the supermarkets owe us nothing, and that everything's a bonus etc etc. But I'd rather just go to Aldi which makes no pretence about rewarding loyalty.

It’s far worse than 2/3 years ago when they had rewards for spending targets + had rewards and money back per item for loads of things.

I’ve got £22 in my Christmas saver on there, that’s from Jan up to now and most of that is from the 3 months where they did the £1, £2, £3 thing for spending in a month. Clearly they realised it was being used so last month and this month even that has stopped😂

im never lucky with this all the sale things are never in the sizes we need I think they should let us swap points for vouchers like Tesco Clubcard !

Got nothing for ages, my balance is 12p! Pointless scanning the rewards thing and it isn’t in the same wallet as all my other rewards cards, I never remember!

I buy all dd's uniform in George as well, but where are my rewards?!

I was around in the awesome days of free shopping with the APG and wombling. Shame it couldn’t last forever. Don’t bother with Asda at all now

I used to do that too and quite often got money back after checking receipts. Asda quietly dropped the "we're cheapest" thing and they most definitely are not any more.

I agree its shite. I have a blue light card linked to it and during covid, used to get points for all fruit/veg and possibly all purchases. They cut that and I currently have 82p in my cash pot thing. Last year I had similar which expired because I didnt have enough to cash out.

I have a delivery pass with sainsburys and although somethings are pricier than asda/aldi, they do price match alot of items to aldi and lots of my regular items get discounted. Plus I have £18 of points with them from just this year.

No. I just logged on and it said prize £200! I was very excited and spent it straight away in case it was a mistake 🤣

After 4-6 shops of scanning it and getting nothing in the cash pot I uninstalled the app. Not sure if it wasn't working properly, or as designed, but couldn't be bothered to contact anyone to find out.

I stop in a quiet aisle at the end of my shop and check the App. If there are no coupons relevant to my shop (very rarely are) and there's no mission where you spend X to get x pounds off, then I don't bother scanning it. They're not having my data without rewarding me!

Asda's main sin is the constant overcharging though. For example , the shelf shows the item as £1 reduced from £1.35, but when you scan it, the price is still £1.35. Over and over and over again for years. I take photos and the checkout staff always change the price for me, but I am sure lots of people don't notice having been tempted to buy by the lower price.

I HATE Asda. The only reason I shop there is because my Mum with Alzheimer's shopped there and cannot cope with change.

50 quid! I have a fiver in my Christmas pot which I think was some odd one off bonus thing and 1.80 in my normal pot.

You have to register on the George site. It's different to the main Asda points/ rewards.

Yup, I’ve stopped shopping with Asda because the rewards app is utterly worthless now.

Oh, and our local Asda spent months of last year unable to scan the app. So that was a faff

I’ve always done really well out of this app. I had £30 in points that I changed into vouchers and spent yesterday. I’ve also won £60 twice on their prize thing where you tap a picture of a present. I also have the Asda credit card which gives points to be transferred into your cash pot. I’ve also had a few £10 prizes from the games too. I don’t love Asda, but it’s right next to school when I do drop off, so tend to go there out of convenience.

Asda has never been my main supermarket, but is useful for certain items. The Rewards scheme is now useless as little or nothing can be earned for addition to the Cashpot - and if you do accrue anything there it can only be spent when it reaches £1.00 and then only in round piund increments. So, when my balance last year of around 80p had not been used for six months (because it was less than £1.00, so couldn't be!), it was summarily removed. I now have a new balance of 30p or so, which I suspect will be written-off likewise as there is next to no chance of adding to it before six months is up.
And don't start me on the recent changes to the LIdl Plus rewards! They were quite generous, with freebies as each spend-level was reached in a month - and are now nothing more than a potential 1% cumulative discount.

I did get a couple of prizes a year or so ago when they did the spend £10 and get a scratchcard or whatever, but 25p or 50p, nothing more than that.

I do currently have a £5 off a £35 spend but may not use that.
