Anyone else love a June holiday?

I love a holiday any time to be honest but there's something about a June break in the Mediterranean or beach Europe.
I love being away for the summer solstice, having long hot days. The bank holidays of Easter and May have provided a few days off and got me in the mood.
Nearly every year for the last 10 or so we've taken a week or so to Greece. The weather is good and it's quieter and cheaper before the summer holidays. I always feel absolutely ready for it.
So roll on 2 more weeks.
Anyone joining me....

Sorry to be one of those people who interrupts someone else’s post… but I’m agonising over a holiday destination for next June for 2 adults and a 4 year old, and I’d love some advice.

I was planning 2 weeks in Devon but I’m so nervous about the weather. At the moment it’s not just wet and windy where I am but cold - I wore my winter coat to walk the dogs last night 😭

But I’m clueless about kiddie holidays - we’ve done UK since he was born. I really want nice food, no having to think about what to eat, and entertainment - good pool, playground, mini golf etc.

Sorry to OP - and thank you for any ideas!

Heading off on holidays in 9 days. My DC are already on summer holidays from school

I love a January holiday, then a June and maybe a little October break. In fact anytime is good but January or February sun is divine.

Try AI in Turkey. You get a lot of bang for your buck and there are many hotels with great stuff for children.

SIL flew to Greece today. I’m waiting for the photos! We are going to France this week. It will be quiet but I think the weather should be good. Can’t wait!

Please don't apologise, I'm not precious. I hope you get some helpful replies.

Thank you. Unfortunately I think Turkey would be too hot for me in June - but it’s somewhere I’d definitely consider if we were holidaying in April or May :)

Going abroad for the first time ever to Crete on the 15th. Seriously can't wait 😁

Just got back from Crete (Elounda)on Friday morning. Getting very very hot! Back to rain and wind here. It's depressing.

June is lovely in Europe. If we're going long haul it's usually October half term or Easter, if we're going in Europe it's May half term, so very end of May/start of June. In July/August we tend to stay in the UK.

I can't wait to not be a slave to school holidays. I never understand why people go on holidays in school holidays when they don't need to.

TheChosenTwo · 07/06/2026 14:23

I resent going abroad June-August as theoretically we SHOULD have nice ish weather here. Also we still have a dc in secondary so I’m always seething that we have to go away in August as a family when it would be much more beneficial to go for 2 weeks in November and January because dh and I crave heat and sunshine!
We tend to take family abroad holidays at Easter, May half term and during the summer hols and then dh and I bugger off for 10
days on our own in November!

menopausequeen · 07/06/2026 14:30

We go June and September to avoid school holidays, higher prices and weather that’s generally too hot for comfort

mummyof2021boy · 07/06/2026 14:34

I’m going on holiday (local) at end of June. I have a 4 year old so the school/council can’t fine until they are 5.
