Anyone else love a June holiday?

I love a holiday any time to be honest but there's something about a June break in the Mediterranean or beach Europe.
I love being away for the summer solstice, having long hot days. The bank holidays of Easter and May have provided a few days off and got me in the mood.
Nearly every year for the last 10 or so we've taken a week or so to Greece. The weather is good and it's quieter and cheaper before the summer holidays. I always feel absolutely ready for it.
So roll on 2 more weeks.
Anyone joining me....

Pre DC we always went away in June and September. Both lovely months in Europe.

Where are you off to?

HedgehogsOnTheWall · 05/06/2026 19:59

I love the idea, every year in June I think, oh it would be nice to go on holiday. Then promptly forget to do anything about it for the next year. My friend is in Italy just now and I am jealous!

Corfu for about the 6th time but we've found a resort we adore. It's the only place we return to but, for a week it's so easy not having to orient ourselves. It is a very different holiday to our usual type which is full on, exploring, multi destination....this is all about the relaxing.

I work term time so I dream of retirement when I can go on holiday in June - it really is the best month.

MyCottageGarden · 05/06/2026 20:08

I wish we had! Currently in Devon in a caravan as it was all I could afford and as I type this the entire caravan is shaking in the wind whilst the rain is hammering the windows 😐 ☔️ 💨 I haven’t left the British isles since 2007 and never been to Spain or anywhere Mediterranean (Always went to Canada or the US growing up). I’d love to be in Italy or Spain right now, drinking orange juice 🍊 in my flip flops 🩴

BettyscakeShop · 05/06/2026 20:09

We go every year in June, away just now in Majorca & loving it.

where in Corfu do you go?

MyCottageGarden · 05/06/2026 20:09

Right now. Send help, I’m genuinely struggling not to cry. 8 hours driving and every spare penny I had, for this. GO ABROAD, people!!!!!

June is awesome for a holiday.

My least favourite month in the year is actually August when people 'should' be having fun in the sun. I find it a melancholic time for whatever reason, always have done.

Devilsmommy · 05/06/2026 20:15

Going abroad for the first time ever to Crete on the 15th. Seriously can't wait 😁

Musicmummy63 · 05/06/2026 20:20

Just arrived in Kefalonia for a 2 week holiday as it's our 39th wedding anniversary. It's glorious, lovely people and a sea view, what more could you want.

Pendapala · 05/06/2026 20:22

I adored our pre-DC holidays! Will be making the most of DD finishing her A-levels this year to take her somewhere lovely (destination TBC)

It’s actually quite hard to find holiday destinations in late July/ August, the last four years have been- Japan (too hot), Namibia (too cold), France (so hot I nearly died), British Columbia (was that the sun? Oh, gone again.)

Crushed23 · 05/06/2026 20:27

No really, no. I like staying in my city in June. The weather is lovely and there’s so much on.

Best time to travel is November-March when it’s cold.

PhoebeBuffay1234 · 05/06/2026 20:32

I’m affected by heat so it would probably be too hot for me. We go abroad at the end of April and do a UK holiday in the last week of July and the first week of August.

Silverbirchleaf · 05/06/2026 20:33

June or September for us also, in UK or abroad. Decent weather, not too hot, and away from school holidays.

LindorDoubleChoc · 05/06/2026 20:38

We just booked a holiday yesterday and we go in 3 weeks time at the end of June! I love not having to fit in around school holidays any more.

We found a villa with pool near Porto in Portugal. I've been to Porto before but a really long time ago, and have wanted to return for ages.

It's only a week but we'll have another week in September or October. We'll go to somewhere that's unbearably hot in the summer - possibly Seville, Sicily or Athens.

It's bloody great having grown up children!

hahabahbag · 05/06/2026 20:42

I’m away at the moment, road trip, it’s poured with rain all day (dried up at 6pm) this wouldn’t have been too bad except we are on motorbikes, my gear is soaked through, it’s expensive supposedly waterproof kit! Next year i choose the destination, Greece is sounding like a great choir op.

Olive42 · 05/06/2026 20:44

Oh enjoy, op and everyone else who can do this! 👍🌊☀️
Alas, as a teacher of 25 years, we can only go in school holidays but one day… During one maternity leave, we went on holiday in September and it felt great, quieter, lovely weather but not as hot as peak summer.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 05/06/2026 20:50

We normally go end June/beginning July but due to extra trips last autumn and my stupid annual leave year starting in August, we're not away until the first two weeks of September dammit.

Pre DC we always went away in June & September. We’re going away at the end of this month as DC will have finished GCSE’s but next year back to school holidays!

Vetoncall · 05/06/2026 21:11

We just got back from 8 days in Italy a few days ago, the weather was beautiful and we had a great time. We always do a European holiday in late May/early June, usually Italy, Croatia or the Cyclades. We're going to Canada in July and then I'm taking my DM to Greece for 5 days in early September. May, June and September are the perfect months for Europe imo.

ginislife · 05/06/2026 21:12

I’m off to Portugal 23 June. Love it.

canuckup · 05/06/2026 21:17

The further into June the hotter it gets but I love it. 30 degrees is perfect when you're not working and dont need to do much other than chill, swim and eat.

We holiday in Feb, May/June and September. I love my February holiday for some sun when it’s normally around 30, I need heat in winter.
