Ever been clubbing abroad?

Have you ever been clubbing abroad and by that I mean outside the UK and also the Republic of Ireland.

What was it like? For me. It's a thing I want to experience for some reason.

Yes in Ibiza, did all the big clubs and a rave in an abandoned Zoo, it was amazing.
Also in Benidorm. Very good also.

Have been clubbing in Ibiza / Cuba /Crete /Corfu/Kos /Iceland / Tunisia and Peru.

I am 70 now. I have done Ibiza in my 50s. I heard about a 72-year-old who did Ibiza and took her Mum. I might give it another crack.

God yes..Ibiza, Goa, Greece, Lisboa, Algarve, Madrid, Sydney, New york, Canary islands, Paris…all many many years ago 😫

Yes in magaluf. Absolutely horrific. Saw about 10 girls get fingered in a nightclub

for me best places were Paris NY and beefs. But I love club culture so I try to go wherever i am.

the only snogging I really saw was in Europe everywhere else was more about music drinking and dancing

New York, Ibiza, Gran Canaria and Berlin. All different times. New York early 90s.

I forgot about Goa! Full moon beach parties!

I lived in south London as a student and pretty sure I went to that venue in Brixton- is it the one in the middle of a park/grassy area? I had a bloody good night there from what I can remember!

Yes that’s the one. It was upstairs but there was a restaurant in the basement on the other side. I went there too.

Beijing in the mid 2000s a lot as I lived there, very different but it was very cheap and fun, my favourite was a club that ran like a buffet unlimited drinks with your entry for a few hours

It’s kind of like a square, grassy area. Lots of churches in London have these especially in busy traffic areas, unsure about elsewhere. St Matthew’s church was the Brixton church.

Yes, a lot - used to travel extensively for my work and downtime was always abroad somewhere. But that was 15 - 25 years ago so everything will have changed by now...

That's the one. It always felt slightly subversive, which was great. Good drum and bass/jungle nights.

Yes, when I was stripping in Cyprus.

The guy who owned the club I worked in also owned most other clubs in the centre. If you worked for him, you got buy one get one free on all drinks. All the clubs also gave a free shot with each drink. This, coupled with the fact that most bartenders free poured (and I think were overly generous with strippers for not-always-genuine reasons) meant that I had never been so drunk in my entire life.

Order a vodka and orange, you get two of them plus two shots.
Fun, but I kept as careful as I possibly could! I am gay but the other dancers were enjoying attracting large groups of squaddies and I was watching everyone for being taken advantage of.

Surely you'd be better of asking for recommendations for type of clubs/ music you are interested in?

It's not something I've ever done and home, and I've never made an effort to do it abroad. That said, I did it once in Ulaanbaatar and once in St Petersbourg, and they were both really exceptionally interesting evenings!

But putting that aside, in Barcelona it was a mix of stuff I recognised from clubs at home and some Reggaeton I wasn’t familiar with (but mainland European friend was).

The (horrible) club I went to in Turkey kept playing a popular Turkish pop song that was the big number one hit of the summer.
A year or so later an English version was released by Holly Valance (actress from Neighbours) and she performed it on Top of the Pops in a practically naked costume.
That was back in 1999 though.....

Ibiza a few times in the 00s. Very good back then as everyone dancing, no smartphones! Expensive but nothing like today’s prices.
Prior to that Mallorca in 2000, went to a small club on a girls holiday that the locals knew (all the bar staff went there & took us with them), good house music. All kinds of stuff happened on that holiday, it was fun.
