Does anyone believe Nicola Sturgeon?

As per title, does anyone actually believe NS with her claims she had no idea her husband stole £400k, didn't notice the MANY luxury items just appearing around her home, and is a victim in his deceit?

No..she epitomises everything I hate about politics.

SwirlyGates · 31/05/2026 11:31

I don't know if she knew about the money, but many accounts are now coming out from insiders of her blocking investigation of SNP funds. So either she was arrogant and autocratic, or she had her suspicions.

DontStopMe · 31/05/2026 11:31

I'm sure she must have known or at least suspected. She would not have investigated because bringing down her husband would take her down as well.

Shudacudawuda · 31/05/2026 11:31

No I don't believe her at all.
I think she's as corrupt as they come and a total liar. I think she belongs in prison with her husband and probably a few other SNP members.

TirednessOnToast · 31/05/2026 11:31

NS is claiming that:
they both earned well, so maybe PM could have afforded nice things: maybe?
she was busy running a country so didn't notice all the luxe coffeemakers etc
It's fairly well known here in Scotland that NS lived elsewhere a lot of the time (see French Ambassador & the purchase of Judy Murray's old house): maybe?

It is not a case of 'should Mrs happily married in a Lego House have known the salt & pepper pots were Lalique not sparkly Matalan? Not at all

NS was leader of the SNP. PM was Chief Executive. She signed off on the accounts. NS KNEW there was a problem. She is on camera, more than once, saying;' 'nothing to see here, all fine, don't ask too many questions'. She knew,
(this is a direct consequence of 'Wheesht for Indy' & the way the SNP was run)
Accountants resigned. MSP's asked qu's (Joanna Cherry) & were bullied out.

If she really did not know she SHOULD have known.

cheezncrackers · 31/05/2026 11:32

I read in The Times this morning that she's moved to London. Fucking hypocrite! This is the woman who led the SNP for years in their campaign for Scotland to leave the UK. Now she's scuttled down to London to escape the anger of Scottish voters who (rightly) feel utterly betrayed by her.

AgnesMcDoo · 31/05/2026 11:32

I do.

I hate Sturgeon.

But I’ve been a victim of this type of crime (by a colleague) and known the family whose
mum did this type of crime.

there type of criminals are con men / women who’ve spent their whole lives lying and grooming those around them.

the family and the friends get manipulated and lied too in the same way anyone else does.

add to that she was doing a job were she would be returning home at midnight and leaving at 6am - often 6/7 days a week. She would have also stayed overnight in her government house a few times a week.

so when she says she was never home, didn’t cook etc - that’s all true

so whilst I can’t stand the woman - I believe she didn’t know, was lied too and manipulated.

what is on her, what she is accountable for is

telling us she fully cooperated with the police when she gave no comment

refusing to allow the proper scrutiny of the SNP accounts and then exacting revenge on anyone who answered questions

keeping him on as CEO of the SNP whilst she was FM in a clear conflict of interest

so she has enabled corruption and she is a liar and she deserves everything that’s coming to her and more

but did she know? I don’t think so

porchiepalava · 31/05/2026 11:33

SocialistMummy · 31/05/2026 10:09

I believe her, yes.

Do you really think she would have risked everything as leader of her country - including her freedom - for a nicer pepper pot?

But she didn’t risk it. She kept enough distance that she wasn’t complicit and was able to walk away when it came out. That’s not the same as not knowing. Of course she knew. She was just clever enough to ensure he would take all of the fall.

HedgehogsOnTheWall · 31/05/2026 11:33

I'm amazed that anyone still believes this load of old bollocks!

Starbright102 · 31/05/2026 11:05

This is abundantly clear even in the general day to day when no one is ever allowed to have a different opinion

This!
and this thread itself is a great example of how the Scottish Nasty Party remains in power! The unyielding devotion to their madness. The excuses on here.. “well it was over a long period of time, so embezzling £30k a year isn’t really wrong is it? All the apologists I can imagine would be up in arms if anyone from other party spent money on a Tunnocks tea cake! Has she blamed Westminster yet?

Limth · 31/05/2026 11:34

I believe her.
If she's thick enough to believe that women can have dicks, she's thick enough to miss her husband's financial misbehaviour.

Poor woman.
Thoughts and prayers.

Loubissou · 31/05/2026 11:34

I don't believe her but while everyone is believing her or not, it conveniently distracts from Farage and his £5M bung.

flapjackfairy · 31/05/2026 11:35

I dont believe her in the least. Can't believe so many people do tbh

Abouttoblow · 31/05/2026 11:36

If she didn't know about the embezzlement it was because she, and others, were focused on covering up that they stole the £600k ring fenced for independence and used it for the general election.

Canoodler · 31/05/2026 11:36

She turned a blind eye.
She dismissed suspicions.
She prevented proper scrutiny.
She did not want to know.
It's the worst kind of dishonesty.

HellsBells67 · 31/05/2026 11:36

Not only do I not believe her, I also don't believe that was a true marriage in the traditional sense.

Lalgarh · 31/05/2026 11:38

Gotobedbyday · 31/05/2026 10:21

£80k a year is not a high earner in the context of the items he was buying.

Liz Taylor ended up buying the jewellery that Richard Burton would gift to her on his behalf, towards the end of their 2nd marriage

ManyShapesOfPasta · 31/05/2026 11:39

TY78910 · 31/05/2026 10:17

400k looks like a lot to us ordinary people but he was the chief exec of the SNP. It’s entirely possible that she didn’t notice.

She has divorced him - if she stayed with him, I would have believed she was complicit. But she kicked him to the curb.

It was never a real marriage anyway, that was an open secret

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 31/05/2026 11:41

Hmmm. I’m not sure that Murrell and Sturgeon are quite Burton and Taylor.

It was fairly well known in Edinburgh legal circles more than 5 years ago.
I also know one of the Police officers re the iron at the Balmoral incident.

She enabled fraud. She refused to cooperate with the Police. She threatened other MSP's. She didn't raise an alarm when Accountants resigned en masse.

She's lived in London for a while now.
She is currently doing a 'poor me, the woman is always the last to know' around book fairs atm. What about the people whose money was stolen? Poor them!
(& poor Scotland, another 4 years of these idiots - remember Swinney was high up in the party during this whole time - yet it 'comes out' 4 weeks AFTER the election in Scotland - what a surprise. The SNP, inc NS, is corrupt as anything)

I'm amazed anyone thinks NS is 'innocent'.

QuintessentiallyScottish · 31/05/2026 11:42

I am genuinely shocked at how many people believe her. I know she still has snicophants, for reasons I will never understand, but them aside, are people really that blind.

She's good at turning on the tears, I'll give her that, but that doesn't mean she should be trusted. With anything.

Zanatdy · 31/05/2026 11:43

I do believe her. Like she said they were on good salaries, so not like someone on minimum wage showing up with a Ferrari. I mean it would have been pretty dumb in her position to risk it.

Love ‘snicophants’.

Doggydoctor · 31/05/2026 11:43

No, I do not believe her for a second. She has been found lying many times and spins it around.
Oh look a squirrel!
Remember his loan of 107K to SNP to help with cash flow in June 2021 the Party Treasurer Douglas Chatman resigned in May 2021 as he was not getting access to the full information about party finances.
He was the first of 3? To quit over the finances.
Remember them scrambling to get the accounts audited in time after this debacle .
She can’t recall!!!! when she first heard about the loan, funny that phrase again, she claimed she didn’t know about that and it was his resources nothing to do with me.
Oh please she would have been told funds are low, come on people are so blinkered by her.
Her not seeing the camper van in her MIL driveway
Doesn’t cook rarely goes into the kitchen so never noticed expensive coffee machine expensive salt and pepper set.
Yet a picture of her standing beside said coffee machine was published.

THisbackwithavengeance · 31/05/2026 11:44

Of course she knew. She was the First Minister of Scotland hence by definition a clever and astute human being. All those saying oh well poor Nicola, she couldn’t be expected to realise what her clever, high earning DH was up to need to get a grip.

She’s a disgrace. I hear she’s moved to an England. Shame there wasn’t independence and she could be refused entry.
