As well as support Trump.

But then he took a seat on that 'board of peace'

Personally think his involvement in Trump's 'Board of Peace' is the most egregious of all

Still the Labour haters are loving it - there's already a thread about it

I have posted this on my favourite cat thread but thought I'd share here too as a voluntary additional tax payment. The cats are under strict instructions not to eat cygnets.

That's certainly a cute pic - but aren't you worried what the adult swans might do to your cats? they can be so aggressive

DuncinToffee · 27/05/2026 09:10

Blair had to do some lobby work for the £257m donation from an AI investor

He can be ignored.

I wish he would just shut up.

BIWI · 27/05/2026 09:14

Thanks for the comments re the pharmacist. I didn't question it at the time, even though I thought it was odd. TBH I just wanted to get the medication.

But I'll check it out with the practice today.

Me too. In classic MN terminology “he’s had his turn”. Even Thatcher had the decency to keep her mouth shut in public after she’d left power.

We've lived here for nearly 30 years. I think the swans and the various cats we've had 'understand' each other sufficiently not to worry. A previous cat decided just once to stalk a black swan that was in our garden. When the swan faced him and hissed, our otherwise very brave cat just legged it 🤣.

Agreed - I was very amused by someone describing him as 'far right' on another thread though...
I think 'has been twat' is a better description for him now.

Re Pharmacy First, it actually only covers a few conditions, and looks like I wouldn't have been covered:

Pharmacy First covers treatment for seven common conditions, including earache (ages 1-17), impetigo (ages 1+), infected insect bites (ages 1+), shingles (ages 18+), sinusitis (ages 12+), sore throat (ages 5+), and urinary tract infections in women aged 16-64. Pharmacists at this location can provide advice, treatment, and prescription medicines for these conditions, updating your GP health record automatically.

But I'm still going to query being charged for the whole thing!

Piggywaspushed · 27/05/2026 09:29

Oh , how I hate the way people use the word 'including'. Is that all of them, or not??

placemats · 27/05/2026 09:32

I once went to a pharmacy in France for infected insect bites. The pharmacist, who spoke perfect English, was most apologetic for having to charge me because my EHIC card didn't cover it. She told me that it would be free for French nationals. This was in 1999. @BIWI

dontcallmelen · 27/05/2026 09:40

Thank you for the new thread Duncin & all contributors, glad to see you back Jane Blair should stfu.
I went to the chemist a couple of weeks ago had a bee sting on my finger that looked infected, was seen within five minutes by the pharmacist & issued with a seven day course of antibiotics no charges, I would query it Biwi

It seems there is an interesting dynamic growing (from the Brexit thread).

In order to protect their precious Brexit, some Brexiteers are being forced to talk up the economy. Point out how well the UK is doing.

I look forward to seeing our current government totally wasting this opportunity to confuse the unfashionable portions of the electorate.

cardibach · 27/05/2026 10:46

Talking of Brexit, I had to evict my French neighbour’s cheeky fucker orange cat from my house again this morning (he got in yesterday and Perdy had a little dust up with him). A properly delivered Brexit would have prevented this, I feel sure. Additional tax of Perdy facing him down from inside the catio a couple of weeks ago.

It wasn't an EHIC card but the E111 paper. Our two daughters would have been treated free. ( Son was just a twinkle in the eye then.)

Today is a good day to clean the fridge.
I am going to take ages over it .............

dontcallmelen · 27/05/2026 12:08

Enjoy the lovely weather, it’s cooled down here a bit nice refreshing breeze I’m taking dgd’s to the cinema seeing the sheep detectives I think I’m more looking forward to it than them.

BestIsWest · 27/05/2026 13:47

I really enjoyed The Sheep Detectives @dontcallmelen. Very sweet and quite profound in some ways.

This is the best idea I've seen for weeks 🤣

PickAChew · 27/05/2026 14:43

I've got me coat on and I'm cold! 15 with a sharp Easterly. DS2 doesn't seem to feel it, though.

Piggywaspushed · 27/05/2026 15:48

Big thunderstorms here for two hours this morning. It is now hot again.

They didn't reach us this morning but I could hear the rumbling in the distance.

Efacsen · 27/05/2026 16:13

Not even a sniff of a storm here - still 28 degrees clear blue skies and barely a breeze - not pleasant at all

30 degrees here. There are a few clouds on the horizon now though, so maybe we will have some thunder. Last night was horrible, really hard to sleep.

MN seems angrier than usual. Must be the heat fraying tempers.
