I don't want to be fat. But i don't exercise.

I feel like I'm going to be fat for ever. I know ideally your meant to loose weight slowly but it just feels hopeless. I have lost but its now slowed right down to an almost stop.

I know the answer is exercise I do very little. I just can't get motivated. I never stick to it. I have apps as smart bike that I can do challenges with when connected to tv. I need to do core and stomach exercise I find that even harder to do. Logically I know what I need to do. And it's down to me to put the effort in. But I find it hard. When it should be simple.

Just edit to add i can't reduce calories anymore. I'm already lower than I should be.

I edited my post after your post. Diet /calorie wise there is not much more u can do.

If your calorie intake is low and you are not losing weight and don’t exercise- everyone should for health reasons - have you seen your GP?

How fat is fat, OP? What's your bmi? It may be that your tummy is not toned if you have loose skin, having lost weight. I don't look at myself much naked because it's not a pretty sight, but I look pretty good in clothes now and that's good enough for me!

I was 14 stone in November. I was 11st. 03 mid February bmi was 25.3 today 25th May. I'm 9st 09. Bmi 21.7

My stomach bis awful i think it a mix of fat and loose skin. If I have a bath it moves around with movement of the water it's gross.

So your not overweight then with that bmi....maybe you need a tummy tuck instead.

That makes no sense. If you’re exercising to increase your caloric output then that means you can also simply reduce the caloric intake for the same net effect.

titchy · 25/05/2026 11:58

Why do you think you’re overweight? Your skin has stretched that’s all.

So you are losing weight then. I have lost a similar amount to you and was a similar starting weight. I'm noticeably slimmer but I don't have a totally flat, wobble free stomach.

dizzydizzydizzy · 25/05/2026 12:02

I’ve lost 6 stone in 19 months. I am disabled and can’t exercise. It is not necessary to exercise to lose weight.

Either you are eating a diet that doesn’t suit you or you have a medical issue eg underactive thyroid. Maybe get your GP to run some blood tests? Assuming they are ok, you need to overhaul your diet. It’s not just a case of calorie deficit, it is also eating the right calories and also timing plays a role too.

So, if for example, you are eating a carb-heavy diet and not exercising AND your personal biology means that your body is very fast at converting carbs into blood glucose, then it will tend to be converted into fat. if you start running, having a body that converts carbs into blood sugars quickly is obviously an advantage.

I’d have a look into a Mediterranean diet.

Regarding timing - scientists have found out that our gut bacteria like a daily mini fast and it better to eat all your food within a short time window. - from
memory that window is 8-10 hours. Although 12 hours is still good and better than 14 hours. I this case, food includes all drinks except water and black tea or coffee without sugar.

That's not going to happen. Because I will never have that kind of money. Also theres still to much fot on my stomach area. Its not just loose skin.

I don't understand what you mean? If I go lower it will be to low.

Talk about a back story 🙄

doopwoop · 25/05/2026 12:08

I would look at OMAD or similar reduced hours for eating. Makes a huge difference.

Reallynotthatbothered · 25/05/2026 12:12

Am I missing something or have you lost 5 stone in only 6 months?!! That’s phenomenal. You’ve obviously reached the weight you’re meant to be. No one can lose that much weight that quickly without leaving some excess skin. Well done though. Maybe concentrate on trying to tone or get some decent shape wear. But don’t starve yourself because your body does actually need calories to function. What weight were you hoping to get down to out of interest?

This is amazing progress!! All since November!!

You need to step back and look at the bigger picture and bask in the progress you’ve made.

Keep doing what you’re doing because it’s obviously working. If you want to tone your core I would recommend Jessica Valant videos on You Tube. Start small and it will get easier.

BertieBotts · 25/05/2026 12:13

Would you like to exercise and are looking for tips on how to get it to work even though you find it hard to stick to?

Is it just exercise you find it hard to stick to BTW or is that a theme in a lot of areas of life? (I am not asking this as a judgemental question. I am wondering because it can be part of a pattern which can make it harder to solve if unidentified).

With saying it's mostly your tummy, have you had children? I am a healthy weight BMI-wise, but my tummy is flabby because I have had three DC and I do find that when I exercise (Pilates specifically) it helps - I used to have people asking me if I was pregnant because my belly stuck out so much compared with the rest of me and my youngest was 2-3 years old. I did get checked for a prolapse/distasis recti and I don't have one thankfully. After doing a combo of Pilates and some cycling I no longer get the pregnancy questions, though it's still quite wobbly. I like the Pilates so I will keep going.

If you're not losing weight, you arent in a calorie deficit. Its that simple

JustGiveMeTheNoodles · 25/05/2026 12:15

Naughty me didnt RTFT. Sounds like you'd benefit from strength training to get toned

Can you not just make "more movement" part of your normal day? It doesn't have to be "formal" exercise. Just move more.

I.e. park further away from home/work/shops and walk a bit further. Or walk to the next bus stop instead of the nearest one and same at the other end.

Be more active around the house, instead of making one trip upstairs with handfuls of stuff, take a bit less each time and do 2 or 3 trips up/down instead. Likewise bringing food/snacks/drinks to/from the kitchen - again 2-3 trips instead of one.

Take the stairs at work or shopping centres instead of the lift/escalator.

If you're desk based work, get a standing desk instead of sitting all day.

Walk to the local shops instead of taking the car.

Little but often is a good way to move more and be more active.

BitOutOfPractice · 25/05/2026 12:19

Sadly it is not possible to target weight loss to a particular area. Exercises to tone the muscle in that area will help it look better, but no exercise will target a particular area of fat.

Im a little confused about the timing thing?

I don't really have carbs. I don't eat any potato products. No rice no pasta, wraps. I do have toast once or twice a week.

I do have chicken, protein yogurts, white fish. Boiled egg, strawberries, raspberries, grapes, occasionally water melon. Sometimes a cereal bar or skinny bar. I do drink alot of sugar free fizzy drink. Oh and prawns.

After seeing OP’s update I think this is the most relevant post.

OP, I think you should:

Get yourself some really nice clothes for your new slimmer figure, that fit properly and are flattering. Vinted helps do that without paying too much.

Stand up straight! Face the world with confidence. That also means checking you’re wearing the right bra size and if your posture’s still not great do some gentle yoga YouTube videos or something.

Try and find exercise that you like for the health benefits.

Forget about your flabby tummy and enjoy life.

WhatWouldDianeLockhartDo · 25/05/2026 12:27

If you’re not losing weight then you’re not in a calorie deficit. Pick foods that work for you. Fasting is the only thing that works for me. I also do an exercise that works for me and keeps me motivated. Even walking helps.

abs are made in the kitchen and that so don’t worry but it will speed it up.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 25/05/2026 12:28

I don’t exercise at all. I have lost weight by using Mounjaro which has helped me eat less. It’s all about calories going in.

gamerchick · 25/05/2026 12:28

Could you maybe post your average daily diet OP? There may be tweeks in there somewhere.
