I'm in my conservatory spot with my first cuppa of the day, before it gets too hot to sit in here. The cats have had breakfast & are bird watching out the windows. I don't know why they insist on sitting in here when it gets really hot though 🤷‍♀️.

School have just text to say that today's revision session is cancelled so dd2 can stay asleep until she wakes up - it's hopefully done her some good taking most of the weekend off revision!

Dd1 didn't text me she was home safely from work yesterday so I'm waiting to hear from her - she usually does but might just have forgotten.

While I wait, I'll drink my brew then potter about at various jobs. I'll water the plants before it gets too hot outside shortly

The rest of the day, I want to get a first coat of paint on the hallway, take up a pair of trousers, list a few things on Vinted and design dd2's leavers shirt. I need to do a Tesco order too but will probably do that tonight.

If I get all that done, I'll try and finish Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, so I can start one of the new books I picked up in The Works with dd2 on Saturday.

Tea will probably be something light and salady again 🤔, maybe with a cider or frozen cocktail for me.

What about all of you? 🌞

I’m painting the garden shed … which actually means removing the soffits and taking them to a shady spot to paint. I’ll then sit and watch paint dry! Whilst drinking huge amounts of lime squash. It’s all rock and roll here!

Natsku · 25/05/2026 08:57

Jealous as its not a bank holiday here so I'm at work

Domino211 · 25/05/2026 09:02

I was up at 5.30am to take the dog for a lovely long walk before it heats up - he had a great time and it was so beautiful and quiet!

DH is away on a work trip, DS1 finished his exams last week and went away for a few days and got home last night happy but tired. DS2 still has exams to go so he’ll be revising (hopefully!).

So it’ll be a quiet pottering day at home, bit boring but will be nice.

VivaciousCurrentBun · 25/05/2026 09:03

You shouldn’t paint when it’s really hot, it evaporates too quickly, I know because I wanted to paint a wall this weekend and scientist DH said don’t.

We are out for a walk in about 5 minutes before it gets too hot.

DH is setting up the air conditioning unit we bought yesterday, hurrah for that as it is due to be 30 degrees here. I will be watching films, doing some hand sewing and gaming in my cooled room. I will also wash my heavy bedspread in the bath as it’s huge and heavy. We trample on it together like wine makers with our feet as it’s too big for the machine.

I may also have a go at designing the miniature room I am going to be making as a gift for my adult niece. I have made a lot of props in my life and did make some dolls house furniture many years ago. Have watched a few online tutorials already. She was telling me how fascinating she finds them. I will knit tiny rugs made from embroidery thread, I did it years ago, eyes are a lot older now though. I have modelling clay for items and have been saving small amounts of card, picked through my crafting stuff and found some paper with tiny prints on for the wallpaper, I’m probably making a little afternoon tea with Auntie scene. I adore my niece, she has had a very rough year and I’m hoping she loves it.

Newnammmme · 25/05/2026 09:10

I’m going to have a lazy ish day.

I have already done the washing up and been on a tick tock (book tok) live - waste of time for me fyi - sadly that one isn’t a money spinner for me yet but a did sell a box set overnight which should be £6 commission (quick update for those following!)

husband worked overnight so will be sleeping when he comes home I would imagine.

youngest is on his paper round and eldest is asleep right now but starting work at 12.

im going to tidy the lounge (library) clean bathroom, make lasagna for tea and sit in the sun with a book.

might try another live this afternoon

Chipsahoy · 25/05/2026 09:12

I’ve waved my kids off on their respective buses to school and now dh and I are sitting in the garden. Scotland, so no holiday here although we have one next Monday. Dh has the day off as his company is based in England.

Gardening day and maybe s’mores around the fire pit later this evening. 22c high here today.
happy bank holiday.

lucysmam · 25/05/2026 09:14

@VivaciousCurrentBun that explains why my acrylics were hard to use last time it was hot! I really wanted to get the bulk of the painting done over half term too.

Good morning lucysmam and everyone else.
God willing youre all having a great morning so far.

My baby is 5 weeks old tomorrow. Can you believe that? Its been a while since I posted.
Today's plan is to do a deep clean of the house, de clutter and organise all the dry laundry. We had new drawers delivered for the kids clothes so will be folding that away with them.
We have eid tomorrow. The big eid. Ive spent the best part of a week shopping online for presents as im still recovering from my c-section and dont feel like shopping on foot with a breastfeeding non stop newborn.
So will be having a lot of things delivered today and tomorrow!!! 7 kids is a lot of presents!!!
Ive also got a big asda coming with lots of goodies and treats. Kids are going to lose their minds.

If anyone here doesnt know what eid is, its like the muslim celebration similar to Christmas as we dont actually celebrate Christmas. We love jesus but we dont celebrate his birth. There are 2 eid. This one and one we had a couple months ago to celebrate the end of Ramadan.

So yes, a very busy day!!! Hoping i can get it all done with my kiddy gang whilst also caring and feeding little lady.
Dinner tonight is shawarma and salad.

Have a lovely bank holiday and half term week if youre off for that too!!! 🌼 🌸 🌻

It’s not a bank holiday here in Ireland, next Monday is. I’m working 12 to 4 today. I had chemo last Wednesday and Thursday (24 hour infusion) and still feel quite rough.

coneyislandoldspot · 25/05/2026 09:16

I’ll be finishing off a dress that I started making yesterday, it’s a toile for one I want to make to take on holiday.

At some point I need to get out for a run but I think that’ll be a horrible experience all around 🤣

DilemmaDelilah · 25/05/2026 09:20

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone! I was hoping you would start a new thread today.

We are going out for some milk and tomatoes in a bit. We don't need anything else but I'm sure we will come back with some other stuff.

Mr Dilemma got our big suitcase down from the loft ready for us to take on holiday yesterday, and I didn't realise that there are a few clothes in it I have never worn (too small) and I'm unlikely to wear in the next year or so (or ever) so I'm going to wash them to get rid of any slight mustiness and pop them on vinted. They are nice things so I'm hoping they sell.

No other plans for today. Mr Dilemma is still dead against going out anywhere nice on a bank holiday Monday.....

Also - I don't think I said yesterday - my sister and my niece are part of the Hawkstone Farmer's Choir which got through to the BGT final on Saturday! I'm so proud of them both. The final is on Saturday so I have my fingers crossed for them. Monday

Enjoy your bank holiday Monday everyone, if you can.

Good morning all. Never posted here before but on other Mumsnet topics. Day off today. Was away for the weekend clearing out a relative's house. Home today with a day off. On my third coffee! (see username) and trying to psych myself up to do some housework. My get up and go has left the country never mind the building and I don't even have the excuse of the heat! ( in Scotland).

Welcome to the Lucysmams gang, we are here every weekend. I just love these threads, came across it almost 2 years ago.

muddyford · 25/05/2026 09:27

I had a shower, fed the dogs and had two cups of tea. Took dogs out for an hour then hung washing out before going out on my bicycle for half an hour. Had good breakfast.

Shortly I'll be visiting DH who is on end of life care, then gardening if it isn't too hot. Then out with dogs for twenty minutes once it cools down.

rachrose8 · 25/05/2026 09:35

I’m a teacher so fortunately have a week off (thought exhausted after GCSE and A-level classes with all their extra after school and breakfast revision). But my garage is overflowing with Guide camping equipment, stuff from my late parents house and random stuff from my 3 uni kids….so having a big clear out and sending DH to the tip. Hoping that although it will be hard work, by the evening it will be sorted and I’ll be much calmer. It’s been preying on my mind for weeks, so glad the weather is good to pole random stuff up on the drive.
Then nice meal and lead.

Bobbieiris · 25/05/2026 09:38

My partners mum and dad are coming to look after our toddler twins and we're having a parental day off! Just going to potter about, go for a late breakfast, a coffee, maybe pop into a beer garden! Just going to pop in the shower and get ready as ive been playing with the girls. Have a nice bank holiday everyone 🙂

Theraininspainishere · 25/05/2026 09:44

I plan to spend the majority of the day naked in the garden, evening up my tan, then swim in a lake or river with husband and dog!

Octavia64 · 25/05/2026 09:46

Sitting in the garden drinking tea.
going to meet friends for a swim shortly and probably have brunch in the pub afterwards.

i really really need to work on my veg garden.

i’ve moved some of the crap out of the way and basically everything needs repotting,

two raised beds to build as well but that might not happen today. We’ll see.

lucysmam · 25/05/2026 09:52

@Berlinlover hats off to you working through chemo - I was desperate to be back at work but was told no so many times! Actually, today is three years since my first round of chemo - I hadn't thought about it until reading your post.

@Judgejudysno1fan wow, five weeks already?!

@coneyislandoldspot I haven't sewn anything in years...and I've now lost the fabric that has been waiting for inspiration to strike 🙄.

@Coffeebeforework my get up and go often vacates 🤷‍♀️. It's too hot to be doing much housework anyway.

@muddyford I hope your DH is as comfortable as he can be 💐.

Simonjt · 25/05/2026 10:21

Morning all, no bank holiday here so the kids are at school and preschool as usual. My husbands been unwell, he had strep throat, we’ve all had sore throats so we didn’t think too much of it and he ended up with sepsis. He’s still in hospital and all his organ function tests etc have come back okay this morning, so we think he’ll be home by wednesday. I’m tidying and cleaning bits of the house that have been neglected, it isn’t as hot here so I’ll go on a run with the dog in a bit. I’ll go and see him this afternoon, I know he’s feeling a lot better as his morning texts today we’re just him whinging about things.

The kids both have dance after school tonight so we’ll have a lazy dinner, probably biryani.

Have lovely days, don’t spend too much time in the sun.

Jellycatspyjamas · 25/05/2026 10:26

I’ve got two loads of washing done and in the line and the ironing done. Going to clean the bathrooms and then settle down to books and cold drinks, maybe potter about in the garden for a while. Dog was walked at 6.30 this morning to beat the heat later in the day so he’s snoozing in the shade.

Dinner will be marinated lamb cooked on the bbq with Moroccan cous cous salad.

Thislittlekitten · 25/05/2026 12:07

Afternoon All

Scotland here too but it’s a bank holiday here so all off work and school bar DH who doesn’t take them.

I’ve had a lazy morning after yesterday’s meet up. Wasn’t too late for me. I can’t do that anymore but was great fun.
Done a wee tidy and will be heading up to parents soon.

Back Around tea time to sort tea, showers and lunches for tomorrow.
I will try to do some work on my course work.

I have pies and mash for tea which don’t match the weather but everyone fancies.

zingally · 25/05/2026 12:34

Managed to have my first "proper" lie-in for weeks. And by lie-in I mean about 8:30. Slept pretty well, despite the heat. Got up twice in the night to splash cold water over my top half, and that cools me enough to get to sleep again quickly.

Went out to the garden about 10am to hang out some washing, debated putting a chair out in the shade, but decided it was too hot even for that. Retreated back in-doors, where I'll probably stay until I go out late afternoon to drive round and water a friends plants.

Going to have lunch now. I bought some nice prawns yesterday and some sourdough bread, so I'm going to make myself a prawn cocktail sandwich and watch some telly.
