DP and I have been together for over 25 years and have finally decided to get married! DC are old enough now to be witnesses, so we're not telling a should apart from them and the 5 of us are just going to go to registrars one afternoon and get it done. Ordered wedding rings today, appointment with registrar on Weds and I'm actually abut excited!!!

DC are chuffed, but know it doesn't change much.
No idea what I'll wear, but it doesn't matter, jeans are an option.
Yes we'll tell people afterwards.
We just don't want a fuss. The thought of organising a wedding is the main thing which has put us off so long. As soon as someone finds out then there's pressure to start a wedding!

I know this isn't AIBU OP, but you are being very unreasonable.

We need hen do drama (preferably abroad), bridesmaids throwing their toys out of the pram, food/buffet angst, hand-wringing over a distant cousin that you have never met but have to invite because "hurty feelings" and a thread where we can all suggest ludicrous outfits for you to wear.
