Good morning all! What's everyone up to today?

lucysmam · 23/05/2026 09:21

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, despite being up from around 6am! Boy cat went mountaineering on the boxes that would normally be in the loft & brought some crashing down around then 🙄. Both cats have vanished somewhere cooler after their breakfast and a good drink from the jug dd2 used to fill ice cube trays.

We're off to town and the shopping outlet today - dd would like to get cards for some teachers, and she's doing her own makeup for prom since her dress was more expensive than dd1's, so I'm going to treat her to a few new things. I would have still paid an MUA but she's happy to do her own & plans to practise over half term.

I'll nip out and water my plants before it gets too hot, tidy round, and hang washing to dry...just the one load today, for a change!

When we get in, I'll maybe sort peg dolls for this half term's painting, or continue to prep the hallway to start painting tomorrow morning. Dd needs to tidy her room and hoover in there, plus start sorting the revision guides she's finished with to take up to school.

Not sure what will be tea yet, I might walk back round the lake with dd, to Asda, and pick up some chicken breasts to make wraps for tea 🤔.

What about all of you? 🙂

Been out doing some gardening this morning, will do maybe another hour or so and then take ddog for a short walk (he's old and even 20 degrees is a bit much for him)

It's my birthday tomorrow so I'm going out with my Mum this afternoon, late lunch then Devil wears Prada at the cinema (booked before we knew the weather was going to be so nice 😄) DH will continue gardening and cleaning as his parents are coming over on Monday and we've been mad busy with work so everything has got a bit behind!

shitshow1976 · 23/05/2026 09:36

We're in Filey for the weekend in our caravan, its absolutely glorious!
DP has gone for a walk on the beach with the old dog whilst its still cool enough.
I'm sat with a cuppa.

We're gonna have a very chilled day, will inflate the paddling pool for 4YO Grandson.
DD is dropping him off later and he'll stay with us till monday. Were gonna get the BBQ out later.
Hope you all have a good day.

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I haven't been out much this week, except for yesterday when we dropped some stuff off at the local Food Hub and I went to get a blood test... So I've been getting a bit stir crazy! Anyway - yesterday I let Mr Dilemma know in no uncertain terms that I wanted to go out to do something today. He wasn't overjoyed... made the usual noises about lots of people/bank holiday weekend etc., until I reminded him that in fact he had been out nearly every day this week, on little errands mainly, but still out, and I hadn't been anywhere! The upshot is that I think we are going to a local antiques warehouse for a look around. We don't need anything and, in fact, don't have room for/want anything, but it's still nice to look.

It's going to be a lovely day but I am in long sleeves, as I am taking 2 medications that make me very sensitive to the sun. Better safe than sorry... And at least my bingo hang gliders will be covered up!

I expect I will do a bit of crafting this afternoon, unless Mr Dilemma would like my input on the clothes he intends to take on holiday. It's going to be a smart holiday and I will be dressing up, so I will have opinions! He has recently developed a massive liking for Temu and has bought himself numerous rather nasty 'slimy' shirts with flashy buttons. Those will NOT be coming with us! He says he likes them - I say they look cheap and nasty (because they do). He won't be wearing them... even if it means I have to buy him new shirts myself! He has, by the way, been asking for my opinion... It is not unsolicited! I have been buying a lot of stuff from Vinted, mostly Monsoon and natural fabrics, so good quality stuff rather than rubbish, even if it isn't new. Some really nice silk tops as well - I do love silk!

Have a good day everybody, or at least the best day possible.

Having a cup of tea in the garden. Don't plan on doing much of anything apart from relax and enjoy the sun

Tiddlywinks63 · 23/05/2026 09:44

Good morning, it was foggy here an hour ago but the sun’s breaking through and it’s getting warm outside.
I’ve just hung out the second load of washing, two more to go.
I’ve changed the bed, turned the mattress, cleaned the bathroom and loo, tidied the kitchen, watered the plants that I put out in the borders yesterday, emptied all the bins and am having a cup of tea.
Not much else planned today.
i had an emergency dental appointment yesterday after breaking off a tooth, i
he had to cut the gum 😬😵‍💫🤢. It’s rather sore so I will take some painkillers and hope it heals quickly.
There’s quiche, salad and new potatoes for dinner, that’s the extent of my cooking today!
don’t enjoy the heat so I will be enjoying from my Shed later 😊
Have a lovely Bank Holiday everyone.

Autumngirl5 · 23/05/2026 09:45

I have gone down with a nasty virus. Headache, sore throat and just feeling awful so I won’t be doing much. I will probably be drinking too much coffee and feeling sorry for myself! Have a lovely weekend everyone.

JacknDiane · 23/05/2026 09:50

Im off today, having a cuppa and contemplating what to wash as its sunny out.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 23/05/2026 09:54

Good morning lucysmam and others. Tiddlywink you have been busy! I hope your mouth settles down and is less painful.

I have had 2 coffees and two slices of toast and a cuppa. 2 washes are out and the third is in the machine. I've stripped the bed too and cleaned the bathroom.
Later I will iron and wash the floors. Im going to have another cup of tea then do the polishing and hoovering. It's not quite heatwave weather here but is pleasant and windy, so good drying weather. Dinner will be from the freezer but no idea what. Enjoy your day all

lucysmam · 23/05/2026 09:55

@DilemmaDelilah I'm very sensitive to the sun too - I think it's a hangover from the chemo - and dd2's ginger (say no more) so loose sleeves and buckets of suncream here!

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Been awake since 6.15 when DH’s alarm went off but I’m not working till 2. Just up, dressed & procrastinating - I’m very good at that! Should be sorting all my bags of charity shop finds to either put in an ironing pile or photograph to upload on Vinted. Fed up of seeing all the carrier bags & heaps in the lounge. The kitchen needs sorting & the surfaces could do with a wipe. There’s some pots to hand wash & I’ll do the dishwasher shortly. Bunnies are enjoying kale in the garden & I can watch them through the French windows. DD17 still asleep or in bed at least. We had a nice shopping trip yesterday & I ended up not spending as much as I thought I would. DD can be great company & it’s really heartwarming to see how happy she is since meeting her GF. Contemplating a 3rd cuppa & quite fancy some toast with the clear wildflower honey I bought in Asda recently. It’s a massive jar & was only about a fiver. Might stick Saturday Kitchen on in the background. Oh & I must write my meal plan for next week. We may go out for a meal on Monday as it’s our wedding anniversary. I finish work at 6. No plans for this evening. Pizzas for tea, even though DH had one last night. I have a load of make up that’s been sitting in a bag for nearly 18 months (had a big blow out at Boots & TK Maxx) but I’ve never got round to using it properly. Was hoping DD would show me again ( she made me up soon after I bought everything ) but think I’ll research an idiots guide on You Tube. Since I’ve lost a fair bit of weight, I’m trying to make more of an effort with my appearance. Have a great day all ❤️

Starlight40 · 23/05/2026 09:57

I’ve got up early as Tesco came at 9am. 3rd lot of washing is on the line and I’ve done some jobs. I need to take my daughter to gymnastics at lunchtime but have no other plans after that.

Simonjt · 23/05/2026 09:58

Good morning, even we have a little heatwave, today is already about 22° and due to get to about 24°.

We’ve been on a dog walk this morning before it gets too warm, we likely won’t do much. My husbands unwell so we’ll go and visit him in a few hours, as its the weekend we might go out for lunch as a treat rather than making it at home.

Have a lovely saturday and enjoy the sunshine.

Topsy44 · 23/05/2026 10:01

I’ve had a cup of tea and a brioche. DD14 has been sitting with me downstairs but she’s just gone up to fester in her room now. I’m happy for her to do this today as I know she’s shattered after her DOE expedition last weekend and end of term tests this week at school - she is very ready for the half term break!

I am just about to mow the lawn before it gets too hot and then not much planned for today. Will hopefully read a bit more of my book this afternoon and will probably get a takeaway for tea as I can’t be bothered to cook anything today!!

Hope you all have a good day🙂.

Kim82 · 23/05/2026 10:15

Good morning everyone, I’m struggling to get going this morning and I’m still in my pjs. I’ve done two loads of washing and hung them out on the line and a third load is in the machine then I cleaned out both fridges and have just put the Tesco delivery away.

I have a full house this morning, dh has a rare Saturday off and dd18 is home from uni. Today’s plan is to get the house cleaned (I really can’t be bothered but it needs the weekly scrub) and I need to nip to Iceland for a few things I forgot to order from Tesco. Dd11 has a school friend coming over this afternoon and dh will no doubt go for a ride out on his motorbike whilst the weather is nice. Dd18 is off out around 3.30pm as she’s going meeting a friend in Manchester then going to see Doja Cat. I plan on spending the afternoon reading in the sun with a glass of wine. Tea tonight is just hotdogs as it’s nice, quick and simple and then an evening in front of the tv.

Love your description of boy cat mountaineering! Why do cats always do this? And they seem to be magnetically attracted to any sort of cardboard box. I guess it is another one of those mysterious cat ways for which we love them 😻

Shedmistress · 23/05/2026 10:31

Fed the cats after a sleep in til 9:15 after 2 hours awake in the night because I was too hot. I am going to trim off some pottery I threw yesterday, seperate one into a cylinder and a lid, and join the cylinder to a flat plate and turn it into a cat dry food distributor. If it doesnt dry out too fast I might carve a helter skelter into it.

Making halloumi burgers with potato salad for lunch and after that, have a nap and then return to the helter skelter cat feeder later to finish that off.

frozendaisy · 23/05/2026 10:52

Morning morning morning

Drinking first coffee whilst 1st of two rounds of burger hun dough makes in breadmaker (I need 20 ish buns) as we stupidly agreed to do a BBQ for the 7 teens (plus us) today it’s very warm already

Have potato salad, coleslaw to make (food mixers are great for chopping), sweetcorn to boil, watermelon to work out how to serve with Mexican spice, lemon and lime sorbet to prep for maker. And presently no fridge space
Also planning on grilling pineapple

At least then can be outside this weekend

Probably should water the garden as well

Another coffee first

Giggorata · 23/05/2026 10:55

Good morning lucysmam and all.
I have just got back from doing an early shift at the community shop (don't know how that happened) so now I am sitting down with my pot of tea.
Then getting the van ready for tomorrow, when I am helping a friend clear her mother's house. It's at the seaside, so we plan to have fish and chips on the beach.
I brought my stained glass cupboards down from Scotland, which were made for me by a friend. They are now up on the wall. I now have to find the left over kitchen paint, so that the slight change in size from the previous cupboard isn’t noticeable.
DH is extremely pleased with himself as he has caught an enormous rat in the shed. He’s going down to a friend’s this afternoon to help him do something agricultural with some kind of machinery.. beer will be involved later.
We've got some smashing home made pies from the farmers' market for dinner tonight, so just some mashed spuds, veg and gravy to do.

OchreSwan · 23/05/2026 10:58

Good morning all. Up quite early to go for a run as was trying to beat the heat, but still got very warm! Then had a mad dash to get out the door in time for our train to a nearby town for a day out with DP.

Not sure what time we’ll be home, but need to pop into Waitrose to do a food shop on our way back. Definitely just something very easy for dinner, maybe oven pizza and some salad. Then an early night as we’ve a busy day tomorrow! Have a lovely day everyone.

mbonfield · 23/05/2026 11:00

We are looking forward to our son arriving shortly from the Midlands and catching up with all the news.
Then some gardening and possibly popping down to the seafront as it is only a few minutes away.

Thislittlekitten · 23/05/2026 11:25

Good Morning @lucysmam and the Saturday Squad

Had a relatively easy morning. Bits of tidying done and washing. It’s quite a dull day here in north east Scotland and slight wind but pleasant.

DH and DS are out with the dog. DD has just surfaced. Cats snoozing. I’m having a cup of tea then more course work.

We are going to have our first bbq of 2026 tonight! So in Scottish style it will probably rain!

Im hoping to have a bit of work done by later and so I can start my new book guilt free.

Rainbow1235 · 23/05/2026 11:33

Good morning lucysmam and to u all . I’m sat in garden waiting for my 3 grandchildren as we having them for the day and night so we goin to get the pool up as it’s already boiling here then tomorrow will be a day chilling as I will definitely need it . Have a great and safe day all 🫶

Bryonyberries · 23/05/2026 12:02

I’ve done two loads washing now on line drying, mowed the big garden (takes nearly two hours), watered the plants and now I’m going to get lunch and enjoy the garden!

PermanentTemporary · 23/05/2026 12:06

Good morning all (just about)

Woke early this morning which was annoying after an exhausting week of long days including a 230am finish on Wednesday, but meant I made it to parkrun for the first time since about 2019. I used to take ds when he was younger and he’s home for a few weeks between tenancies. Enjoying a coffee in the shade with my feet up. Probably a walk with dp later and mushroom pasta for dinner.

fluffydoglove · 23/05/2026 12:09
