Good morning all! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, despite being up from around 6am! Boy cat went mountaineering on the boxes that would normally be in the loft & brought some crashing down around then 🙄. Both cats have vanished somewhere cooler after their breakfast and a good drink from the jug dd2 used to fill ice cube trays.

We're off to town and the shopping outlet today - dd would like to get cards for some teachers, and she's doing her own makeup for prom since her dress was more expensive than dd1's, so I'm going to treat her to a few new things. I would have still paid an MUA but she's happy to do her own & plans to practise over half term.

I'll nip out and water my plants before it gets too hot, tidy round, and hang washing to dry...just the one load today, for a change!

When we get in, I'll maybe sort peg dolls for this half term's painting, or continue to prep the hallway to start painting tomorrow morning. Dd needs to tidy her room and hoover in there, plus start sorting the revision guides she's finished with to take up to school.

Not sure what will be tea yet, I might walk back round the lake with dd, to Asda, and pick up some chicken breasts to make wraps for tea 🤔.

What about all of you? 🙂

Did 4 loads of washing then some gardening , still recovering from a rather nasty facial infection so catching up on everything. Hoping to get some new pea pufferfish in a while with grandchild then off out tonight to a local cake cafe in the beautiful Dorset valley that does a dessert evening

Up since 7am couldn’t sleep as usual done 3 loads of washing hung them out and got another load on now..first good day we’ve had here for the washing been raining all week haven’t had the sun you’ve got in the uk
Showered got ready been in and out the garden with the dog he’s not feeling great been eating grass
Done some hoovering changed my bed got to put those on soon .. had breakfast..dd not out of bed yet no change there..will bring her up a roll in a while she don’t like breakfast
More housework to be done today..got to wash my hair absolutely hate washing my hair don’t know why but I do I’m sure I’m only like this the last few years..not going out anywhere today..

I’m so the same about washing my hair, and also have only been like that in the last few years! Odd, isn’t it? I often consider cutting it short so as to be free of it!
Anyway, solidarity!

Morning (well afternoon now!)

last week I said I was going to have a push on my booktok to see if I could make a real side hustle. cashed out my first £21 this morning so I’m excitedly waiting for that to clear. Still don’t know if it’s worth the effort long term (because of course tax ) but I’m going to keep trying for a bit.

it’s half term now and I have just read my first book down at the allotment while supervising husbands hard work haha.

washing up and washing out when I get home, then husband is going to visit his family for tea.

eldest has gone to work although she could of done with cracking on with some assignment that was ment to be done yesterday. I will be very glad when the stress of her college is over .

We are going to the pub in a bit with my brother and SIL and my nieces and nephews. There’s a really good play area there so the kids can have some J2os and a run around and we can get our drink on 😎. Responsibly of course.

Staying in bed today

I am still bemoaning the fact that I left the beautiful Scottish island that I recently visited! Perhaps it's because we were mostly blessed with good weather while we were there (apart from being cut off from the rest of the world for a few days by high winds), but it had a strange sense of peace, and was the sort of place that made me think, "I have finally found the place where I want to live". I am also envious that they will not be getting hit with a heatwave! (I have very fair, sensitive skin that does not like heat).

As I've been away, there is minimal housework to do. I've read a book, booked myself on a course for this summer, and I am seriously contemplating cutting my hair off! (It's, erm, enormous, wild, and rejects all attempts of being tamed).

Good afternoon @lucysmam and all.

A later start for us this morning. Me and DH spent too much time chatting and drinking coffee on the patio. We went to a retail park this morning to get a few baby clothes for new DGC due very soon and a couple of gifts for other DGC, DD and SIL.

I'm going for my daily walk up and over the hills later. I'm knitting a teddy bear for the new DGC so will finish that sat in the garden. I plan to rest for the remainder of the day and may have a glass or two of prosecco with a picky tea of salad bits.

I’ve just done a half day meditation retreat in central London so I’m feeling very zen 🧘. Had a walk through Covent Garden and down through Piccadilly, stopped off the enjoy the free samples in fortnums and am now lying on a picnic blanket in green park. Planning to chill here for a bit then walk down to the Thames, have a wander along the river before heading home. I love mooching through London on my own!

I have the house to myself tonight, I’m planning a prawn and mango Asian salad for dinner in front of the tv. A pretty perfect Saturday!

We have been out all day. Doing a walking food tour. It was amazing, delicious food a few drinks and some lovely people.
Now having a chill on the sofa, about to watch Last night's Masterchef. May need a little snooze 😴

TheChosenTwo · 23/05/2026 19:30

Bit late to the party but I had an early swim then dh and I went out for breakfast in the sun and wandered the shops, he got a new moka pot thing and I got some gym shorts.
Then came home and basked on a lounger for a couple of hours. Then went to the butchers to get meat for the next week, did a few other bits and popped in to see my mum, sat in the garden with her for a bit. Then went went to the pub for a pint and now home, wood oven is fired up in the garden, we’re doing some lamb rumps and chops and baked new potatoes with a homemade mayo and spicy wedges and a salad.
Thats the royal ‘we’re’, I’m back on the lounger soaking up the last of the sun before we lose it drinking a cherry mai tai picked up in M&S earlier. Bit sweet but I’ll finish it!

Natsku · 23/05/2026 19:38

Spent far too long outside in the hot sun today. My town was having an event where various houses in different areas of town were open for people to look inside, which satisfied my nosiness quite a lot! But it was too hot, had to have a rest on the sofa when we got back and was too tired to cook dinner. Luckily had leftover roast chicken and some frozen roasties so stuck the potatoes in the oven and had them with cold chicken.

Went shopping, to cool down in their air conditioning. Now chilling at home. Didn't see much to buy.

BCBird · 23/05/2026 20:37

Hi all. Not much as not doing great at the moment. Tried 3 books before I found one I fancied, forced myself to eat and listened to some radio. Very sedate here. Agree the walking food tour sounds wonderful- i usually have a very hearty appetite. 🤪

It’s been a beautiful day - high 20s. Did a workout this a.m then we met up with family 2 hours away, took kids to indoor skate park & went to seafront for ice cream. Hot tub when I got back & now chilling in front of TV.
