If you’re a parent yes it’s hilarious

beasmithwentworth · 22/05/2026 21:14

Yes it’s brilliant! Some characters you’ll love and some are hateful. That’s the brilliance of it. Enjoy!

Tattletail · 22/05/2026 21:15

It really came into its own for me when I started the school run, very funny.

Also, Amandaland 👌🏼

MadisonMarieParksValetta · 22/05/2026 21:15

It's amazing! I watch it about 3 times a year. Never gets old.

LaJacondeFumantLaPipe · 22/05/2026 21:17

I like it. Some of the jokes aren't all that funny though and some of the lines don't land (imo). But it is one of my go-to programs for sticking on in the background while I do housework.

DH and I had watched it all (twice!) before we had DS and still found it hilarious. Dive in OP, I’m a bit jealous of what you’ve got to come Grin

Right Im on it!!!! Thanks

I’m not a parent but I thought it was great. And Amandaland too.

Aluna · 22/05/2026 21:36

No it’s completely bizarre. I felt like I was supposed to be laughing at someone with serious special needs, like Ricky Gervais’s Derek, which wasn’t funny and quite depressing. I liked Liz and Amanda though. Amandaland is more my cup of tea.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 22/05/2026 21:39

I much prefer Amandaland.

JustGiveMeReason · 22/05/2026 21:44

Yes, it's an easy watch.

Not exactly hilarious but there are some relatable parts and some amusing parts.

Melarus · 22/05/2026 21:47

I managed one episode but didn't find it funny or worthwhile.

livedexperienceangel · 22/05/2026 21:50

YES! It’s hilarious! I’m actually watching it now for the 10 millionth time!

Amilliondreamsisallitagonnatake · 22/05/2026 21:56

It’s a lovely light watch and relatable

GameOfJones · 22/05/2026 21:58

It's ok. I never understood the hype but it's ok for a bit of light relief.

Inthesensethat · 22/05/2026 21:59

Not a parent but loved both Motherland and Amandaland!

herbalteabag · 22/05/2026 22:12

It's great, I would watch all 3 series of that and then start on Amandaland!

I’m not a parent and I find it hilarious. Amandaland is brilliant too, especially series 2.

See I lived Derek. I found it bittersweet. Yes Derek is ND/autistic/has special needs but the programme showed how he was kind and gentle and how his friends, colleagues and the residents loved him for being him.

In what way is it anything like Derek?

Me too - was just thinking how envious I am that someone hasn’t even watched it yet 😂

Absolutely hilarious whether you're a parent or not! I must have watched it all 4 times now! Love it!

Hamela · 23/05/2026 00:02

I think it's wonderful. Deals with so many issues but in a realistic way. The characters are flawed and relatablebut also often ridiculous and comedic. It skewers (and represents) a few types of parents in a very tongue in cheek way.

The episode where Paul's parents come over to "help" has me in stitches. And it has Joanna Lumley, Diane Morgan, Lucy Punch.. What's not to love.

TheFutureFreaksMeOut · 23/05/2026 00:02

I've tried a couple of times but I can't stand it. I just don't find it funny at all!

Familywhen · 23/05/2026 00:07

As a Mother of children who thankfully left primary school over 10 years ago I do find it very relatable! Am so happy I don’t have to deal with the’Amandas’ these days 😅
