I need to talk about Lions Mane….

Right I don’t work for Nutrition Geek or anything like that. I just need to talk about this.

lions mane focus+ supplement.

So I don’t have a diagnosis of ADHD and I don’t identify as a person with ADHD but I do think that I have some traits. I have always struggled with overwhelm. My house is a mess. So easily distracted etc etc.

I’m actually genuinely baffled by the difference this stuff makes after a few days. It’s so weird. I don’t really feel any different in an obvious way, I don’t feel like I have more energy, there isn’t really anything tangible; but I do find my productivity is soooo much better. I’m more motivated, more focused. My house is clean. It’s like, the overwhelmed fog clears and I know where to start.

Stopped taking it for a couple of weeks and my house returned to its usual messy state and I was quite flat and frozen by “overwhelm” again. It cannot be a coincidence surely.

I’m always sceptical of these sorts of things (tried this stuff in a bit of desperation) but I’m struggling to be sceptical about this.

I was just wondering if anyone had any similar experience with this stuff??

Does it interact with anything? I take quite a lot of supplements already

DefinitelyDana · 20/05/2026 19:33

Dunno. It’s the only thing I take. I did try the collagen for a while but I don’t think it did anything except make my coffee taste bad.

Me too! I very much notice when I run out. Got a new supply today and have been much more productive

I do suspect I have ADHD though!

Glad it's helped you OP. But just wanted to add - I often see warnings against Lion's Mane on reddit. I think it can interact with some people's brain chemistry in negative ways. Approach with care and do your research, anyone thinking about taking it!

Crikey that Reddit thread is alarming!

WhosThatGirI · 20/05/2026 21:08

Where do you get it from? What brand?

MandyMotherOfBrian · 20/05/2026 21:12

Thought this was going to be about the actual mushroom. Now that is delicious, sliced and fried in butter, mmmmm yum.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 20/05/2026 21:13

I took it and it helped my memory but gave me awful palpitations.

Walker1178 · 20/05/2026 21:16

I have focus patches, they’re like nicotine patches but contain lions mane instead. I honestly couldn’t tell you if the patch has any real effect or whether it’s simply the act of putting it on that convinces me I’m ready for the day. DP jokingly calls it my placebo patch but does concede that it changes my mindset and I get stuff done!

21ZIGGY · 20/05/2026 21:18

Placebo effect as pp says

izzy2076 · 20/05/2026 21:18

I took it for a week and had crippling insomnia like I was on speed all night. It was horrible for me.

Georgiapeach21 · 20/05/2026 21:22

I have adhd and it didnt make a difference for me!

Same.

Lions Mane can stimulate the immune system so if you have any auto immune conditions such as Lupus or RA etc then DO NOT take without talking to your Rheumatologist first. It could make you more ill.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 20/05/2026 22:21

Apparently you have to be careful if on blood thinners too. No idea why.

VeganSteakAndFries · 20/05/2026 22:24

Can you tell me which type you take please op?

I had no idea about this, I have RA as well as bronchiectasis and have been so unwell for the last year, Ive got myself a rabbit hole to go down tonight to see if the symptoms I’ve been having could be from this.

It was actually my gp who suggested Lions Mane to try while I was on the adhd waiting list.
She’d said it might help with peri menopause brain fog too. I stupidly didn’t go googling,
I’ve had several times in the past when I’ve asked my rheumatologist and gp before stating new meds of there’s side effects I may need to seek medical help for ,and get told my questions make it sound like I have health anxiety. 🤦🏻‍♀️

CoverIt · 20/05/2026 22:31

I made the mistake of trying it on a day when I’d already taken my ADHD meds.

Do not recommend this combination.

Thats interesting because for the time that I did take it briefly, it gave me terrible nose bleeds and I looked it up and it said it can do that

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 21/05/2026 07:04

It clearly contains powerful substances. I wonder if it’s been researched for controlled use.

It is the mushroom but it’s usually dried and powdered.

Oh yeah, been there done that. GP and pharmacist have both told me to take certain meds despite the manufacturer's instructions inside the tablet box stating DO NOT TAKE IF YOU HAVE LUPUS. They say it's only guidance 🙄 I now google everything first and read that little piece of paper religiously.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/05/2026 10:03

My colleague who thinks she has undiagnosed ADHD takes it and absolutely swears by it.
